  1. Past hour
  2. With Casey’s season teetering on the brink, the Demons come up against Sandringham at a time when the Zebras’ AFL affiliate has a record low injury list and plenty of talent from which to select their side.
  3. I tend to agree Wrecker, I think it could be possible that we might have tweaked our aggressive all ground squeeze and midfield dominance to a more conservative less taxing game style to maintain our endurance for a full season. If you had noticed we didn't come flying out of the blocks like the last 2 years entering this years opening round. I can see Sydinee hitting a wall soon, they can't maintain that way of playing all year. They have peaked way to early and setting themselves up for teams to take them down in the 2nd half of the year. No 5 day breaks for them though. Can't do that to Sydinee.
  4. Last year they mic’d up Bradshaw during a match (from memory, it was that horrid game against the Giants at Traeger Park). I was so impressed by his on-field leadership. Had no idea just how deep this side of his game went. It’s not recommended viewing right now. Too sad, and agreed, an all too clear indication of a loss that can’t be overstated enough. Very grateful for the fact he’s still a presence at the club, but man do I miss his presence where it’s needed most.
  5. Today
  6. He had a great Grand Final. His time has now passed but that should never diminish the positive legacy he left for MFC which was an important contribution to a first flag in 57 years!
  7. Jake Melksham peak 2018 could absolutely sizzle them 50m low and flat.
  8. There is no one thing contributing to our inconsistent form - There is obviously some instability in our method, but its too simplistic to suggest we could revert back to our past method and our form would/should improve. I think we over analyse footy these days. Helps to pass the time between matches though...
  9. Don't call me champ full stop mate, say anything else but that !!!! Clearly you lack football knowledge.
  10. And deservedly so. It can’t have been easy to go in to bat for Nibs over and over, again and again and again in the face of set-in-their-ways, stubborn folks who refuse to give credit where it’s well n truly due, or rather, overdue. Binman’s a resolute and dogged supporter who knew all along that in Nibbla we have a consistently hard-working, loyal and valuable player. And a bloody nice guy, to boot. Love Nibs to bits. ❤️💙
  11. It certainly does seem to coincide with the time of season. Maybe we should be narm in the preseason only, if at all
  12. What a dogsh*t take. We finished top of the ladder and statistically had the second most dominant finals series this century. We absolutely [censored] in the 2021 premiership. Unlike the dogs, we've finished top four the two years since too and we're genuinely premiership contender. The Dogs missed finals altogether post premiership after a fluke win from seventh. We are nothing like the Dogs. Nothing. Time for you to have a lay down champ!
  13. I don’t think you realise how much he appreciates that.
  14. Reminds me of my first wife, always trying to be right......
  15. @binman walking into this thread after his absolutely staunch defence of ANBs disposal for some time.
  16. 99 problems, and are mids aren't one
  17. @titan_uranus No, I do agree our midfield is down on previous years, at least in terms of looking at them individually. But we lost gus in the eve of the finals. And clarry, whilst performing remarkably well given his interrupted preseasons, is not yet back to his best. And it didn't help losing Bowser in round one, which meant salo had to go back. Nor did it help salo also getting injured. Against that viney has been terrific, ditto tracc and Max. What I have been arguing is that the midfield isn't really a significant issue for us. The forward line is a much better issue. Midfields are simply not as important as they were even two seasons ago. Scores from clearances were something 60-70% of total score when goody took over as coach. It's now only 20-30%, with scores from turnover being the main score source. I mean you only have to look at the game we just played. Seven years ago if we were plus 21 for scores from stoppages we win most games. Not now, particularly when our opponents absolutely smash us on scores from turnover. Yes mids play a role in creating turnovers and scoring from them, but no more than the high half forwards and wingers and less than intercepting defenders and half back flankers.
  18. Don’t disagree that Angus is a massive loss and we are effectively currently two players short on our list. I don’t think the balance of our list is all that great. We have a whole heap of talls that are either finding their feet or banged and gone on a year too long or one that has been sent to play b grade in the ammo’s to get some game time. We haven’t drafted a pure midfielder in quite a while. Who are the pure midfielders at Casey? Casey can’t run out games because they are too too heavy.
  19. What was your point? You tried to say we turned him into something he wasn't and I said he won us a flag... Game, set and match, Binmans PA.
  20. And I will keep saying that it's not grumpiness because you don't like what I say, just remember opinions are like ?, even you are allowed to have one.
  21. Binman was saying on the podcast that the change in game style was to score more from turnover, however the numbers aren’t showing that at all. Have a look at these sobering stats on how we’re fairing in the turnover game this year ‘24 season: Scores from turnover: Ranked 14th Scores from turnover differential: Ranked 13th Last 5 matches: Scores from turnover: Ranked 17th Scores from turnover differential: Ranked 15th Let’s compare it to 2023 Scores from turnover: Ranked 7th (Pies were 6th) Scores from turnover differential: Ranked 3rd (Collingwood was 2nd) The Eagles were a bottom 6 turnover side but they’ve improved over the last 5 matches and are ranked 7th now for differential. I’ve got no idea what the coaches are trying, but our turnover scores and turnover differential (the biggest key indicator of winning the flag) is in the toilet. People on the forum love to say “oh but the Pies lost to the Hawks last year and won the flag”. Yes, they did. But it’s not all about the Win-losses at the moment, it’s about the way we’re playing and we’re playing ****house.
  22. Spargo was brilliant at this for two years and then it seemed to disappear. ANB, Bowey and Windsor of our current players. Salem at his peak, but seems to have lost dare and consistency. I would love one of Eric Gulden, Jordan Dawson or Gryen Myers.
  23. https://theshinboner.com/2024/05/22/the-unique-part-of-james-jordons-role-tag-on-sam-walsh-from-the-notebook-round-10-2024/?amp=1 This might trigger some people but interesting piece here on JJ tagging from half forward. Not something we do to the same degree but we do get a half forward up to stoppage to free up Trac. Ricky’s blog has some good stuff, though as the name will tell you it’s pretty Norf focused
  24. Agree. Though of course every strategy has risk. We were cooked come finals in 2022. I actually think they were in good shape condition wise last year, but were cruelled by injury.
  25. I’ll keep calling this out every time I see it. It’s simply not true. We were the best side throughout 2021. We beat 16 of the other 17 sides, including all finalists. We were top 4 all year. Project your grumpiness elsewhere.
  26. Not a good idea to bring him in when we're under the pump. too much expectation for a young key.
