Don't bother arguing with Freak kids, he has it in for Miller......

To be fair to freak Miller would have difficulty in breaking into just about any other team, but I agree that he currently is the best key forard we have.

I'm with you 100% this kid just has something about him ... we might have a smokie here!

the fact that we NEED that priority pick coupled with the fact that Miller is still given our number 1 forward role suggests that we have already started an interesting process called....'the tank'. Nevertheless he does try but Miller will be the sole reason why we hopefully get the priority pick, so ironically, its his best asset.

No need to bring a camera because the match will be broadcast live on ABC1.

Thanks a lot for alerting us to this, KC.

There's no way I would have known it was on without your info.

And what an important game it was for Melb supporters to see! Watts' first intro to senior footy. The emergence of McKenzie, McNamara , Valenti and Hughes.

Also the chance to see Cousins coming back. Plus we won (in stark contrast to the likely outcome this arvo!)

I just figured it out. You used to date Pia didn't you?

Just a quick point to mention. Jack turned 18 only a couple of months ago. He just snagged 3 in a game of senior footy... He may not be fit, but he was a presence, even at his tender age, using nothing but talent (he sure as [censored] hasn't got the yards under his belt, or the training). Does anyone else find this a little remarkable?

A couple of things stood out for me re the Casey v Coburg game.

Liked the look of Hughes! Thought he looked very dangerous up forward and very determined.Love to see him given a shot with MFC.

Couldn't believe the coolness of Jack Watts under pressure for an 18 year old.His control of the footy below his waist area for a kid that is 195 cm was astounding. His excellent skill on his non preferred was also special. Believe the hype! He is the real deal.

The astute coaching of Peter German and the way he has the team playing.Looks to be a very competent coach.

Treked out to City Oval. Good to see Casey win and to see so many young Dees in the Casey Ones.

Senior List

McNamara - Reads the play well across half back, shows poise when deep in defence and runs hard to create options in defence and through the midfield. Very impressive. Kicked 1.2. Will don the Dees jumper soon if his form does not drop.

Newton - Presented well and kicked 5. Did his chance of a recall no harm.

Grimes - Not really sighted until last quarter. Nm 64 a nice touch from born n bred Demon. Needs more games under his belt to challenge for senior selection.

Bell - Found the ball but did not show much poise with it. Needs a few more games under his belt and to impress more if he is to force his way into the team.

Cheney - Not a standout game but a tidy one.

Bail - Won plenty of the ball. Kicking was off early but improved. Promising.

Whelan - Showed his customary poise and ferocity. For mine would need another game to show he has the fitness/durability necessary to play out a full game at AFL Level.

Watts - Very promising VFL Senior debut as a roaming half forward. Runs hard, not shy of a contest, Can take possesion in the air and on the ground. Is great on his right and good on his left - slotted a nice pass on his left from the outer wing in front of me to Centre Half Forward. Seems to have good goal sense. Needs a few more games at Casey just to get used to playing against men and to build match fitness but is slotted for a Friday Night Round 12 debut against Essendon (Plus - exposure on friday night TV, Con - Don's home game at Etihad: access for Dees fans?) according to today's paper. Tiges fans were a tad jealous.

Wonaeamirri - Was sucked in by Jake 'Clanger' King early on and struggled to work his way into the game. Needs another run at Casey as he continues his comeback from the hammy.

Rookies

Hughes - Is a strong overhead mark for his height, has good pace and spring. Kicked 3 and impressed. I'd promote him for either Garland or Blease and bring him in for Bate.

Valenti - Just keeps racking up the stats at VFL level. Good hands, strong body, good footwork and distributes well. A chance for promotion with Hughes.

McKenzie - Showed plenty of promise as an inside mid - certinaly knows how to get it. Needs to work on his kicking.

Here is the official report by German on Melbourne listed players .... http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/newsart...74/default.aspx

Jordie McKenzie – Jordie was fantastic. He was in our top three players on the day. Week after week now, he's starting to show his run and ability. He's also clean with the ball and is able to find teammates from clearances.

Tom McNamara – Tom played in the back half. He's really starting to string some consistent games together and is able to restrict his opponents. His composure in one-on-one situations has been fantastic. He's also given us some good rebound and is really starting to make some good inroads. If he keeps that up, he won't be too far away from Melbourne selection.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    POSTGAME: Rd 09 vs Carlton

The Demons were blown out of the water in the first quarter and clawed their way back into the contest but it was a case of too little too late as they lost another close one to Carlton losing by 1 point at the MCG.
