very happy

I think a great deal for MFC- we get a great pick in this draft for a guy who always has shown promise however over the last two years has dropped back- I felt the way he was going would not be in my best team in 2010 unless improved spees dramatically. Felt both Maloney and Jones had gone ahead of him as an inside midfielder

right on both counts, pick 11 on KPF(hopefully) Beamer and Jones stood tall in a season which , well what can you say, got the picks and games into the kids, Brock should do well at the Blues, wont be required to run and carry

Fantastic. A good outcome, I think it's win-win, Brock wasn't going anywhere at Melbourne. A great deal for us especially, he probs wasn't worth a pick 11.

It all depends on who we pick up for 11 and how the player performs, don't you think?

Finally.

He also said we were looking to hold onto all the picks.

Was also fairly fervent in selling the "developing through the draft" line, almost insistent on it without being asked, as though he needed to make it clear that losing Brock was a positive.

.... but i'm still not happy.

Something is just not right and I won't be happy until the player we pick up with Pick 11 starts performing.

It's probably Brock's decision that is not right or doesn't sit right with you.

It was his decision to walk. I couldn't give a rats what he does from here on in, and I for one will not be sitting around unhappy waiting for Pick 11 to perform.

I will be looking very much forward to Pick 11's debut.

I'm very happy that we have 1,2,11,18 to be brutally honest.

thats right looking to...it is the intention to... but he sounded very much like the door was open to anything for pick 18 and above

Yes I think you're right. I guess the club, and our list managers are hardening up a bit and making some tough decisions particulalry with pay and such, if Brock couldn't handle it then fine, we'll find someone who can.

I would like to say goodluck and give him my best wishes, but i'm still angry and I don't think he deserves them.

Glad the deal is done now and we got good value for a player who lost interest, but i'm still not happy.

Always the pessimist Jackattack. Pick 11 for Brock is an absolute steal! By obtaining this pick we have a shot at drafting a capable KPP. Brock on the other hand is a known quantity which we simply don't need.

Not always, I just really liked Brock. And I don't seem to rate picks this year as much as others here. I suppose in this case I am a bit pessimistic.

When they call out pick 11 on draft day i'll feel better.

Absolutely magnificent result for the MFC.

I was convinced that after the inclusion of both Scully and Trengrove (who i think will definetly be playing round 1) that Mclean was going to be pushed out of our best 22.

Number 11 and 18 i would think HAVE to be used on key position forwards as i feel our midfield is going to develop quite well when you consider the young talent in there.

Scully

Trengrove

Blease

Strauss

Jones

Moloney

Sylvia

Grimes

Morton

Bennell

Jetta

Davey

Petterd

We are starting to see the makings of a quality side when you add our growing list of key position backs coupled with the emergence of Watts and Jurrah.

from the players metioned there is a nice balance of youth, experience, inside/outside mids and those who do both

Tim Harrington is earning his money. He's a new favourite of mine, along with BP. God, I'm glad we got rid of Craig Cameron. Our recruiting team is the best it's ever been. Finally, the MFC is on the way to being a professional outfit.

Had he said "we're absolutely not planning to trade them" I'd have taken that with a grain of salt too. As the saying goes, there's no such thing as untradeable.

I must admit, although I'm annoyed at the circumtances, I find myself wishing him well.

Jesus I hate this line of thinking. BP has had hardly any time to be proven a winner as a recruiter. His worth will only be proven in 4 or so years.

And however well you think of him now, CAC was as close to completely supported on here as you could get as a recruiter, and that WAS after half a dozen recruiting seasons. I don't want to reopen the old boring debate, but he is given a far harder time on here than he deserves. There's a reason he was headhunted.

Craig Cameron resigned his post at MFC. Its too early to start toasting the recruiting team we have now but I hope you are right. For the record the list we are building now will include many of Cameron's selections up to 2007. Grimes,Frawley, Martin, Garland are all from Cameron's era.

Laud BP when justified but credit where credit is due.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
