I just looked into it....

21/feb/09 16:10 kick off local time.

cheap fairs over with any of the 3 (virgin, jetstar, tiger) sat morning. But there is nothing back that night????? The latest flights are 4.30-5pm. Also last time I went there the ground is a fair distance from the airport so with all this being the case - are there any supporter packages available? If one has to stay over I would rather do it through the club or a supporter group. I'm starting to think TV might be the best option for this game.

If Sydney beat Port we'll most likely play Port at AAMI on the Saturday.

It would be a major departure to their usual preseason routine. I'll have to check the records, but I don't think they've ever won a preseason game under Roos.

So if Port beat Sydney in the NAB Opener we'll play Sydney at Princes Park in week 2 on the Saturday.

If Sydney beat Port we'll most likely play Port at AAMI on the Saturday.

That's correct. If Port lose today, we're the unlucky club that gets to go visit them next week.

If Sydney loses, we play at Visy Park.

Received an e-mail from the Casey Scorpions today, sent to Scorpions members/sponsors, advising that there will be a pre-match function at Casey Fields prior to the NAB Challenge match on 14 March.

The teams are Melbourne FC v Western Bulldogs.

The match starts at 2:00pm.

Cost of match entry is $10 – MFC members’ entry is free.

The function (2 course meal, and beer, wine & soft drinks) runs from 12:00 to 2:00pm, at a cost of $40.

For bookings for the pre-match function contact Sally at [email protected] or on 5996 1111.

Hope to see lots of supporters at both the match and the pre-match function.

Beauty! We didn't make the finals at tennis, so I will be there. I will take my own seat and sit on the outer wing as per normal.

I'm sure I saw a topic asking for info about accessing Casey Fields by public transport from Cranbourne Station, but when I came back it was gone.

Anyway, here's the drill in case anyone else needs to know:

There's a bus service (TrainLink - Route 896) which meets every train at the Cranbourne Station from 5am to 1am and goes to within 700m of Casey Fields (there is a stop at the Casey Indoor Leisure Complex). The bus stop is next to where the new $37 million Casey RACE (pool & gym complex) is being built.

The bus leaves about 2 minutes after the train gets in, so don't take too long to get to bus stop.

The bus takes about 10 minutes to get to the Casey Indoor Leisure Complex, and then you'd have a 10 minute walk to the ground.

There's a single rail line that runs from Cranbourne Station right past the ground. It seems to me that this line should be duplicated and a station placed at Casey Fields. A project like this and the extension of the ground is exactly what the federal and state governments should be promoting in tough economic times. Go to it MFC - put together a proposal. The Bullies and the Toiges have done it and reaped big money for Whitten and Punt Road Ovals respectively.

Yeah, this has been discussed a fair bit on these boards (particularly when there was a discussion about Casey as a boutique stadium).

This match has huge competitive interest for me

We have the Dees on a mission to show some short sighted, ill informed folks of USA/Mexican origin that mission hitched their crusty tortilla wagon to the wrong horse, or mongrel dog, as it is in this case

We also have the former 324 game bulldogs star midfielder and seven times club best and fairest winner who, after being ingloriously sacked at seasons end last year by the very club he devoted his entire career to, is now our midfield coach and is certainly looking forward to working with what is a young and developing playing list

The Demons will also be looking to strut their stuff in front of a home crowd at their summer training base and home of their soon to be announced, and very much anticipated, VFL alignment team

Mark my words, there will be plenty to prove this week out at Casey Fields

Definitely a game not to be missed and a win is not mission impossible by any stretch of the imagination, no matter what those corn flour totin' folks from the good 'ol US of A think about our team and its prospects

Prediction; the Demons will wrap the doggies up tighter than a burrito full of refried beans

See you there for the Tortilla Cup!!!
