I was at the game and he was burnt off on the lead a couple of times but was caught ball watching far too often to be playing on the best forward. Just way too loose. Should have been dragged late in the first for a rocket up the jacksie. I was sitting with a bunch of supporters from lots of different teams and everyone cringed ever time the ball came in. Barry should have kicked 5 in the first alone.

I thought Garland was always the better match up. Warnock losses his player too often playing up the ground like against Richo and the time Hall and Warnock were in a contest and then Warnock looked back to see what was behind him to give Hall the easiest of marks, he should have been at full back on O'Loughlin.

Still chances are he'll probably be one of a few to calm the great JB and/or Bradshaw. Going to a busy day down that end of the paddock me thinks.

Yeah! It's great to get S,mart-in  ...

I want Nathan Carroll back in the side.

I think he is unfairly done by and is one of our better players.

If the new-guard back line helps him I think he will be seen to have 'come good".I hope so.

He is a bread and butter backman and gets on the park far more often than Rivers.

valenti will play because he flew to sydney last week and was an emergancy. they did that with jace bode a couple of weeks ago.

jeez..straight into the 18...no bench apprenticeship !! :o

He's 21 so has been in the system for a few years.

Never really a fan of starting guys on the bench in their first game, better to let em get in, cop a knock and loosen up a bit. (imo)

Ditto Whelan, albeit he didn't fly to TD afaik.

"The 21 year-old was selected with the Club's first round selection in the 2007 Pre-Season draft"

In other words, he's a first year player.

Shouldn't you be discussing Winderlich's operation on Bomberblitz ?

It's amazing how supporters see things differently. I hope Carroll never plays for Melbourne again.

Agreed. In fact as bad as Frawley was last week, I'd rather see him out there than Carroll. I don't really see the logic in Carroll being named in the squad. And I hope we get the final team before tomorrow night's game, because if Carroll's playing, I'm loading up on Bradshaw to be the round's highest goalkicker.

Bzzt. That's not the bit you got wrong. Try again.

I somewhat agree with you. At 27, I think he will be used by Melbourne in a serious trade for another draft pick. He is a ready made backman. Ideal for a Fremantle (W.A.).

We may get a 2nd round draft pick for him. With Garland and Warnock showing great signs down back and much younger and with Rivers, Bell. Our defence stocks are ok, with other young ones being developed.

Bails has told Predergast get me kids, kids and more kids. Youth is the way to go. Better to get something now at 27. Get another good kid into the system.

MFC wont be trading to fill holes, they will be trading for more poicks to replenish and turn over the list again, like last year.

Carroll can't get a gig in the 16th side, and he is a disruptive bogan off the field that can't help but get himself in trouble. His trade value is naught.

Whilst I don't think he has huge trade value, I still think there are teams who could use his talents.

Go STEF!!

Great news, so happy he's getting a run. Very exciting to see so many younger players being blooded.

Go Dees!!

Absolutely spot on Nasher. Particularly out West where the WA clubs are well versed in what Carroll is like and chose not to recruit him years ago.

He also has a poor reference profile amongst many of the Melbourne based AFL clubs.

His name was placed on the trade table by CAC last year and other Clubs sniggered.

If he is released by MFC at year end (I think his contract is up), he could try the PSD. But he should not have his hopes high.

But on a better front, I hope Stef Martin really makes the most of his opportunities.

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. Jefferson and Kentfield looked big and strong.  Petty was doing all the training. Adams looked like he was in rehab.  KE

2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
