Agreed. Over 4 quarters it was no better than an average game.

That's the problem with watching afl.com live overseas. You see him getting 25 odd touches and 3 goals and you think 'WOW that must have been an impressive performance!

But still, he's kicked a bag of 3 goals twice- which Cotchin, Palmer and Masten haven't achieved.

Cotchin, Palmer and Masten all generally play as midfielders.

Morton is a floating flanker in fairness to the other players.

He played well today though. Got a great engine, just needs to be more decisive and not worry himself so much.

Seems like he'll be one of these blokes.. Got talent..comes straight in.. get a bit wobbly and never quite finds his rythym. Then has a solid preseason.. fills out a bit and comes back "in tune"..and is a gem :)

Theres more than a little something abou thim :)

Agree. His disposal needs some serious work, but the kid knows where to put himself. He is quite capable of racking up the possies. Puts himself in the right position most of the time. disposal needs work, but hey, he's got time.

As for Daniel Bell

He should surely get it this week. He played well and he actually hit a few targets by the end of the game. He will be a very good player once he finds some more confidence. He is suppose to be a good kick hopefully it's only a confidence thing that he is missing so many targets. One good thing about him is he can definately find a fair bit of the footy.

What now?

He did a good job on McPhee, and from memory had one really poor kick. Layed some fantastic tackles too.

What is the deal with people hating Daniel Bell all of a sudden?

I didn't think he was too bad either, in fact I thought he did a pretty reasonable job.

But I guess there always has to be one and its his turn

As for Morton, definitely one of his best performances today, and it was great to see him work his way into the match after a wobbly start.

Hopefully he gets rewarded with the Rising Star nom this week, but if not it is still great and very encouraging to watch him play

(despite the obvious work that is needed on his build and disposal)

As Bub said, there is absolutely something about him.......

Cale is one of the positives of the year, i have no doubt he will be a star for us for years to come.

Also like Buckley, love the way he takes them on with run and carry. The way he moves reminds me of Gerrard Healy.

That tackle in the first or second quarter was awesome.. you don't see Belly doing that too often but he did it perfectly and was rewarded.. thank god. Saw a bit of grunt in him that I don't think I've really seen before so I'm not sure if he's been warned after some average performances, but I thought he played quite well today.

As for Morton, I still get scared he's going to break when he gets crunched in a tackle.

But his last quarter today and his first quarter against Freo in particular have got me verrrrry excited about him.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
