Robert Warnock

Obviously everyone realizes that Godemons has simply made this story up completely. If it were true he would have provided a source. there is no source.

But Godemons is obviously trying to make a point, and it possibly is a valid one. Warnock's value is being increased through a bidding war between MFC, Blues and Richmond. This all for a guy who's played 16 career games and not dominated in even 1 senior game. Should we really be paying 300k for that?

Is it possible we are getting dooped for a developing ruckman who hasn't made it yet---- Meesan anybody?

If we get Warnock imo it would be a great get. However i would only take him for free in the PSD or with a 3rd round pick (to save the PSD pick for something else.) I would also not like to give him a huge pay packet either.

MFC were never the only bidder for Warnock. Richmond were always interested. I am not sure why Carlton would chase Warnock hard as they have Kreuzer and Hampson. If Warnock wants to be No1 at a Club then Carlton is not the fit. Did anyone mention salary cap?? Warnocks value has not increased its already there. There has been a falsehood that amongst posters that we are in the box seat with Warnock. We are not until he agrees to terms with us

If you had seen any of his 16 games you would realise he is capable tall big man that could provide with us with a useful first ruck for years to come. I am not sure why you would expect a player especially a tall player to be dominating in a game.

White and Yze were on together $1million a year (and I cringe at that) this year. I cant believe that Yze is getting more than $350k or $400k a year. White is getting the balance. Warnock would be great value at $300,000 a year.

It doesn't make any sense to me either why Carlton would go after Warnock. Maybe they don't see Cloke & Hampson in the same light as Warnock. Who knows? Perhaps they see Kreuzer as the one to help out down forward with Fevola. Whilst Warnock can take the hit outs in the Centre for the majority. Much like the Fraser setup at Collingwood.

Can't believe what Yze is believed to be on. Unbelievable.

Still, i hope Warnock decides to play alongside his brother at the Dees. To be a part of the new era.

This is straying from the topic a bit but I would have thought that Jamar would be excellent trading value but I haven't noticed his name mentioned anywhere.

For a good reason...he has little trade value and is not an AFL standard ruckman.

Can't believe what Yze is believed to be on. Unbelievable.

Dont get me started. We should never have given him a 3 year contract in the first place. Absolute waste of money.

I estimate Yze was on 300k to 350k a year. That means White has been pulling 650k to 700k a year. Aargh. :o

Simply terrible list management.

$650K-700K for White, sh!te! That's even more mind boggling.

As you've alluded to, $300K per year for Warnock is a good investment.

Connolly has said that around $1 millions would be saved with the departure of W & Y. Whichever way you cut it.....good grief. <_<

RR, is it possible to save 1mil after these two players have left?

As i make it, we have to spend at least 92.5% of $7.69million, equalling around $7.11mil.

So at best, unless i've missed something, the max we can save in terms of TPP is about $580,000

Theres a very good chance both Y and W were on back ended contracts..as we wernt to flash currency wise a few years back. I mean ..we arent now..but worse then. Amounts may not reflect true seasonal worth..just this years payments.

of course..could be entirely wrong !!

Next year the AFL is allowing MFC to pay less than the required minimum, around 2% less than all other clubs from memory.

Also need to take into account that Yze (and possibly White?) was on the veterans list so 50% of his wage wasn't included in the cap however it will still be a saving for MFC.

Still isnt that clear though as your figures are based on 100% of the cap which we definitely wouldnt be paying, bit baffled by it myself.

Just read on 'ology that Warnock has informed Freo he'll be leaving. Apparently reported on Perth radio.

The ball is now rolling. Hopefully he has a statement soon saying which club he'd prefer to come to.

edit: Good work Demonland in merging.... :)

edit:....Warnock has stated his management will work proactively with Freo, to work out the best possible outcome for Fremantle.

Thanks (although generally we've been opposed to mergers  ).

There's a resport on Dockerland which suggests that Warnock "would prefer a trade to Carlton, although he has family playing for Melbourne." - http://www.dockerland.com/latest/warnockin...ltons-door.html

Money talks all languages and no doubt the Visy people need an ambassador for some other cause in addition to the green agenda being represented by a certain bald headed midfielder. Who knows, they might still be able to fit Kerr and Cousins in as well.

Money talks.

We may just experience a bit of Deja-vu this year with Carlton. I have been told similar info to last year - via the same "ear" on the table at Carlton - with respect to R.Warnock - "Whatever it takes".

Steven Icke is turning everything upside down at present to get Robbie to Carlton.

Whilst it's certainly a case of "nothing's a done deal until it's done", the mfc IMO face an uphill battle to get him to the Dees, thanks to Pratt and Carlton.

So........my word of advice is - "Don't get your hopes up"

Thanks (although generally we've been opposed to mergers  ).

Hmmm. Indeed. Can we ask the stewards to swab Carlton. This is not a level playing field it seems...

I hope this is not a deja vu year.

Last Year: -

Storm Premiers and Minor Premiership

Geelong Premiers & Minor Premiership

Gary Ablett Jnr - MVP

Jimmy Bartel - Brownlow

Chris Judd - VISY

This Year so far: -

Storm Minor Premiership, Premiers?

Geelong Minor Premiership, Premiers?

Gary Ablett - MVP

Jimmy Bartel - Brownlow?

Robbie Warnock - VISY?

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
