What are your thoughts on us drafting him as a ruckmen/pinch hitting forward until Spencer develops. Can kick a long ball is and a good player.

Bryan, 27, played 30 games in three seasons for the Magpies after arriving via the pre-season draft at the end of 2006 from Carlton, where he played 16 games in two seasons.

He was originally drafted by the Blues from VFL club Frankston with the 73rd pick in the 2004 NAB AFL Draft.

Bryanโ€™s best year was 2008, when he played 17 senior games including both finals against Adelaide and St Kilda. He also played in the memorable extra-time semi-final victory over West Coast in 2007, as well as the five-point preliminary final loss to Geelong a week later.

Been at two clubs where they are screaming for a ruckman and failed to make the grade. We have a couple of those already on our books.

27 years old...I'll pass thanks.

No good...I'll pass thanks.

No for the Dees. Bryan should be, and probably is, pursuing an NFL punting career now.

Collingwood weren't screaming for a ruckmen they had Fraser and Bryan before Wood came. If you recall Bryan was a very influential player in the extra time win over West Coast in the finals.

See the Coughlan thread. Both of them are not worth taking.

Oh God no

Collingwood still have Fraser and they have got Wood... They just traded 14 for Jolly. Now why did they do that?Hmmmm

Why start a thread about Chris Bryan?!

Chris Bryan?!

Chris Bryan?!

Oh God no

If you take garbage and dress it in a Melbourne jumper, guess what, it's still rubbish only it's wearing a Melbourne jumper.

27 years old?, no. We allready have 2 mid 20's yr old rucks. I'd like to think we'll either draft, or rookie another young ruck or 2.

I wouldn't mind James Craig as a follower type ruck/forward, or Vardy from the draft.

I hope we can rookie another mobile young ruck.

I'm starting to go off the giant rucks as the game becomes more strategic & quick.

Not a chance in HELL............

Ummmm.....

Chris Bryan...... Where do I start??

More to the point.... Where do I finish???

The End!

Is this a joke?

Chris Bryan is average at best- we have enough players that "ruck" and "mark" that are average at best. How would we benefit from adding another (and older) player like this?

I love the dees and get a membership each year, but if they signed Bryan I would have to think twice!

NO,NO...and NO

i reckon the days of the the massive slow big dopey ruckmen are quickly coming to and end. The future ruckman will be in the

mold of a mitch clark or a matty kruser. Not to mention hes not even a good massive slow big dopey ruckmen!

Yeah i agree, especially after watching paddy ryder.

No thanks. It's far more important for our future to get games / experience into Spencer, Martin, Meesen and perhaps a youngster from this year's draft.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
