  1. The show was Ok. Jack is a very good speaker for a fella his age. He handles himself with aplomb and as some people are suggesting, he oozes leadership material. And for a bottom age player! He didn't talk about much more than has already been reported in the media already. Two interesting things were the fact that Jack got touched up in a game by a girl in the juniors and came off the ground crying. Touched up in a football sense that is.............The other interesting thing was Ricky Nixon talking about Cousins. I am not a fan of Nixon, but some of the things he mentioned about the Lions and St Kilda were pretty spot on. Why Brisbane needed to state they will not take Cousins a second time in the week after previously making a one and only statement had him pretty bemused. Seems many clubs talked to Nixon about the way it has been handled and that there should be a better way to do things. They are all sympathetic to Ben and want to see him play, but they wont take him. Funny that. He is a player manager though......
  2. This is the same man who looked like a rabbit in the headlights on 'The Couch'. Who couldn't state what Fremantle stood for, and who tried to deflect blame for the mature aged players Freo took in recent drafts on Chris Connolly, who had well and truly moved on before Mark Johnson was drafted. His hard line and thought processes worked wonderfully well in the trade period. Where is that first round pick for warnock again??.........."Josh Carr is a leader of our football club, we need compensation" Ha, ha, ha freo screwed again. Harvey is possibly the most competent assistant coach of the last ten years, and the most incompetent senior coach for the same period. This guy tries everything to deflect responsibility and attention from himself and his club, who don't have a terrific track record come draft time, and indeed the trade period.
  3. Please Draft Shane Birss. This could be amusing. Isn't Briss something else.......
  4. Well I was sure I saw Matthew Bate at the Gym this morning. Funny thing is I live in Perth. Go Figure. If it wasn't Bate it was his evil Twin. How bad is R.Warnocks injury that he had operated on? Because I saw a massive string bean at the gym also that kept catching my eye for some reason.

  6. Link to Colin Sylvia article. Interesting read. I am a fan of what he could be, not what he is so far. He sounds like he has a better attitude than many critics suggest. Next few years will prove to us what he really is. 22 is young. He has some mongrel in him, and I like that. Nothing worse than a willing mind and a failing body, I know. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/tabid/7415/D...px?newsid=65392
  7. Redandblue you are a flogger. As usual your posts are ill thought and stupid. He is the only person who deserves a farewell match on our list. If you were ever at games you may understand exactly how highly thought of he is, and how much he has done for the club. Soft and pathetic describes you're nether regions.
  8. He is playing poorly, but he has so few oppurtunities to play himself into form as there is such poor delivery to him. I'd suggest that we just need to cool off a little and judge him in games when we are playing well. The only way i'd ever see him playing at Sandringham is if he was coming back from injury. I can't see the bloke retiring when we are at the lowest point, what example does that set the young blokes. He'll keep fighting on, and he has earned that right.
  9. That's a foolish title for a post Occo, and foolish comments that follow it. He is one of the most selfless players the club has had, and if he was such a selfish captain he would have accepted the post immediately rather than taking the whole pre-season discussing it and doing what is best for the club. Selfless is kicking to robbo in the goal square when you are getting bagged out for not kicking enough goals. Stupid comment and you should be bagged out for it, you rodent.
  10. Club needs supporters at the moment, it's pretty simple. Support financially, buy a country membership even and give up buying 2 or 3 cartons of beer, chuck in the ciggies or go without buying the penthouse black label subscription and put the funds into the MFC. If we don't get supporters rather than fairweather frontrunning barrackers, our team may not be around to enjoy the good times. We have a lot of passionate supporters, but we need more. I travelled from Tasmania to watch yesterdays game, stayed the whole game and left disappointed. But I'll be planted on the couch next week to watch the game against the Dogs, ever optimistic. We sucked yesterday, but it really can't get any worse. This will most likely be the only game I can get to this year. I have a country membership and never hesitate renewing since I joined five years ago. Many people out there would earn more than me. Surely people can give up a few luxuries to get behind the team. Hell if I pushed it I could probably get a full membership. I bet the players feel a lot worse than we do, some may think the $$$ softens the blow, but I bet they feel humiliated after yesterday. And they should.
  11. I agree with the lottery idea, but with the eight teams out of the finals being in the pool. Lets say a team is 12th, and finishing 13th gets them into the lottery. 12th and 13th play each other in the last round to get into the lottery and a chance at the #1 pick. A problem still, although much smaller. If 8th and 9th play each other in the last round, and a place in the finals is available vs a place in the lottery, then the incentive to be in finals surely wins out. Just my thoughts. The lower you finish in the bottom 8, the more balls you get in the lottery!

  13. In breaking news, Melbourne forward scout David Dunbar has been ejected from hawthorn training for a fourth time. This time he was disguised as a biker, complete with leather hat and handlebar moustache. Word has it that an Indian costume was found in the trunk of his car.
