After match function

Just wondering If anyone went along after the game today? I wouldnt have thought many would have.

I attended the function at Melbourne Park. I would have thought about 800-1000 (edit: maybe this is a slight overly optimistic point of view... 5-600? Anyone else want to have a crack?) turned out - I noticed A LOT of interstate people put their hands up when they asked. I was pretty impressed and the speakers also seemed quite impressed all alluding to the fact that we got flogged on a crap-weather day.

The MC had a bit of a chat to Dunn and Newton as the players who didn't play turned up about 20 mins before anyone else.

Schwabby spoke and answered a lot of questions for about 30 mins, he spoke well. Alot of questions about a social club for memebers and the Casey deal/new facilities at MOP

Jimmy Stynes then spoke and answered questions.

Then the players and coach turned up (minus Watts and one other who I think may have been Jones)

DB Spoke and answered a few questions from the MC (who I personally thought was pretty poor)

Then the MC Spoke to Sylvia, who spoke well, McDonald and then Bell. All the players and DB seemed pretty disappointed with McDonald even apologizing for the effort.

Amongst that there was socialising with the players etc.

I enjoyed it considering free entry, was impressed with the turn out and may pop along to the next one.

I didn't have the time to give up for the AfterMatch function.... but called in briefly to the hassett room.... surprised at the numbers there. Big no 4 John Lord was guest speaker, and not real happy with the current game plan. (can't blame him )

It took us a while to find it, because there weren't any signs. But if you've ever been to the Aus Open, it was in the function rooms that overlook the main lawn area.

The manager of the Choir of Hard Knocks took a printer down to an event to ensure they had decent signs (hand-written wasn't good enough) yet we can't get anything happening.

I heard something about it pre-match over the speakers. They should have put something on the screen, you're quite right. Seems simple enough.

They did have it up on the screen numerous times but it said something about corner of light way and nowhere st but did not actually mention where the streets were. I could not hear the annoucements during the game and I was right behind the punt road goals so had no idead were the after function was.

I seriously cannot believe that people here are saying they either didn't know there was an aftermatch, where it was or how to get there. As Toot said many of the people at the function were interstaters and none of them had trouble finding it!

Stop blaming the club for your own poor efforts.

Incidentally one of the questions thrown up for Cameron Scwabb related to a social club (after match gathering facility) within the MCG. This is something they are working on as part of the re-alignment.

I got to the arena surrounded by fencing, didn't see anyone & I was early before the end of the game, or just @ the final siren. It was cold & had stopped raining. I looked across the road to the Storm area, just didn't know where the bloody harrison room was or whatever it's called, so when I realised there would be a long wait for players, I just went home.

Thanks for the Run Down Toot but the Club must make it easy to find afterwards...Please. Maybe a light with a door open, even Better someone standing there Directing. Might have cost the club 200 supporters. Not good enough.

I think it was difficult. I'm not 100% but I (and my mate) thought it was at Olympic Park. We scoured that place in the rain and cold looking for the function and we weren't alone. By sheer luck it was with a group of loyal supporters that we made the decision to gamble on Rod Laver arena. Started walking still unsure and the group only walked forward without trepidation after someone announced that the woman on the phone asking for directions was James McDonalds mother. We were so pumped to attend post match but if I have to rely on chance meetings with players parents or siblings i'm mildly put off. Better instructions, and maybe even a clear announcement pre-game at fed square would've been great.
