Clint Bartram

Recommended Posts

I was interested to see that Bartram is the voic eof the football club again with respect to reports from the game. I wonder if this is a development strategy for the young bloke. He may be targeted for a leadership role within the next few years and possibly captain. I can't believe he is only 20 and playing his 3rd year of football (one lost to injury). I will keep my eye on him in future and his media work.

Also good ot see him push forward and kick a couple of goals. If he is doing this for a few parmas (to quote the official club's website) imagine what he would do for a buffet dinner at smorgys.

It wa salso good to read that Jimmy has Bartram's full support. I am sure Jimmy can sleep better now :P

Absolutely Freak...

He's a good player, but won't be a potential leader unless he does a Ling and emerges from the tagger-role to damage opponents and take a place in the woder footy community. Leadership group role is a possibility though.

while he's only young one thing you need from your captain is consistancy... clint does go missing a lot, and his disposal can let him down... i'm sure he will improve in this area, but other players at his age are much more consistant than he is...

I think he is overrated if anything, especially in his first season.

Not a bad player, but nothing overly special.

I tend to agree, but it says more about the fans than it says about the player. We should wait for him to play good consistent footy before heaping excessive expectations upon his shoulders.

In his first year he started as he has played this year; tries hard, runs and tackles all day but skill let him down. Then he got on a bit of a role towards the end of the year, ran "the lines" (whatever they are) and started to look better by foot. I am hoping for a similar return of his kicking confidence after sunday's game.

As for leadership potential, leadership group in 2 years, but will have to show a bit more skill to knock Brock from that post. Maybe VC?

They didn't give him Garry Lyon's number for nothing.

It's just good to see Clint on the park things were looking pretty hazy there last year.

Hopefully not for the same reason why Rod Keogh got number 31.

I know Chris Connolly is happy where he's at this year in terms of recovering from his year off. He's working hard with his disposal. I was a bit worried when he had those two shots at goal in the first qtr on Sunday. As they say in horseracing parlances - he'll be better for the run this year.

Really good young player - loved his first goal on Sunday where he received the ball off half-back then sprinted 100 metres to the forward line to take a mark on the lead. The man's got ticker.

I wonder how good Bartram would be right now if he hasnt had that terrible injry that cost him 2007.

His rookie season was awesome.

But anyway, he is getting there!

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
