He's got guts and guts is enough for me at the moment. Too many times last year everybody stood around waiting for somebody else to get the ball while they got the easy hand off (which more often than not didn't come). The more "You've got my ball and I want it back" players the better. He's never going to captain the club or win a brownlow, but there have been many great players who have lacked in skills but made up for it by pure G&D by letting the opposition players know that there are no easy possesions while they're around. I'll take a Valenti in my team over some of the other Rolls-Royce, never get your hans dirty, players that go around these days. He might never win us a flag but if we lose one with him in the team it sure as hell won't be for his lack of trying.

I wholeheartedly agree.

So most opinions are that Valenti is of little or no value, some have said that we won't win a grand final with players like him and most have just said "no, he is not in my best 22" and left it at that.

While we haven't seen much of him play it will be interesting to see how much of a go he gets with a full pre season.

It's such a naive thing to see that we won't win a premiership with players like him. What an uneducated statement that is. Are people saying premiership sides are full of Judd's, Browns, Riewoldts, Hirds, etc etc.

Hawthorn: Ladson, Osborne?

Port Adelaide: Carr?

Brisbane: Heart?

Geelong: stokes?

Essendon: Mark Johnson?

I could name so many, and not just small players but I have named these few because they are valenti type players. They are the same height and some play/played in a similar position. Think about how many other players there are that don't have the greatest 'natural ability', but are so good for what they do.

I don't need to name names as it's fairly easy to see who the Roles Royce's are and who the old Volvo's are (that just never give up).

As the saying goes, a superstar team wins premierships, not a team of superstars.

Some of you are saying that we should already get rid of him?? He has barely had an opportunity and when he has, its ALWAYS a strong contest. Everyone in the team needs a disposal clean up, not just Valenti. This is when I question why we still persist with players like Newton over Valenti. Yes I know we didn't have a key position player in the forward line after Neitz retired but he is not our answer. We have Johnson or Miller, maybe Garland and Watts is coming along. Personally I would go for a smaller full forward or forward line if I had to chose whether to play Newton or not.

Valenti will never be a superstar and neither will most of our list. But his attitude and the way he plays is something we MUST have at this footy club. We don't have many players that make you think twice about going for the ball. If he improves the other aspects of his game, (skills, fitness, awareness) then I think he will be more than just a hole plugger for our side.

He is exactly where he should be. On the rookie list, with another year ahead of him to prove what he has got.

If he has another year like he did this year then he should be elevated. He is a great player to have as depth.

Alot rides on Moloney's health.

Can we re-rookie him at the end of the year?

Reliable in close, hard and determined, balanced and rarely goes to ground, and actually gets the ball out.

FCS 2008 was his first season, and playing in a team with little success - what do you expect.

Not quick on his feet - but was Greg Williams?????

IMO he will turn out a very valuable and effective player for us, given time.

ive always loved shane and still beleive he can become a very important player of our future, but if the case was either elevate wona or valenti from wat ive herd we made the right desicion. Look forward to seeing how they both go throug out the year.

Maybe not in the best 22 at the moment, but bloody close to it! His endevour and determination is second to none, and I love his grunt and ability to stand up in a tackle. This has been sorely missed at the MFC in recent times. It's a joke that some say having him on our list is a joke. I was VERY suprised he was not promoted. It's even funnier to think that some of the people paying out on Valenti would rather Juice played ahead of him. I know who'd I'd rather have!

Doesn't matter if he is in your best 22 until someone goes down with an injury he can't play. If he was on the senior list would he be in the 22 depends on the form of Mclean, Moloney, Jones and McDonald, these are the guys he is up against.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
