I rate Scully enormously, but anyone that thinks he's going to slot in next year and perform to the levels he has at juniour level is kidding themselves. Size will have a lot to do with it, in these early development stages. He simply won't be able to play the style of game that he does at juniors, and will be forced to play as more of a wide ball carrier in his first and second years.

Not saying he won't be effective, but we won't see him play to his full potential as an in and under midfielder until he gains at least another 5+kg.

Trengove will be ready to go come round 1, and his scope for improvement will be far lesser than Scully's. But what he''ll deliver now will be very very good.

No. Incorrect BS and HT. He's been trying to improve on that aspect of the game - which clearly indicates that it is still an issue and something that he needs to address in his prep for a game, mentally..

He wasn't hard at the ball while younger and is still addressing this. I dont have an ear piece HT - must be yours. Im not changing his words around..

I'd be very surprised if Trengove was not hard at the ball, given he was the SA Captain, and is playing for the seniors at Sturt. If he didn't go when it was his turn, or on a regular basis, he wouldn't have been a - given the captaincy and b - playing in the seniors.

What i understood from the footage, is that he felt when he was younger, he didn't go as hard as he could, so he now makes that a priority (which he does very well). He is plenty tough and hard, this aspect of his game is one of his strengths.

Watching Thompson, play for the Crows today, reminded me of what can happen. Players, also have seemingly become disloyal to clubs that have picked them, by wanting to return home as soon as possible. Reading all the trade threads, if any of the rumours are true about a number of players wishing to return to their home states, then this is becoming increasingly more acceptable. However, at the same time, I watched Gibbs today and I doubt he'll be one wanting to return to SA any time soon, so I suppose Trengove might stick around. We have to make sure we continue to develop a strong club culture, that makes these kids want to stick around. Thoughts?

I think if we are where we want to be in 2 or 3 years time Trengove will want to stay on board. You wouldn't find a player in thr AFL that is so keen on going home that he would leave a team that is having a good crack at the flag :D

Lets not forget this kid is a goal kicking midfielder, a very valuable asset.

I reckon if we picked up Trengove with our 2nd pick we will not see him leave us. From the way jack comes across, you can tell he has a different personality to scotty. I think he will remain faithful to whichever club picks him up ( hopefully us).

For me, i would compare this kinda scenario to Brad ebert of west coast, a massive buzz occured when he didnt go to an adelaide club, but now he has adjusted to being an eagle and resigned til 2012. I reckon both of these players are alike and will remain with their repsective clubs for their whole careers.

I read somewhere that his dad lives in Victoria and so he would be happy to come across - I did have Scott Thompson on the mind when I first heard about Jack but feel much more comfortable that he will stay - especially once we have a side that will be in finals and he will be part of our first flag since '64!!

We've had Rivers, Walsh, Brown, Bell, Ingerson, and countless other South Australians that have never wanted to go home, but some supporters still get spooked over the 'go home' factor. We even had Darren Kowal who we wanted to ship home to WA and still couldn't get rid of him. An ex-Board member told me that Scott Thompson only went home because he couldn't stand Daniher. Make of that what you will. Also, it's not easy to get back to SA. They're rarely at the bottom of the ladder, so if you refuse to trade them what are they going to do ? Pavlich is from SA and at the biggest basket case club in the AFL and thus far he's remained with the club that drafted him.

I have no concerns over the go home factor when it comes to Trengove. None.

A big reason why Scott Thompson left was because Daniher refused to play him. He wasn't getting anywhere near the amount of game time he should have. An old school mate of mine's cousin was his girlfriend at the time (no joke), and besides being a bit homesick, Scott was not too fond of the relationship he had with Daniher, and was a big reason in why he left.

I just gave some basic examples. I could have mentioned Simon Black who cried when drafted to Brisbane, but never went back to WA. Or Victorians Luke Power who stayed. Or Victorian, Leppitsch. Or the Victorian, Scott Brothers. Or Lappin. I could go on and on and on and on and on. But you'd probably highlight Des headland, who was the only one to leave.

Nearly all players want to be one club players.

My point was, 'it was mentally something he was still addressing'. Right. Yours was 'No, its history - not a concern anymore'. Right.

"Have been trying to improve" -his words- are in present tense, it supports the point i was making (obviously he must still be addressing it- he's the one who mentioned it) and ie: can not be a trend ONLY confined to his childhood, or the past.

But rather, something that has been ongoing since then (his childhood / past).

You're the one (not the kid himself) but YOU have decided he's toughened up and that the jobs complete (or there abouts) and you base your arguement on the opinion you created, that i or others might not necessarily agree with.

In fact I've made a correct assessment - not even an opinion - of the words Trengove himself used.

(My opinion for the record is - he's identified a weakness to work on, which is really good - going in Hard needs to be second-nature at AFL level- so keep improving, make it a strength!

Again, - Happy with either Trengove / Morabito - for pick 2.. just prefer the latter. Both should be stars.)
