Noted some discussion about still working on an acceptable alternative strip.

Wouldn't it be easier just to use the Scorpion jumper or a derivative of it. If we cannot use our traditional jumper better to use one we can at least relate to.

I like the alternate thinking, but no.

It really worries me that everyday punters on internet forums (Demonland, Demonology and BigFooty) can create very good alternative jumpers very quickly, yet for some reason just weeks out from the NAB Cup the MFC are still to finalise a design.

Not a bad idea, given the colour match.

But which one, they seem to have 2:

Pics are from Scorpio web site.

Presumably the red one is the go? With Demon image instead of Scorpion.

I quite like the idea of both clubs having mutual alternative strips if this can be done to both their satisfaction. Both have predominantly red and blue and in fact, the old Springvale jumper was very close to ours except that it had the white logo and the red collar was smaller. It shouldn't be too hard for something to be worked out between the clubs.

Your kidding! You guys who like this idea really want to be a VFL side. Should'nt even be thinking down that line.

We are not the Scorpions but the Demons!

I cannot see why we have not decided on the red strip with the blue MFC logo on it. No clashes there! And a very distinctive jumper it would be for the club.

I Follow the Demons not Springvale. This alliance is not my idea But i have to live with it. I would Prefer a reserve Side wearing a MFC Jumper. Don't Rub it in any further by putting the Senior Team in the Springvale Jumper Please!!

I have to agree here. We don't need to lower ourselves further to the point of 'borrowing' another clubs' jumper design because we couldn't design our own. If there's going to be a similarity in the jumpers, it should be a MFC jumper design.

Agree with that.

Does for me raise an intersting notion. How do many see a relationship with the Scorps ?

Are we not embarking upon a new era. A rebirth of sorts; a long term arrangement with Casey ? How better could we do it bt to really immerse ourselves at that level than to have some commonality in apearance as well as fervour and desire ?

I could see nothing wrong with similar away jumpers.. differing only in scorpion and demon. I like the idea. It has merit. Arguably all will not see it. That too is fine.. its about opinions after all.

I am not sure if this is the official jumper or not but it is on the MFC website so I think that it is fairly likely that this will be our new clash jumper/NAB cup jumper.

It displays the unnofficially new demon logo (that isn't allowed to come into place until 2010 under AFL rules).

I believe Russell Howcraft is responsible for the organisation of this logo.

The jumper is the same as it was in 2007 design wise, but the logo is obviously what separates them.

Even though, I don't like this new demon that much, I stll think that it is better to use the demon on the jumper than the old-fashioned "MFC" logo because we want to attract kids more than anything atm.

Not sure if it's just the photo, but the blue seems darker than normal, so maybe Cameran Schwab is bringing back the darker blue (also for the main jumper) like he said he would to match the jumper desing used in the Golden Era of the Demons.

What do people think?

PS, I know there are several other threads on this, but they all seem to have their own little discussions (ie, whether we should wear the Scorpians jumper), so I thought this warrented a new thread.

the colours (whether clash or otherwise) should be dark blue and blood red.

and i'd even like to see our normal strip return to the smaller red yolk (with more red on the back) rather than the current large 'v'. obviously that would be tough against carlton, but we have to wear the clash against carlton anyway. and more blue on the front and red on the back would limit the clash with essendon, st kilda and freo to some extent.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
