Port Offered us Picks 8 and 9 for pick 2

i dont think we wuld have been laughing at them. pick 8 and 9 for pick 2 is a deal worth thinking about it.

I kind of agree with that, but I reckon since it wasn't 2008, they thought more quality (H's top 6 star theory) less quantity.

Of course, were it 2008 Port wouldn't have even considered letting go picks 8 and 9.

I think RR probably sees it the way the MFC recruiters saw this one... Port rocks up and proposes the trade, MFC thinks about it, goes away and looks at some mock-drafts...

So it would be one of Scully or Terngove.. Probably Trengove. VS...

2 of Talia, Lucas, Tapscott, Jetta... maybe a slider in Butcher or Rohan.

I think the decision is a pretty easy one. You can only get 18 players on the ground at one time, and we're already having trouble letting go of some relatively good young players to make room for the incoming draftees as it is. Time to change from a saturation of players to just getting the pick of the litter each year.

Well done MFC.

Scroll down to where ? It was telling me you need to register. As if...

I'm embarrassed to say I did.

Its a fluff piece hyping up Trengove a bit, then conceding he won't get past us & trying to say that picks 8 & 9 will still get good players.

So in essence, saying nothing we don't already know and overstating a few things in teal coloured glasses

Sorry, I couldn'd cut and paste the article. I didn't relise it required a registration. I don't post a lot but I do brose a lot and as such do sign up to opp forums.

When topics interst me (such as this) I like to look on both sides of the fence.

Comments like "The club should speak to Trengove and tell him to play average for two years and then tell Melbourne he wants out. Thats if he would like to play for us." & "Worth a shot but I won't lose sleep over Melbourne's stance. Melbourne could have had 5 picks in the top 18. Now they get a player with a "go home factor." do tend to amuse me though.

Would you like some salt as you suck on that lemon boys and girls?

So this turned out to be Butcher and Moore for Trengove (altho we may have picked differently)

and Sydney's offer to Richmond was Rohan and Jetta for Martin.

Will be interesting to see how it al pans out.

When you put it like that, makes you wonder how highly Port & Swans must think of their first two picks. Although I don't think either us or Tiges would have given the offer a second thought.

Just go's too show how highly rated Trengove is by most in the industry port and melb would have both had a fare idea of what picks 8 and 9 would bring yet the dees chose Trengove and Port desperatly wanted Trengove.... i have a feeling from what i have seen this bloke could be dare i say it one of the best draftee's EVER. Like most i have read every article, watched and listened too everyones opinions (especially the SA media) and he is just so exciting in everyway. .I got massive shivers over my body when i watched him being called out draft night

I think it is indisputable that elite players win premierships - not just a collection of very good players. When you can get them, you should always recruit them, and NOT tade then for more of lessor lights. Think Carey-Kangaroos, Judd/Cousins-Eagles, Franklin/Hodge-Hawks, Ablett/Scarlett-Cats

How many of these types of players have we got. Last year none. Now hopefully Scully/Trengove/Watts and i believe in three years time Gawn. Next level Morton/Jurrah/Davey/Green/Bruce.

Time will tell whether this represents the Elite of sufficent talent to win a flag, but we are now in a better position with respect to this issue than we have been since the late 1980s early 1990s with the arrival of Lyon/Stynes/Neitz and especially Schwartz who in his first couple of years looked better than Carey until his three knee reconstructions - in my view costing us a premiership.

At present I'd swap Jurrah and Watts around.

I question Bruce & Green at that level in 3 years time.

Substitute Grimes & Sylvia for Green & Bruce and you've just about convinced me. Oh, and you may be a tad optimistic re Gawn ... but then again ...

Anyone else at training impress you besides Trengove?

jetta looks likes hes in for a big season, its obvious now that moloney should be the next captain, frawley has bulked up, theres a few, last season was like watching a VFL side train, its different now, theres alot of group 1 winners out there, maric looks primed, blease is up an running, a few people will be glad to hear, C Sylvia looks awesome.

Basically with Port's offer we would have likely had Scully, Butcher and say Melksham (picks 1, 8 and 9) over Scully and Trengove ( 1 and 2).

It was worth considering but ultimately I they reckon they believe Trengove is going to be a superstar and there are valid questions marks on Butcher.

Essentially, instead of Scully, Butcher & Melksham, we ended up with Scully, Trengove & Fitzpatrick.

I know which 3 I'd rather have at this stage.

That is not the comparison because it is two players for one. So its S & T or Scully, Butcher & Moore, or Scully, Butcher and Melksham or Scully, Butcher and Lucas.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
