Exclusive members polo top

Recommended Posts

Now I know there is a bit of negativity out there re our lack of sponsorship, debt etc but my friends we have just hit a new low! Has anyone else received an email flogging these Polo tops yet? You`d have thought that our merchandise department would have done a little more research than pick up a David Jones catalogue from 1975 and decide to go with this! Now I am no fashionado, I love my shorts, thongs and singlet, but this is just awful!

Agree 100%. When I got the e-mail I was really shocked at how awful it is.

Hopefully some will like it or the MFC shop will have more stock to write-down!

Yep, I agree to - it's a disgrace.

There is no way I would buy one of these shirts.

Whoever chose this, obviously chose last years clash jumper as well - they should get their eyes checked and maybe stop looking for the 'latest' fashions in 'Op Shops'.

I am baffled AD. I would gladly spend $60 bucks on a good quality simple blue polo with our logo on it but do they honestly think this poor excuse for a table cloth is gonna sell?? We desperately need more supporters wearing Dees merchandise and putting more money in the coffers but I doubt we will see too many of these on show at the G this year unless the poor players have to wear them for media gigs and functions.

would love to see the polo lol.

Oh no, I really don't think you would.

Frankly, I can't even see much that makes it look like Demon's merchandise, as opposed to random red, grey and blue horizontal stripes...

Reminds me a little of the horrible rugby union polo tops you see sometimes.

I'll just be buying the simple dark blue witha bit of red ones, thanks.

I disagree. As my monica suggests, I'm long past being young and fashionable, and the new top will suit me just fine ..... as well as showing my allegiance to the footy club and putting a few $s into their coffers.

Yeah gotta agree with the consensus on this one, it is a shocker. Perhaps Im in the wrong demographic.

I don't see anything wrong with it. By nature sporting club fashion is generally fairly average.

This is no worse than many others. Its main function is to display the club's colours & it does that.

Seriously, sometimes I think the majority of our supporters are addicted to a bit of self-flagellation.

I reckon it would go alright with one of those lovely bomber jackets you see some people wearing. Particularly one of those special ones that has the big leather patches on the back that have 'Outer Wear' stitched into them. I have always wished I could get my hands on one of those. They are exclusive 'Outer Wear' editions after all, not just for anyone.

I am a Melbourne supporter, and I love my club. As such, I wear all our schonky members gear with pride. Maybe pride is the wrong word...

I was born in 1981... I'm still waiting for something above mediocrity. Until tha happens, and hopefully with J Watts and co it's in the next 5 - 10 years, I am happy for any practical excuse to donate to the MFC without drawing too much grief from the GF

For everyone else slightly more trendy than I... Everyone needs something to wear to bed

Absolute bloody awful.....

Who is making these decisions on merchandise? There is alot in this department to be answered for. I wonder why the club arnt making any money. We are actually losing it through stupid decisions like this. Merchandise should be very profitable avenue for the club. It is clearly not and needs a serious over haul immediately.....

I am not sure if it is an individual or group decision on merchandising decisions? But you all should be shot on-site..... Fair dinkum! I feel sick....

Sorry to those that have asked for a link but I cant figure out how to do it from a personal email address and it is nowhere to be seen on the MFC website (curiously) Just be grateful you cant see it , or if you are really desperate, i suggest you become a member and you will certainly be offered the said exclusive polo!

In all seriousness, in reference to what DT just said previously, i think the merchandise team could have done far better by perhaps coming up with a few designs and ask the Melbourne supporters what their preferred designs would be, so we might actually sell more than half a dozen!

Great idea - perhaps it can be marketed as the "MFC Pyjama top".

That polo is hardly the height of design or innovation, but I can understand why the club feels it has more important things to spend money on, than product developers (who are very expensive).

Having said that, merchandise can and does generate a hell of a lot of money for many AFL clubs, and the same can be true for us if we put some effort into it.

I'm waiting to get the OK from my employer and then I'll contact the club regarding this issue. I'm more than happy to offer my time and knowledge in the area of product development if it means helping the club generate more revenue through better merchandise.

Received mine in the post the other day and have worn it a couple of times. I really didn't think much of it when I first saw it, but was pleasantly surprised, very good quality and easy to spot in the crowd. ;) . Of course I also think most of the in-vogue fashion now reminds me of the seventies... so what would I know.

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo
