The Morton Brothers

Recommended Posts

I've been hearing over and over that he's the best of the three... He's in his first season, and if you look at the size of the two brothers, you would back him in to get that big in the next couple of years...

I'm confident.

i hope he's not a dud, if he is we would of really wasted a pick

No, it's we would 'have' really wasted a pick, not would 'of' really wasted a pick. Be comforted by the fact that this is the most common error on forums. That said, I wouldn't take too much comfort in the failings of others.

Btw, I think you've missed the point of the thread. Cale is 18 and the youngest of the Mortons and considered to be the best, as evidenced by his draft pick, although Mitch was highly touted and taken as a F/S. He needs to develop his body over summer. The good news is, unless there's a rogue gene, his brothers have shown what sort of physique we can expect in a year, or two from young Cale.

cale is currently listed as 192cm and 79kgs. 11 games this year, 16 disposals per game (9 kicks 7 hbs). 18 yrs 5 months old.

jarryd (hawthorn) is 191cm and 84 kgs. 5 games this years, 22 disposals per game (9 kicks and 13 hbs). 19 years 8 months.

mitch is 185cm and 79kgs. 8 games this year (20 careers), 12 disposals, (8 kicks 4 hbs), averaging 2 goals per game. 21 yrs 4 months.

some numbers to compare...

He's no dud. He looks a very, very exciting prospect. He'll fill out but he's not going to be massive - think James Hird size. By the way although I'm not comparing them I like using them in the same sentence. Gives me a warm feeling to think that just maybe, There I go, getting ahead of myself!!

Who knows if cale will be a dud or not. Noone can really say yet. The good thing is he knows how to get the ball. He gets it a lot and although his disposal is off, thats understandable and will take time. I would much prefer his skills were off and he knew how to get the ball as this takes a lot less time to teach and train for.

any diea why cale wasnt taken as a F/S as well? or even jarryd? because all three boys seem pretty well rated.

was it a change in the F/S draft rules re the wafl teams?

Yes, the AFL changed the qualifying criteria after Mitch was drafted.

Who give a [censored]? Besides yourself?

I don't know. Do a poll.

I had to pull up my seven year boy old today on the very same subject. I think he'll thank me in years to come. Many people in society judge you on such matters, Weapon. There are basically two ways to go. You either care and make concerted efforts to improve one's deficiencies, or you take the 'care factor' approach. Always remember though, one way is correct and the other is incorrect. If you care so little about being incorrect in your grammar one can only assume that you don't value your own point of view.

If you have no concerns about appearing less educated than some then I'm sure that others who share your view would say "all credit to you".

Well done.

It's very likely, McLeanforBrownlow is not your 7 year old son.

Correcting someone's grammar makes you sound pompous, petty and without substance. Many people in society judge people on such matters. Be comforted by the fact that most recognise this flaw and will treat you accordingly.

Judge away, Sunshine.

Bad grammar is annoying

It is more annoying than mis-spelling a personal pronoun.

Hannibal or Hannabal? Pot or kettle? I dont mind.

I do prefer a compelling and knowledgable argument and if I have to suffer a certain arrogance, it is worth it.

The correct way to spell the male name is Hannibal.

The correct way to spell my female dog's name is 'Hanna'bal. If you now suggest that I'm your [censored], I'll not argue.

Hannabal your just an f-ing [censored]! seriously mate, we dont need to take a poll, no one cares about that crap....you sound like that annoying school teacher who corrects your on tiny little incorrect pronunciation and forgets that its what your saying that is most important, not the order the words come out. I bet your a teacher of some form! And you crap on about improving ones deficiencies and care factor approach and one way is correct and not the other. You clearly dont live in the real world.....everyone goes about things in their own way. The only people that worry about appearing educated are those that are insecure and feel they need to convince people their smart in stupid ways such as correcting someones grammar on a football forum!

Folks.

Let's keep the discussion civil and please no personal attacks on each other.

Hannabal, please note that if you have a point to make about a subject, your argument would be far more credible if you addressed the point rather than attacking the poster whose views might differ from yours. There's no place here for ad hominem insults.

The same goes for everyone else.

Thank you and cheers.

Andy

Fair dinkum there are some grumpy people around here with far too much time on their hands.

Anyway, what was this thread about ? Oh, the Morton bro`s! Very impressed with both of Cale`s bros`s(Apologies in advance for the grammar). Didnt see the Tiges game y`day but that is a pretty impresive effort. saw the Hawks and I thought Morton was excellent. I can`t believe anyone would think an 18 yr old is a dud after 2 or 3 ordinary games. Cale is a gun, simple as that. He will fill out , get more than 10 bloody games under his belt and be a legend of the Melbourne Footy Club.

i dont think cale will be a monster but he will continue to fill out comfortably...

he put on 5 kilos of muscle mass just over the pre season and if you look at him now, compared to last year, he is quite a bit bigger

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had
