Over on big footy they are talking a Davey for Hale trade. Some are even saying keep Hale. You got to love people's high hopes.

No way i'd trade Rivers. Hale would be interesting though at present he got dropped from a team that lost 9 in a row. Wouldn't rate him in too highly.

Davey wont be going anywhere this century. He's Melbourne through and through and is taking like a duck to water in his mentoring roles. I sense he's quite happy.

What really atm moment does Jared provide that others cant..?? He/s not playing anywhere near his best of a few years ago..arguably he may next year... so it comes down to another gamble.

Thats been our falling down over the years....leaving it too late to trade. hawthorndidnt make that mistake and strangely they managed a Premiership....food for though isnt it !

It's interesting you bring up the Hawthorn analogy and I see your point. I reckon North could say the same thing about dumping Hale as well though! He's not going to be at his highest currency now, but with McIntosh and Goldstein he's found himself on the outer. When you're 25 and unable to get a game in a cellar-dwelling team, that can't say a lot.

I stand by my view that we should only be looking at bringing in players who can help us win a flag. If folks like you, graz and old think he can do that, well great. I'm just highly doubtful he can. Then again, and this really contradicts what I'm saying, if he's the best available at #1 in the PSD, we could do worse. I'd still probably look to pick a teenage kid over him though.

Keep Jamar as the #1 for now while we're useless, work on Spencer and you've got Martin in a relieving, versatile role and Johnson and Meesen as your backups.

Jamar is our #1 ruckman by the length of the Flemington straight. Martin would only be a minor pinch hitting ruckman. Meesen, well the jury is still out on him (it would be nice for him to become serviceable). PJ has gone backwards massively this year (would not complain if he was traded/delisted). As for Spencer, the guy just can't play football. And don't give any of this ''he's a 19 year old from QLD, give him time, he'll develop'". If you can't kick a football, no amount of teaching and developing will correct it. A player must have some level of skill before coming to a club, Spencer has height and that's it. He can't kick, can't handball, gets few tapouts, is slow around the grounds and is not tough enough.

Anyone hanging their hopes on Spencer lifting our ruck stocks are simply kidding themselves. How many more years must we waste with this dud, before everyone else sees it??? He makes PJ look like Dean Cox in comparison.

I think we should trade pick 2 to Richmond for Kayne Pettifer and Richmond's pick 20.

THat sounds like a good deal, right?

... right??

No i would much rather McMahon, he has done far more for the dees this season than many of our players, shows he will be there for the dee's wen games get tight ;)

If we were to have picks 1,2,18,35 in the ND and pick 1 in the PSD, plus elevate Valenti to the senior list, that would allow us to trade/delist/retire 6 players.

Given that the draft is considered (shallow/weak) i think this is how many picks we will use come draft time (maybe using pick 52 in the NAB draft - maybe).

We really need to trade players that wont be playing in our premiership side in 2012.

Players on the table to trade or delist for me weather it be this year or next would be....

Robbo

Jmac

Wheatley

Dunn

Jones / Brock (1 or the other)

Miller

Whealen

Johnson

*Bruce, Green could be getting a bit old in the tooth by 2012

Facts are none of these players will play in a premiership side. Jones and Brock is a tuff decision as they are still young but we have to many of these type of players.

Tuff decisions need to made with the head not the heart.

1 more year to prove worth would be

Bell, Bate and Newton. If next year dosen't happen for them, well out the door aswell. But saying that if we could get somthing decent for Bate or Bell i'd

take it.

Bates not in the same catagory as bell and newton. No way.

What's he actually ever done? Last 4-5 weeks has 1-2 ok qtrs........ THATS IT! I would have him on the trade table now or even delist if it wasnt for his last 4 weeks. Too many short steps for me. Hence the 1 more year to prove his worth.

Exactly.....with the head. Brock will be part of our future side and Jones. As much as it may seem on here players are not as disposable as made out to be on here.

Nah bugger it ........On the trade table ,(Bate) cant see him being a premiership player. Ripping games apart off his own boot.

When was the last time Jones hit a target by hand or foot? With our young guns comming through we need more pace not clog up the list with 5-6 same type of player. Must get the balance right.

Bate will be a gun half forward. Comparing him to Newton?

Take Dunn off the list and put Bell and Newton on there. They've had their chance. They can't cut it in a bottom team, they can't cut it in the AFL.

ATM I think JMac, Robbo, Wheatley, Whelan will go at the end of the year. Green will play a huge role next year as (hopefully) captain; he could last another 4 seasons, I reckon. He's signed till the end of 2011, he might get another year or two after that. Bruce....maybe two more years.

Right now I'd take Jones over Brock, just; but let's see what he'll do with a big pre season.

BTW, does anyone know if there is a site or something which has a full list of player contracts?

Newton is a non arguement. He is contracted till the end of next year. Yes contracts of our list would open this debate up properly.

Should I compare Bate to Miller then???? Bate has done nothing. Can Bate kick 3-5 goals in a grand final against a Saint or Cat? hmmm

On the w/e his kicking was much better. He is starting to turn into a goal kicking mid as well.

So Mclean is not an issue anymore?

Like I said one or the other. I'm leaning towards Brocky

Where were you on Sunday, gOLLy? He drilled a 45 metre pass, low and hard down one of our forwards throats (Newton was it?). Jones can be extremely frustrating, but I think we continue with him.

Yes exactly, I can see why people may think twice about Jones but at least he showed us that sort of kicking is in his repertoire....just needs to do it more often.

His hard ball winning efforts are fantastic and if he can keep adding goals and kick's like that one on the w/e he could pass all of our expectations.

Yes it was good to see, but the handballs to feet....... I don't wanna player bash cos doing this sucks it was just my thoughts on the 2012 team that's all

He did the same this week ago, a great pass out into space for Miller IIRC (city end, members side).

Very likely I'd say. But he'll probably kick them against Gold Coast in 2013.

Have you not watched many North games this season?

Andrew Swallow is developing into a fine in and under performer.

Then what is Jones?

Swallow is a 'little' overrated personally. He and Jones are the same sort of players. Swallow kicks a few more goals thats it really, Swallow 22 and Jones 21.

So they won't trade him then.

I thinkt he only way to get gun players will be by having picks in the first 15 of the draft, or some lucky drafting later on. Therefore I thinkwe should be trying to trade for top 15 picks. I could see Green and Bruce playing a role up forward and in the middle for Carlton. Their first pick (10ish) for those two perhaps. I also think Jones, McLean and Moloney are similar players and there won't be enough spots for all three in the future so Jones could be used to upgrade pick 15. Rivers may also want to go back to South Australia for him, but I wouldn't be giving him up too easily. All hypothetical, but I was interested in getting an opinion on these trades

KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
