Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

for mine it was the emergance of some promising young talnt. then picking up Watts and Jurrah. the indiginous boys all bring the x factor , i cant wait to see him in the forward 50 with Aussie and the Flash. as Big Kev (R.I.P) would say , Im excited

best, garland, aussie , morton ,martin, and i think simon buckley is going to be a lot better than we thought, that lads got a fair bit of dash. worst by a long shot was the last game of season , whitey and ooze deserved better than that.

BEST:

Fremantle (rd 7) - One of the best wins I've experienced since 1989. Fancy coming back from 51 points.

Brisbane (rd 14) - Gutsy comeback from being 11 points down at the 28 minute mark. Beat a team in form.

West Coast (rd 20) - Sorry but even though this was one the worst wins I can remember, it still beats an honorable loss.

The Collingwood, Geelong (rd 3), Hawthorn (rd 9) and Essendon games were games where we could hold our heads high as a club.

WORST:

Geelong (rd 19) - Probably the reason we didn't get any home Fri night games next year.

Richmond (rd 22) - Pitiful disgraceful display. [censored] way to send MFC greats out. The players didn't play for the coach. The players should be made to watch this game over and over again to install in their heads that this type of performace cannot be tolerated at the MFC.

St Kilda (rd 10) - The players were not interested, pure and simple. Robbo set the tone in the first minute with his fluff up in the goal square. I guess it didn't help that St Kilda were beaten up all week by the media (after a bad loss to Brisbane)

Best:

Hawthorn (the second time)

I agree with that one because it was the first sign we showed of the value of our emerging youth and especially down back. We worried the ultimate premiers all day and were still within striking distance just 8 rounds after the same opposition had pantsed us in the opening game. If we can build on that with further team and individual improvement, a healthy team and the introduction of some more skillful young players then we have a future.

By far the best single event was PJ run down of the Brisbane player. This happened just in front of us, the look on his face said the Brisbane

was never going to get away.

His attitude should be taken up by all the players.

The Best

1. Cale Morton

2. Colin Garland

3. Stef Martin

4. Jack Grimes overcoming a significant injury, playing a game and doing a full PS to Christmas.

5. Dean Bailey's composure under pressure.

The Worst

1. Round 19 (Geelong)

2. Round 21 (PA at AAMI)

3. Round 22 (Richmond)

Wins and losses mean nothing in a year like 2008. Players are our future and I think we have 4 rippers.

I'd nearly include round 20 in the worst (where we beat WC) but the last four games of the season were the most painful I've had to sit through.

Best

From an individual standpoint, Garland's improvement, some flashes from Wona, Martin, Morton and Buckley, and just Brad Green in general.

In terms of games, probably the second Hawthorn loss and the first Geelong loss

Worst

The same mistakes from Round 1 were being made in Round 22

Green not winning the B+F

The one man forward line

Three wins - all at the MCG, all against interstate sides, one of which was tanking, and the other two against sides with a combined away record of 3-19 (and the only win of those three in Melb was at TD, not the G).

yeah i thought green was bloody fantastic this year. constantly running back with the flight of the ball to take contested marks. definately thought he shoulda won the b&f. one of the few playes to stand up and want to play for the jumper. despite the trade week rumours. really only proved he wanted to play for the jumper in the end.

i can't put an honourable loss in the best 3, and i can't put in a win against a team that didn't really want to win. i can only really say there were 2 'best' games.

the freo comeback and the brissy game (which we deserved to win all day mind you)

but to say there was only 2 is really sad.

i think hawthorn in round 1 was the most disappointing. to go into round 1 with the hope of the season ahead and to come out of that game with a 100 point loss was extremely disappointing.

R19 geelong and R 22 richmond, to roll over and not even give a whimper, whilst sending off club champions is really a disgrace and an absolute embarassment.

The best moments have already been well covered, - Jimmy taking the presidency would also have to be well up there.

for me the best thing I took away from 08 was nov-dec. Suddenly, almost overnight the club turned around poor off field performance. We signed a living legend as a coach. Drafted as well as we could have done so and suddenly there seems to be a real belief around the place. Debt demolition would also have to be right up there, with out this we may not have had a club.

The single moment though - PJ how could you go past that.

The worst for me would have been our performance off field. At times more embarrising then any of our performances. Also add all the injuries sustained early in the year.

Best moment in 09 - Jurriah to kick one after the siren to beat the filth and knock them out of the 8.

Worst in 09 - no major sponser?

    GAMEDAY: Rd 09 vs Carlton

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
