What does everyone think about the trade of Woey?

He was a classy player, even if he was an outside ballwiner.

Blue-collar class footballer. Very Handy, good work ethic. Was there the day he got goal of the year against Port Adelaide. That was a turning point for him.

I prefer here over Demonology just to escape the fool whose name I dare not speak and his incessant ranting about Jolly etc.

For the record, Jolly was dropped in round 22 of season 2004 on form. Jamar who took Jolly's place was retained for the Essendon EF the following week. We ended the season with Jolly as our third ranked ruckman at that point in time.

Rather than fight for his place in the side Jolly wanted out. I bet Port Adelaide are glad that Brogan is made of sterner stuff. If we traded him there and then we could get something for him (Dunn as it turned out). If we held him to his contract he would have left 12 months later and we would have got nothing for him.

Even with the benefit of hindsight and given that Jolly stood as our number 3 ruckman at the time what should have the Club done? Unloaded the AA ruckman White because one day they would change the rules, his spring would go and time would catch up with him before it would the 4 year younger Jolly? And what would the Club tell Jamar who had passed Jolly in the eyes of the Match Committee and who was 2 years younger than Jolly?

If you think the Club should reward form and if you are critical of past examples of favouritism then what should they have told Jolly or done with him at season end that would have resulted in his staying?

Jolly is a one-dimensional sook and he has not done a single thing to make me regret seeing him off.

This has been bashed around enough and its a tired topic. Do a search on this site under Woewodin's name. If you want to see the cut and thrust its all there.

And its obvious you should not dare speak of his name and his incessant ranting, because now and again 'freedom of speech' is frowned upon in forums such as these..

MFC were on top of the ladder in Rd 18 2004.

God, I remember that Sunday night. We were on top of the ladder and I was playing soccer in the back yard thinking, for the first time (I'm only 19) "[censored], we could actually win a Premiership." Fast forward to our 5-point loss against Essendon in the Elimination Final just a month later and my emotions could not have been further apart. After that loss, I just felt sick to my stomach until at least a week after the Grand Final.

To me, that year was a million times more disappointing than our loss to the Dons in 2000 because, let's face it, nobody but the Blues were ever a chance of knocking them off that year.

As some Essendon player once put it, "Footy sucks sometimes."

I think you and I are in the minority, buddy.

Yeah I remember it too. We'd just beaten the Hawks, taken top spot on the ladder and were I guess considered genuine premiership material. I don't think we won again until Round 4 the next year.

I miss being good...

Actually, you've got it the wrong way around. Nobody here frowns upon the mention of Rono and our freedom of speech is well protected around here. It's when you have the idiots and their egos dominating the threads and abusing others that our freedom of speech is damaged the most. If people observe the rules i.e. the very reasonable code of conduct we all agree to adhere to when we sign up, there's no problem.

Thompson showed signs, much like the Sylvia of today but never did anything to make us think he was going to be A+ player.

Us?

IMHO he was so far beyond what Sylvia's shown so far it's not funny, and I imagine the majority would agree.

BINGO! Agree.

Even then i think you're giving Sylvia a bit too much credit. Thompson was making great inroads to being the demons no 1 midfielder.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
