Fwiw, our current member tally is 27,372.

Not bad considering that we set a club record with 28,077 last year (according to wikipedia so I can't vouch for it's accuracy).

in case people are curious, here are the other figures:

pretty amazing that we increased membership from 20,555 to 25,252 on the back of a 14th place finish in '03. It would be nice to see a similar result in 2008!

Maybe we could ask for a type of MCC membership that can combine itself with an MFC membership. Perhaps costing more in itself, or for the same price but relinquishing the amont of games one can attend. On second thought, no that wouldn't work.

I find the MCC issue very hard.

I'm a student, living out of home, pay full MCC and pay for a Concession 11 membership.

I have used my membership precisely zero times this year. Last year i think was the same number.

I cannot stand Telstra Dome and as such hardly attend.

Finding a way to connect the MCC Melbourne supportes and turning them into Melbourne members is important, but not the end of the line.

Maybe there could be an annual option for $30 dollars say, that gives you an MFC-MCC card with our emblem on it and counts you as a member?

You could have both.

For instance, i would still pay full mcc and full mfc, but not the $40 mcc membership because there's no need to.

But i would definitely pay 30 to have an mfc mcc membership card

I am very confused as to what is confusing the confused people.

As an MCC member you can either pay $40.00 to be counted as an MCC / MFC member

OR

If you like you can help the MFC even further by paying $150.00 to be a Premium MCC / MFC member which includes a free young demons membership as well.

Just this Morning Nightmare's father is in the process of upgrading his membership from basic to full...this means a mates little girl will become a MFC young member! One more to the tally! Woo Hoo.

Please don't send us medals... just chest's to pin it on.

Forget the MCC members, we need to generate more general or premium members. We can't live on if only the MCC MFC supporters brought memberships we would have 40,000 members, guess what most don't and more than like wont buy both. We need 30-35,000 members above any MCC $40.00 membership this is great and thanks to the MCC/MFC members who do buy both. Develop our supporter base outside the of the MCC members, we will still get 10,000 MCC members to most games but we need 30,000 other supporter to attend and buy memberships. Only then when we have 40,000 MFC supporters at every game we can get more revenue from our ground deal and other avenues.

Obviously i don't want sole focus on MCC, but it seems a way we can boost our tally.

We have to drive all categories of membership. Obviously the more money the better, but MCC members are a good target to boost our membership. I don't think membership fees are the only bonus of a high membership tally, so the more the merrier.

I totally agree.

Regarding your $30 idea, the $40 MCC/MFC membership already exists (I'm unsure if you were already aware of that), so if you think your card idea is going to drive sign-ups, perhaps it can be incorporated into the existing low-fee MCC/MFC membership.

what i was alarmed at was finding out exactly how many MCC members who actualy barrack for Melbourne and do not contribute to the club with any membership but they may contribute some other way however if you can afford your $600.00 fee correct me if i am wrong but surely another $40.00 or even the 11 game basic $160.00 however on a positive note i have heard that alot of MCC memebers have been joining on game day

I think it's easy to sit here and say 'hey, you're already putting in $500+ for your MCC membership, I can't believe you don't pay an extra $40 for an MCC/MFC associate membership'. However, everyone has to have a limit on spending somewhere, and as you've acknowledged, many of the lapsed members that were contacted cited financial issues as the reason for not renewing.

I'm not saying that people shouldn't sign up, but what I am saying is that it's easy to judge. I agree that it'd be great if more MCC members who supported the Dees signed up, but I'm not going to crucify those who can't/don't.

PS. Rather than a $165 '11 game basic', the step up from the $40 MCC membership is the MFC/MCC premium membership which is ~$150, and also includes a juniour membership (as mentioned above).
