John Meesen – He only played four games in the early part of the year – and showed he had improved his competitiveness from the previous season. But he was another to be struck down and miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury. He is in the same boat as our other ruckmen and needs to get fitter and stronger, so there is some competition between them – Sean Wellman on Melbournefc.com.au

An elite endurance ruckman, he could blow up opposing rucks with sheer run but injuries are a curse not easily lifted from this fella.

Good luck to him in a very important 2010.

Like Wellman stated showed a bit early in his few games. Prefer to see more. Next year is an important year for him personally.

Last roll of the dice.

I was not convinced with what I saw from Meesen in the 4 games. More a case of hope.

However, some of his games at Casey were putrid.

Physically and psychologically I wonder if he has what it takes to make it in AFL.

He has another year. Anything positive we get will be a bonus...if he is fit.

watch this sapce in 2010.. Just cant really fathom the goods or bads of this bloke. Closest we have to a total enigma for mine :D

Fair assessment.

Meesen's glimpses have been massively over-rated on here.

It's akin to a drowning man talking up the buoyancy of straw.

Only showed a few 'glimpses' in '09, but that's a few more than the previous year. 2010 will be 'make or break' for John.

AGREE with all the analysis , already stated- a MAKE or BREAK year. Huge pre season is required to make sure body holds up then with confidence- PRODUCE.

He just has that nuance of the unknown factor about him... Fit and firing he might prove to be a wild card revelation... that or nothing... probably no in between..:lol:

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

    Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50.     A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan.     Some veteran Demonland Trackwatchers ventured down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you the following observations from another Preseason Training Session.     Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9.
