Quite simple really.

If we lose next week, considering we also have to play West Coast at the 'G, we might as well kiss goodbye a top 2 pick and a priority pick.

Do you want that, or a winning culture?

Do you or do you not want to win next week?

Will not be voting in this poll.....

I think it's pretty straightforward. Yet again if we win there's no doubt we'll all love it, but looking at it objectively its probably not the best thing for us. West Coast are clearly better tankers than we'll ever be, so they'll probably beat us to the spoon, but I would still prefer to have a top 2 pick. I don't believe its cut and dried that the WA clubs will take the two WA boys.

No. It will be a good game though.

Of course I want to win. I have no doubt we will finish in the bottom 3.

'Every heart beats true for the red and the blue' - Who doesnt want to hear this?

No - What did we think of Carlton when they tank? Don't want to be labeled like them.

No

Yes, i do want to hear the team song, but for the sake of the future, i dont want to win, but at least to be competetive

I've got a feeling we may win a few before the end of the season. We had many clangers today & if they had gone our way, the bullfrogs would've been in trouble.

We don't seem to play well interstate therefore, the shockers will win next week. But what about the kangaroos, Essendon & West Coast ALL at the MCG?

Could we win 3 more?

It's going to be irrelevant whether we beat them or not, both teams are going to finish bottom three and I get the feelign we're got our eyes on different players in the draft. The only thing that may matter is who gets the earlier pick in the psd.

I hope we demolish them

[[No brainer. Yes.]

[Winning and a winning culture are everything.]

Winning one or two meaningless home an away games between now and the end of the year to bring our tally to a pitiful total of 3 or 4 wins doesnt create a winning culture.

It is essential we make the most of this years draft and from next year onwards we can look to use these young guns to develop this winning culture you speak of.

Think logically about this.

Couldn't agree more, Mono.

Personally, the embaressment of winning the wooden spoon, and the damage it would do our culture and our public perception far outweighs whether we finish 16, 15, or 14. To be honest, I wouldn't mind that decision being made for us. It's looking like a three horse race anyway.

No brainer. Yes.

Winning and a winning culture are everything.

Totally agree!

I can see why ppl dont want to, but ive said before, its just not in me 2 want us to lose, plus its the type of draft were 3rd alst is just as good for us, of course no1 is better, due to absolute freedom of choice, but I think were destined for 15th, which is Watts, eagles wont take him, freo may, but not likely, not with the huge amount of home grown talent up there, its smart to take a WA kid for them!!

Ditto, we should take the victorian!

We can afford to win 2 of the last 7 games and still get the Priority Pick.

I want to smash the Bombers for sure, but I dont care who the other win comes against.

I do want the PP though.

Why would we not want to win? I am happy with a top 3 pick, so winning one more game (two if WC tank it) is fine by me.

Beat the Dockers, I do not want another wooden spoon to go on the record books.

Quite is as simple as Yes or No................just pick Yes........or..........No!

You fence sitter

YES

I always want to win, no matter what the outcomes my desire to see us win is always going to outweigh anything. In saying that, it would be my preferance for us to not win more than 4 games so we can get an extra pick in the top 20. This year those picks are like gold.

In the end, picks 1-3 are all potential stars so it doesn't matter where we end up. I don't want the wooden spoon!

I've got a feeling we may win a few before the end of the season. We had many clangers today & if they had gone our way, the bullfrogs would've been in trouble.

It's not like WB were playing well - they had plenty of errors, too.

The game should have been done and dusted at quarter time.

Yes.. I want a F**kin win!! I don't want the wooden spoon, I want us to finish 14th or 15th and escape the ignomy of the spoon.

And most of all I can't stand losing to the Shockers, ever since Modra kicked 10 against us at the 'G in 99, every loss to the them has hurt that little bit extra.

It's time to win back a bit of respect !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We slammed Carltank last year for it and WCE will forever be known as the greatest cheats of all time for their performance enhanced efforts of the past few years and now their obvious club decision to lose at all costs.

Neither club has any credibility whatsoever and are the scum of the competition.

There is no guarantee that any of Naitanui, Watts or Rich would become a Judd. Indeed what is the use of having a Judd if the club is scum. It will be interesting to see if Judd can get Carltank a premiership. I don't think he can. Too many selfish cretins like Fevola, Stevens etc.

DB is 'list managing' our team beautifully to get the most game time into as many legs as possible so proper list decisions can be made in due course.

I have no doubt about Brad Millers quote in The Age last friday when he said "We're still trying to win a game. We've been trying to win a game all year. On-field it doesn't change anything we are trying to do".

Winning culture is the answer. You can't buy that! Tank? No thank you!

We need to win. what would coming last do for the image of the club?? wold there be any chance of being near the record membership again if we get the wooden spoon? Either way, getting any of Naitanui, Rich or Watts would be awesome; they are all quality players.

p.s. what ever happened to the team being more important than one person??? people are acting as though Naitanui is bigger than our whole club.

Wow i can see it now. Lucky we didn't finish 16th. As the 15th best team, we will have an easier job of selling our club and getting people on board.

Serious how can anyone talk about this winning culture when we are 2-13 for the year. Put in the kids and encourage them to win. If they get up, great. If they don't, bad luck.

Winning at all cost when you are 2-13 is not putting the team first.

Quick question. Does the 1997 spoon still weigh heavy or would people not give a toss about it?

We slammed Carlton because we didn't have the minerals to suck it up and lose the tank game, and we needed to vindicate ourselves. In essence, that cost us Pick No. 2 last year (Trent Cotchin), but probably more crucially, it has cost us a priority pick before the first round THIS year. We could have had Pick #1 and #2 or #3. But stupidity prevailed and we won a meaningless game. I hope all you 'winning culture' chumps got your jollies from that win against Carlton, because it really has hurt us.

Gumnuts talk about just being happy with a top 3 pick - reality check; we could, and should have had two top 3 picks this year. Whats more, we needn't have won the spoon to get them.

OK we win we move to third last we lose and stay last. We still have 6 games after this one and 5 against bottom 8 teams. We will finish bottom three regardless to have 3 picks in the top 20 would be good but winning is great. How good did it feel when we beat Brisbane and Freo? We will know what Bailey is thinking if he brings in Yze, White, Carroll and Holland he is tanking.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
