I just purchased my new membership. The membership consultant Bernard was very helpful. I asked him how many members the club currently has and he said its sitting just on 16,000.

Its really great to see the club has passed the 15,0000 target it was looking for!

Good Stuff demon85, your joining at a really exciting time!

35,000+ without even breaking into a sweat. I might have to up my original prediction of 38,000+ Wouldn't it be great if like Carlton we won the preseason comp.

Roost It, 38,000 ? I doubt that very much. I will stick to my prediction earlier, 31,565.

If we win a few early I agree 35k+ is a real chance. If we start similar to last year 30k will be closer. Very important to have a good NAB cub game even if we loose. It has to be a close game.

Agree HT. 31-32k would be a great result, any more fantastic. I believe that would easily be our record.

Anyway you can add 4 more as I am about to renew for my family as soon as I finish this post.

More often than not, in NAB Cup games upsets occur. I doubt Hawthorn will be fielding a full strong list in Rd 1 of the NAB cup. Melbourne on the other hand will want to present well for its fans and its "new sponsors/partnerships". An earlier start to the pre-season and good preparation IMO will ensure Melbourne puts in a strong list for their opener. I think it will be close, and it would not surprise me at all if the Dees come up trumps over the Hawks.

Technical question,

Does anyone know if the new Demon Heartland memberships count towards the official total?

Very good question I_A_N. No it does not count towards the tally.

HT. I'll wager you 1 Demon Heartland membership we get over 35,000 members in 2009. Now there's a bet no good Demon can lose!

haha. Good stuff. Alright, we're on. We'll see June 30, 2009. The Mfc will be the winner! I like it.

edit: - And just to show you how confident my predicted tally of 31,565 is, if I get 'within' 500 either way (500 less or 500 more of 'MY' predicted tally), I'll buy another 2 x Demon Heartland memberships for 2010. (ie. between 31,065>32,065)

Hope you are right. I am sick of watching us play our NAB cup game on TV, lose and then never see them until the season proper because they play challenge matches in Nar Nar Goon or Wagga Wagga.

Have I told you I hate the AFL, lately?

Have they kept with the Gold, silver and bronze idea they started last year?

I hope so because I am due for a gold one for 2009.

yes they have

the cards look fairly similar in fact with the logo in the bottom right hand corner but they have a big demon logo on a diagnal...

i like them

however, every year, everybody will get new cards, they are not continuing the renew thing cos the system they did it on last time was faulty

Thats four more members, my family have renewed. Thrown in a prospective new member as well.

Good stuff. I put my family in too, with a new addition this time (7 week old son).

Back to the NAB Cup, Luke Hodge may be in doubt for NAB Cup, but they're expecting him to be available mid- NAB Cup (they didn't even say if they're still in it - they're cocky aren't they!: -

Campbell and Croad also a chance to miss the opening of the NAB.

Pre-Season delay for Hodge

Last year we played at Geelong, Cranbourne and Ballarat - all within an easy drive from the 'G.

Anyway, I support having teams play in regional centres etc. You're unhappy about missing out on a few NAB challenge games - imagine how you'd go living out there ;p

Shouldn't I buy them if your that accurate? I'll tell you what I buy 2 more if we get to 38,000 members. One thing everyone needs to remember is that we ned these memberships to be ongoing.

I agree, tell you what, it's a real conspiracy theory of mine this NAB fixturing. It seems the AFL actually WANT us to get off on a dampener as this is the second year in a row playing the reigning premiers away from home - bear in mind the odds of that just happening naturally are 900 to one.

I'll be buying my unemployed friend his first membership, in the hope that once he gets a steady paycheck he will continue it and we will have one more member for life.
