Demonland Player of the Year

Bate's kicking may not be great, but he showed some great signs toward the end of the game like taking a great contested mark. That is what we want to see.

If Bate can keep taking those marks that we desperately need inside our 50, kicking skills can come after.

The commentators mentioned they can imagine him a 3rd tall in a premiership side. Bate`s kicking skills were pretty good today. He`s not a bad set shot, And Brad Green tell you want don`t know why he isn`t one of the competitions best players, Very underated and Aaron Davey another super performance on his way to win the bluey. Good signs in the Last quarter.

6. Davey

5. Jones

4. Bruce

3. Green

2. Morton

Martin is quick for his size, but Martin's main fault is when possessing the footy he is sometimes unsure of what to do.

Stefan Martin is a star. Love him. Has been a great replacement for Garland. Just keeps getting better and better. The Backline looking very promising. Frawley did ok on Motlop and Warnock work ethic is unquestionable. Forward line weren`t in front and times. Jetta struggled but tried hard and Brad Green, Bate,Miller and Bruce all cashed in with Majors.

All Bate needs to do now is become consistent.

He needs to kick 2 or 3 goals on a weekly basis and if he can do that it will help the forward line by a long shot.

So does Brad Miller. Brad Green is on track to win our leading goal kicker by a long way.

My 50th post this is, since joining Demonland just 3 days ago.

Well I guess I'll have to concede defeat on the Bate issue.

He is an extremely frustrating player IMO, he is absolutely hopeless below his knees, and too often gets pushed aside in a marking contest. Yes he worked very hard today, and his kicking is generally very good, but he never really influences a match, he just teases us with glimpses of good play.

Well that's what young players do, tease. If Bate has a problem it's that he's so one sided. He's a good long kick, and I disagree that he's terrible below his knees, he found the ball pretty well today a number of times and turned some pretty good opponents inside out. He's not a fantastic contested mark, but he doesn't usually drop sitters either. His real strength is his endurance, he worked his way into the game today and didn't drop his head which is a big step forward from last year IMO.

yes he usually is but today he actually got plenty there thought he worked harder today in an undermanned forward line

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
