Holding up the cup at the end of the 2016 season.

What a great game and so nice to see Harmes, Kent and Kennedy feature so well. I particularly like the way that we had a good mix of goal kickers with Hogan only chiming in at the last quarter after a number of missed opportunities. Great to see Watts, Oliver and Garlett dominating a quarter each and so many contributors overall. Considering the fact that we still have Petracca, Brayshaw and Trengove to debut, we may well be in for a good year.

If we cut the skill errors down by 50% from what they have been in the NAB cup we are a huge chance to win 10

Kennedy and Oliver have cemented their spots for Round 1. It turns out Kennedy can kick, already like him more than Howe. We all love Oliver but how good was his handpass to Salem in the last quarter. You can't teach that.

Jason Dunstall is tool. He said that we will in only same number of games as last year.

Piggy is one of the better analysts and I think he has a case; let's not get carried away by the NAB Challenge.  We're improving, no doubt, and we've got plenty of grunt but we still butcher the ball too much and the top teams will make us pay time and again.  Brisbane were undefeated in last years NAB challenge and look how that turned out....

When we win a premiership, we may need a whole new level of service ... :-)

Hopefully it's fixed now.

Another 15 goals and 100+ points. Clear intent to move the ball faster, more corridor-based movement too.

Impressive games from Oliver, Bugg and Kennedy, too.

Dumb skill errors are still a huge issue but the pre-season has at least delivered three wins and clear progress on the attacking front.

Also worth bearing in mind we had no VDB, Brayshaw, Dunn, Lumumba, Trengove, Petracca or Dawes, and 22 vs 24, against a side at full strength which most "pundits" think are certainties to be better than us this year. At Etihad, against an Etihad-based side.

Only a practice match, but a result to be happy with at any rate.

Lots of things to like about the game.

The one thing that stood out again was our fitness.  For three weeks in a row we've run out games really well, and it was even more impressive with the interchange caps in place and an injury early in the game.

Watts was fantastic as the link up man, our small forwards applied huge amounts of pressure and our midfield got on top as the game went on.

Some handy players to return as well means that we couldn't be going on to Round 1 with a better frame of mind.

Ignore the commentators/media, they have been out of the game too long and have their own agendas.

Our team has shown a very impressive improvement in getting/moving the ball - now it is time to capitalise on this improvement and refine the required skills and precision of movement.

Be happy - the Dees are on the climb!

The tough on baller won his second Keith 'Bluey' Truscott Trophy in a narrow battle with skipper Max Gawn and Alex Neal-Bullen and battled on manfully in the face of a number of injury niggles. 2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
