Thank you Lions

Thanks Lions for your win. No home final for you know who. Will be barracking for the Lions next week.

As much as we dislike Carlton the fact remains that they're in the top 8 this year and we are not.

And as much as we dislike the way the Blues and their supporters talk and behave (they're not strutting around so much this morning), the tactics they use to get players and the way they appear to circumvent the rules to get their way, they have achieved in 2009 and we have not.

I'll be supporting the Lions next weekend but I also hope that we adopt the same aggressive and uncompromising attitude  the Blues have to their trading and drafting this year as what they did a couple of years ago when they were down on the floor and held early national and psd picks.

I'll be interested to see how Johnstone goes in the final series. He's a proven finals performer, and I think Voss has brought him back for the last couple of matches because of this.

I thought he did ok last night. Probably his best game this season. Simon Black looked proppy in the last minute. The commentators siad it may have been cramping, I think T.Shaw thought it might have been a hamstring.

He would be a big miss next week if it is indeed a hamstring strain.

Would be great to see him repeat his performance against Adelaide a few years back... One of the best individual games I've seen from someone wearing the red and blue...

It was two quarters of magic with a 1/4 either side that was silent.

He did well in 2002 and 2004 in bursts but geez its a long time between drinks since he turned it on. He has been mediocre this year at best. If he does not fire then Voss is giving him his last couple of matches. I cant see them giving him a contract if he does not fire against Carlton.

Hopefully we can grab ourselves a Nick Stevens...

Preferably someone better and more team orientated.

Yes that 2002 Final really summed up Travis.

Sublime in Q 2-3. Went missing Badly when it REALLY counted. Such a shame.....

Same happened in the 2004 final against essendon.

But i wish him well this september.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
