  1. Nice work. Are you a loser or what? Start a thread awith a title that cuts to the essence and core of what we need to build and then offer absolutely nothing. I suggest if you are so full of doubt YOU start shopping for some gonads.
  2. Yikes! Collingwood supporters are thick. You can't ski on rain old boy. Didn't they have an alpine camp at your school?
  3. The trend is fantatstic but we really need to consolidate with securing our future in Melbourne, at the G and add some silver wear to the cupboard before I cut loose with the celebrations.
  4. Since Liam played a few games with Collingwoods' VFL side last year he may be a bit more at ease against them, so this may be a good game to play him in. Alternatively I would like to see Hughes promoted. I little faith in Newton.
  5. Jeff never tore apart a game of footy and didn't last year either. Fact was Bails was ready to move him on and that meant making way for inferior talent to develop. His speech at Olympic Park post last years round 22 game showed he has admirable character. Would have been a good example for you, but you probably weren't there?

    Fevola

No way. Poison to our image and the culture Bails is trying to develop. There is a reason Fev who was expected to be a top 10 pick in the year he was drafted slipped down the order. And clubs have improved their due diligence since.
  7. You would have been over the moon when he did his achilles last year? Not a good day for Robbo but I have the utmost confidence that he, his teammates and the coaching staff will highlight the errors in his game. Personally I thought the games of Petterd and Miller were much worse and of greater concern given they are the 'future' of the club.
  8. Bunch of Monkeys as far as I'm concerned. Good to see the Dorks fans near the players race were more interested in a 1:25,000 shot at $500 than applauding their team off at half time. Looked like they could have used a fluffer after the first half as well.
  9. Tell me about it. As somone who deals with them on a day to day basis I can relate to the delays in getting this deal done. The executive level of Local Government generally work well and know what they are doing, it is the review level (councillors) that are a pain in the rear end. Just ask the people of Brimbank!
  10. I thought the Dogs supporters numbers were good but not THAT good considering it was a "compensation" game for them. Our numbers did not indicate we have a suporter base who will more likely turn up Saturday as I had hoped. Simply put, not enough of us or them. If this had been a Sunday twilight it would have been a disaster. I'm not into boycotts. Ultimately if I can't go to the footy at certain times then I just don't go! An article in The Age (I think) pointed out that the Monday night crowd for the Saints and Collingwood would have been much higher had it not been on a Monday night. This fixturing was a 'failure' IMO but has been largely overlooked because 46,000 is still a good crowd and didn't loose the hosts money.
  11. I opened this thread to vote because I am one of those idiots who sees the value of supporting the club wherever and whenever I can. Not going to see this match for the sole reason it is not at the MCG seems like a particularly weak position. But that's your perogative. Just don't come on here complaining about us getting a shite draw if we play it at the G, draw 15000 and loose 100 large. If we play it at the Docklands and make money at least you wont need to feel as guilty for staying home! <_<
  12. It is a bit of a hard one because you know there will be members who go absolutely troppo over any switch. As long as the club is financially rewarded and reserved seat members are compensated with Level 1 & 2 seating at Etihad I personally don't have an issue.I emphasise rewarded because there is no doubt we will loose money if we play Port at the MCG. The club (board) is obliged to act in the best interests of the club in terms of its viability as priority 1 and anything which improves our finiacials is central to thereto. Other concerns (members reserved seats, emotional attachment to the MCG) must take a back seat at this point in our history. I suggest we strongly make the point that this should be seen as a one off in the context of our present situation and poor AFL scheduling (Sunday games, Port. stadium deals, etc.) take the moral high ground in it is the MFC who are facilitating the greater needs of the game, take the money and run.
  13. I said in an earlier post on this thread that any contract can be challenged and the same goes for elections. It's just that that dodgy process in 96 didn't need to be tested because of Hawthorns result.
  14. I think it says something for MFC and clubs like ours who have been on the ropes that we have been able to survive succesive AFL leaders who have lacked vision right back to Ross Oakley in the late 80's that have threatened, bullied and tried to bribe us out of existence. Even Demetriou can see now that there is enough money in the game (earned across all clubs) to support teams on the GC and in West Sydney which will also loose vast sums of money.
  15. Also, surely any contract would relate only to the current 16 teams. Contracts are hardly ever water tight. I'll look at it if the AFL wants?
  16. Two distinct things from WJ's report sum up Bailey for me, one being his vision to create a winning culture rather than just win. Anyone who has worked in a team environment knows how important it is to have everyone pulling in the same direction. I also appreciate his honesty in virtually admitting that his players can see through the "crap" that I would describe as old school coaching.
  17. Sorry, bit of a hockey reference (not the game girls in skirts play). The captain of a Hockey team has a big 'C' stitched to his guernsey. Maxwell shoulf have a sailors hat.
  18. Struggling. The captain you have between capital 'C' captains.
  19. This thread is full of mixed opinions, some with several angles mixed in a single post. No doubt we do have dills supporting the club who booed 'for the sake of it'. I explained why I booed Bock to my teenage daughter (she didn't incidentally) and afterwards I was quitely happy Neil Craig, Adelaide and every wife or girlfriend beating f*#^head heard it. There is no doubt Craig identifies more readily with Bock than he does the girlfriend. He seemed all over the fact that Geelong players didn't mention Bocks slip up last week, though what relevance this had I don't know. The only thing he got right was his player had to cop it but this seemd to be in the whole context of sympathy. I know Craig lives in a country town but he needs to pull his head out it and understand the issue.
  20. Wow, pure genius. And what if yo're trying to develop a young list and you're in the bottom of a development cycle? Pert will never have to worry about a poor draw so his 'solution' is symplistic and does not resolve the team V crowd debate as it applies to the MFC. The only thing that will resolve Melbournes problems is a revised stadium deal or boutique stadium, especially as GC and West Sydney appear on the scene.
  21. That's a conundrum I have thought about since. Had Sylvia done what he did during the footy season I probably would have gone to the footy without my Demons gear on and booed him as well. I feel that strongly that a message needs to be sent since Adelaide, the AFL and AFLPA were so limp about it, as I said in an earlier post earlier not just to Bock but to everyone watching and listening. I am happy Neil Craig and Adelaide heard it and were upset and the matter has therefore received more publicity. Having had 24 hours to think about I'm tipping Neil Craig wont be quoted about Bock " having to cop it" again, poor Nathan!
  22. I think what we can agree here is that opinions are like ( )*( )holes. If I want to boo, I'll boo. I won't boo him next time because by then he'll have copped his whack from the courts as well. And can this crap about "we have courts to deal with this". He did it, he admitted it, his club suspened him for it. But only till they played Geelong If Bock and anyone else who has thought about doing what he did watched that game last night and was squemish about the booing and therefore has second thoughts about raising a hand, a fist, a glass, then I am even more comfortable with the booing last night.
  23. So did you want a more offensive style of footy? Who was going to kick the goals? The scoreboard showed the forwards we had struggled to get it between the big sticks as it was. If you aren't concerned the club lost a lot of dollars last night then don't worry about the game style. We wont be around long much longer.
  24. Melbournes footy improved in the second half. The crowd didn't. We only lost by three goals which doesn't mean I am happy but really peeved the club has lots money on the night.
  25. And then both miss the eight by half a game. Still its always good to see a knife plunged into the Pies.
