Just some news

Well this is an interesting one. I work at Safeway and was just going about my business when a guy stacked in MFC gear came up and asked where the rubbish bags are located. First of I told him where the rubbish bags are then also alerted him I'm an MFC fan as well - to which he replied Oh I'm not a fan, I just work as a runner with the club.

Anyway we got talking and one stage I said it must be a great job. He goes dont read to much into it, they're just AFL footballers mate. Nothing to special. I just replied with oh yes. As we continued chatting he went on to say McLean was told to find a trade, he was bringing a culture to the club that staff didn't like. Also that Scully & Trengrove are locked into to be 1&2 and that the club are chasing Steven Dodd from Fremantle.

It was good to recieve some inside information. Anyone know exactly who it may of been?

It all sounded plausible until this bit. Now I just hope the bloke was pulling your leg.

Just repeating what he told me really. I dont know much about Dodd myself.

Steven Dodd

26yo mid sized defender - 191cm 82kegs

Ongoing Shoulder problems reco'ed in 07

ongoing calf problems

No need for him in current MFC line up too old doesn't fit the bill

much better players being touted as possible trades that MFC could go for

in this class such as Josh Gibson bigger and faster than Dodd.

For those who did not believe me. This is further evidence that Mclean was pushed as I suggested with logic and some evidence at the time. As time has gone on it has become clear that this is the case yet I don't see any apologies for the aggression some of you showed with my initial post on the Mclean thread last week.

Anthony McDonald is one of the runnners, but I doubt it was him as he works outside of football during the week, and wouldn't be wearing the tracksuit

Is balls grinter still a runner?

I went to the same physio as the Dees in 2008 (was on punt road near prahran/windsor) and often chatted to a runner there about the players and news.

Avg height brown hair - he's often out there having a kick on match day.

Some one called SEN around 3:45 to say pretty much that same thing about Brock and that 1 & 2 are locked.

Wonder if Trengove was told, don't fret the camp, play the GF, your already a Melbourne player.

Don't hold your breath mate, I had people lining me up when I assured everyone Jack Watts was debuting against Collingwood. I was one who doubted you and said I was sharpening the axe, So Yes I am sorry.

Why would an MFC runner be dressed in footy gear while the players are in Bali on their end of season trip?

Bloody school holidays.

We don't pay the runners enough and he can't afford normal clothes?

That all sounds good except for the Steven Dodd bit. Why would the MFC be chasing him i wonder.

Better bait around than that i would have thought.

What was the culture that brock was bringing to the club?? Can anyone elaborate further??

Maybe he has gotten confused with Marcus Drum, word is he may be keen to return to Vic and fits our age profile better than Dodd.

Drum was gun junior and high pick who hasn't really kicked on at Freo, may be a bit unsettled. Could be good cover for Garland if injuries persist or is needed to push forward.

Both Drum & Dodd are out of contract with drum already walking out of the club. http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.p...ght=marcus+drum

Nice story.

Either your bored, or someones taking the [censored]. ;)

If any runner, from any team goes around relaying private information to random strangers at the supermarket (anywhere), they ought to be shot!

Just doesnt sound like something that a person so involved with an AFL club would do.

To talk a friend about it on the phone, or at a party after a few drinks- that would make sense.. if you knew the guy, that would have also made more sense..

and the whole, 'theyre only footballers' attitude.. too weird.

Oh yeah, and wouldnt Davey have been your 1st topic of discussion?

Maybe a 'mate' at work heard you talking about the Dees at some stage an thought.. 'i could have some fun here'

Why would somebody go to the trouble to make all that up? That's the thing about getting inside info, If It doesn't come true everybody slags you off.. Demonlands a harsh place sometimes.. I have a source heavily involved In the MCC that hears things often but I dont post them here as things can change quickly leaving me to look stupid.

Shot is a bit harsh. Maybe just some water-boarding.

Seriously, a runner is not going to be privilaged to all of the back room plans. More than likely he is hearing the info second or third hand. It would be pretty safe to assume that anything he has heard is pretty much an open secret at the club anyway.

he went on to say McLean was told to find a trade, he was bringing a culture to the club that staff didn't like.

Well done and thanks for the info, it's always appreciated, even if it seems a bit off...

But I have to say I think this is rubbish. Rumours spread to make the Brock trade seem like it was MFC's doing.

I've heard, through very reputable sauces (aren't they all) that DB knew nothing about it and was shocked, as he was away, and Brock and he were god mates. Also shocking is the fact that when the news broke, Brock said himself he'd had 3 or 4 weeks to think about it before coming to a decision.

I also doubt he went to Carlton to ask to be traded... They'd have come to him.

Way to shoot the messenger.

If it helps to prove any credibility he said he was at a dinner last Thursday and Jimmy spoke. Anyone know about this?

... and Dodd won't be offered a contract so there's every chance that he's being shopped around.

I, like a few others was wondering why Brock was still playing the last 5 or so games this year when he looked injured.

Now I think the writing was on the wall and maybe a combination of his on field lack of awareness for a midfielder and his off field stuffups, especially this years story run in the local press about his connection to Tuppence Moran may have been enough for us.

And pick 11 gives us a totally dominant position now in this crucial draft.

As for Doddy, I'd be happy to get him for Bartram

Please not Dodd. He has no football brain, the games he has played against us have been awful smashed by Robbo and Jurrah. He's about the worst player mentioned in trading so far, I even rate Gibson higher than him.

Indeed.

Lol ;)

yeah, not actually shot..

EDIT: ..well, maybe just the knee caps

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
