i still feel really 'dirty' hoping the dees only win 4 games this season.. but a sacrifice for the future!!

personally i am hoping the following win this week to help us gain this result:

Freo v Hawks - only reason i want hawks to win is so they get form back as they play us next week!!

Melb v Dogs - this pains me..

Cats v North - impossible!! but go north (get away from our bottom place!)

Lions v Crows - doesnt really matter this one.. but i think lions will do better this season.. so go crows (same as north)

Swans v Eagles - another step closer to the eagles getting over 4 wins and staying away from our PP's!

Port v Tigers - come on tiges! you can do it!! (obvious reasons)

Pies v Blues - i should probably pick pies seeing they are playing us soon.. but i hate pies with a passion.. go blues!

saints v essendon - same as pies..not a big essendon fan.. plus wont really effect us

half of these will never happen..but oh well!

thoughts?

go easy on me (i know there are those on this site that just want us to win this season.. i too would like that.. but when we are 1-7 and seeing the line up we have left to face in the year.. you have to think of the future!!)

yeh that is true.. but we could possibly take out hawks next week if they are sucking so bad.. then again we dont have much of a back line and they still have roughy and buddy to tear us a new..

I agree. As much as it pains me too, I also want 2 priorities. However, I have a feeling the dees might start to come good in the second half of the season, we're getting better every week, and it's starting to scare me.

Haha, me too. I haven't been able to sleep that well lately, just thinking about our potential draft picks lol. Yes horribly sad. :D

I think youve gone to far into it. its still early days in the season. Just hope were very competetive and the rest of the competetion will slowly get ahead of us.

We're 1-6.

Yeah, god forbid we can string some wins together. Install a bit of confidence within the tream, give them the winning feeling. Hell they might even start to improve if we win.

Seriously!

I'm all for us winning only 4 games or less if we play kids and they just can't get there, but i stop short of coming out and BARRACKING for the dees to lose. I just can't do it. That said, I won't judge others for barracking in their own way... On match-day I'm not hoping for 12 point losses, I'm barracking for a win, and then sit and contemplate the regret later...

If we are going to finish near the bottom (which is pretty damn likely at this stage), my personal preference is to finish second last (with 4 wins or less).

Might just be me, but i'd prefer 1st pick and 3rd pick, rather than 1st pick, 2nd pick and the spoon.

Me too. I'm going tomorrow, and I wanna see us win. If we lose, well, I won't exactly cry, but my first want is for us to win.

Yes its just you and the other lunatics in the asylum.

Stay right there..the men in white coats will be along shortly.

What on earth would you hope to achieve by forfeiting the 2nd pick ??

Thoughts? Well I think I have heard it all now.

You want Hawthorn to win this weekend because you want them to be in some sort of form when they play us the following week? Because if they're not, well, we could beat them. Oh hell.

Ok, whatever. I don't know why you're even bothering to follow the club this season.

I'd love to get picks 1 and 2 in the event that we win four or less games which is likely. But I could never hope that club loses.

But whatever works for you.

Who cares about wooden spoons, I mean does anyone even remember who got it last year?

Richmond is really our only concern. In saying that I still think we will win no mre than 4 game.

Is Butcher a Fevlola type forward? Can someone give me a comparision so I know what sort of player he is.

Hard to make a comparison when he's still developing but he isn't a Fevola type. Fev is 6'3" while Butcher is around 6'6". Butcher is often described in reports as a power forward. Still has to put some weight on but could well become a mountain of a man. As it stands he is only 83kgs.

the tigers still play us , eagles and the crows at the mcg, and before anyone laughs the bombers twice. plus if wallace is sacked midyear the tigers will come out and win the next week

You idiot. That's my thought.

Am I the only one who won't be disappointed if we win tomorrow?

I can imagine the panic on this forum tomorrow if we win: threads like -

"What were we thinking?

winning the game!"

"Butcher and Scully in jeopardy

our rebuilding is ruined"

"We HAVE to lose

to either Richmond, West Coast or Port Adelaide"

It's a funny place to be in really.......

I mean during the week its very much about what we need to re-establish ourselves and improve our future, which would arguably mean finishing at the bottom of the ladder, and winning a maximum of four games (although it's probably a little presumptuous to assume even that), but come game time its yelling and screaming and barracking, wanting just to see the boys pull out a victory.

And then after the match is done and the loss (most likely) is recorded its back to our current reality, our potential future and it's four games only, remember four games only.

And then we do it all over again, and again, and again.......and again :P !!!

You know, I'm quite similar really. I almost get white line fever, in that I completely forget about the draft picks, until the final moments of the match and we're down. Afterall, I've supported Melbourne all my life, you can't just switch off like that. I go thinking, give it a good shake. We're not expected to get particularly close in any of our next 3 matches, so over the next few rounds, I want us to just keep steadily improving. Improvement is what I'm looking for from every player and if I get that, irrespective of the result, I'm happy.

Yeah, makes no sense to me, I gotta say.

From what I've heard and pictures that I've seen of him, he reminds me of Watts, but a bit more of a stay at home forward, whereas Watts could almost play in the midfield in time.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
