yer not sure mate

i would say for pearce prob a player n high pick like 50-60

n maybe for ebert a player like bell or someone

wat do u reckon there worth

Yes, not sure, mate.

I would say; Pearce for, problably, a player and a high pick like 50-60.

Also, maybe for Ebert a player like Bell or someone.

What do you reckon they're worth?

Giving a club Pick 50-60 in this draft is akin to handing someone a spatula after the meat is cooked and served. There at the table and you walk in and say 'here is your spatula that you need for the cooking that is done.'

I think only 50 kids will be taken in the ND this year.

And Ebert for Bell is not going to happen.

Kane Cornes would fetch a pick in the 4-9 area anyone is interested.

well ok then rpfc tell me wat u would give up

if a 50-60 pick is not gonna work then u go a bit lower but i doubt we will trade any of our top 3 picks

and trust me ebert isnt the greatest footballer goin around and port has shown interest in bell so it may happen i wouldn give up much more for ebert

i very much doubt kane cornes would fetch a pick between 4-9 in a shallow draft, hes a run with player and hes 26 goin on 27 too old for us

Why do people continually link Bell with Port or Adelaide?

There is no evidence that he would provide any benefit to either club.

Is compassionate family reunion?

Is the fact that he will be able to stomach the brackish water supply there?

because bell has said he would go home if the opportunity arised and also port has shown interest in him

Why would you bother in a such thin trade to play with such high picks. I am not aware Port showing any interest in Bell. I dont see a need for Ebert. K Cornes might not interest us but he will interest others.

na i just through that up in the air personally i dont rate ebert

n it was said on radio or something port were interested, but we wouldn get much for belly i dont think

yer cornes would prob get pick up by some1 else but i cant see port tradin one of there few decent players

What do you mean "shown interest"? Evidence?

not sure if u heard the radio the other day but 1 of ports recruitment guys said if bell wanted 2 come home they would try 2 strike a deal with melb

but i still think belly will stay with as our future is bright

Bell could well be part of mutaully beneficial discussions with Port. They are going to bleed somewhat at end of season. Bell has no future at Melbourne. If he did it would have been cemented this year albeitly he's been crueled by injury. Bell needs to best his current competition for games and his time has all but ticked out. He might however provide something for Chocco who might be able to breathe new life into him as he has done with Rodan.

Bell, Rivers and 34 for Salopek or Boak and pick 22

yer good point maybe a new start would be best for bell

but i was reading ports website n salopek has been told he is a required player, he having some surgery on the off season

but if we could some how get boak across to melbourne i would be stoked because he is a skillfull player

You obviously rate SS and TB equally, I don't.

Boak will be a very good player, Salopek will be OK IMO.

no..not really...would prefer Boak...but he has eyes for Carlton.. so being just a tad realistic..would be happy with Salopek.

Careful what you see as obvious :)

Bell, 34 & Rivers for 1 Port player and pick 22 in a shallow draft?

Aren't you discounting Rivers to buggery there? Personally I see Rivers as one of the Keys to our defense over the next few years, helping the young guys out until he is slowly pushed out of the starting lineup either due to age or injury.

Thanks.

I didnt hear that interview.

Its curious that they would throw a lifeline to a marginal player in a bottom club when they are imploded from the top down from the Board, to the coach, senior players and young stars.

Its not a matter of whether Belly wants to stay with us. I think we will trade him at first instance. If his contract expired this year he would be a candidate for delisting.

As others have noted elsewhere, he is injury prone, slow, not that agile and an indifferent disposer of the ball. As a consequence you cant counterattack from a player like Rivers and he is limited in the type of player he can play on. Even his supporters see him as our third best backman. As you have noted he will be overtaken by younger more capable types and its happening now.

And in your proposed trade deal in a better draft you are offering would be:

Bell, Pick 45, Rivers for a Port player and pick 30. Bell, pick 45 have little currency. Either Port are going to do a bad deal for themselves or you are not going to get much back.

yer well thats right keeping in mind, delistings

i heard some1 say we only have 2 spots on our list if we elivate spencer

so i would imagine there will still be some more delistings to come or trading players

Fair call RR, I agree that Rivers is our third best backman at the moment and will possibly fall to 4 or 5 as early as next year, but we still need someone with his experience in the rotation.

I would suggest something along the lines of Bell & Pick 34 for one of Salopek, Boak or Pick 22.

I guess it all comes down to how much Port actually want him (or not, could be just another AFL rumour) and how much they are willing to deal, but I just don't think we need to give away players for the equivalent of an empty Whiz Fizz packet. Unless we are desperate to free up spots on the list. If so, surely there are other players ahead of Bell & Rivers, who we need to get off the list first.

Boak would fetch that. Cornes wouldn't he's 27. A pick between 15 to 25 more likely.

I seen how his age would make him lose some value on the market, but a player such of the quility of Kane Cornes would be able to get a pick inside the top 10?

I am not advocating giving players away for free or a wizz fizz!

But in your own words you believe that Rivers will fall from 3rd best to 4th to 5th backman. He will command less value then in 12 months time and with his contract expiring we have less leverage over his destination then. The other issue is how sure are you that he wont be injury prone again.

Which other players who are surplus to our needs and list would have any trade value? Rivers is the only one. Bell does not have value. Nor do PJ or Newton. Can you name any?

Have to agree with that. Cornes is an elite defensive midfielder - teams like Carlton and Collingwood who have a plethora of attacking midfielders would be mad not to consider him with their first pick. May be just outside the top ten given their final positions though.

On a general note though, Port would be very brave to trade a player with the surname Cornes or Ebert......

Nupp !! sad isnt it !!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
