  1. Good to see the Toump having bounces. Allister Lynch, shut up you [censored], you are as bad as Tom Harley.
  2. I shoulda stayed at the pub I think.
  3. For christs sake, just stay on Wells and Harvey.
  4. Tom Hawkins taken his time to arrive as a legitimate gun forward - whilst not great - he is still very good. Hawkins dominated the juniors and obviously taken his time to fit into the AFL, as he has gotten older, he has improved A LOT. I think the older these flat track junior bullies get, the more they improve, Watts was also another dominate forward as a junior. The difference between Watts and Hawkins is body size, Jack has only just got a body capable of even playing forward this year.W Watts will be a gun, he is going to be a very very good player, so hopefully he signs up, the kid has all the tools to make it in the AFL, he has just had to wait till his body has devoleped and with this his confidence has risen:)
  5. Yeah I do agree with you 100%. But, Toumpas did have a limited pre-season, had injuries coming in he was recovering from and has a weak core atm. So, he'll no doubt improve next year after a full pre-season. Still, I do bag the kid a bit myself and understand why others do, as he didn't even get a kick last week, which simply isn't good enough, lets be honest and not make excuses. Like most, I really hope Toumpas can turn it around today, he comes across as an absolute ripping young kid. As far as their draft year goes, I think Wines and O'Meara are standouts and if Toumpas eventually ends up just under those freaks, we'll be stoked.
  6. It's good to watch clubs in strife that aren't the MFC.
  7. I am saying people get caught up in draft postions, which in reality doesn't mean much - it certainly doesn't add anything to the players tool bag, it's just a number. Wines - like Dustin Martin - had better form leading into the draft than their counter parts, Sidebottom is another one, all dual sided, win their own ball players. IMO both Martin, Sidebottom and Wines will be absolute stars and all went later than they should have. When you compare players in the mould of Wines, they succeed more than outside flankers that we seem hell bent on stock piling at our club.
  8. Watts will end up the better player. No doubt at all, Jack Watts is going to be a superstar.
  9. Either way, surprise picks, when people call it facts that Toumpas would go before Wines in the opinion of every recruiter, that is pathetic. It's new ground for Demonland. Anyway, it's a Jimmy Toumpas thread, so i'll leave it alone, might pop back for an update after the Casey game.
  10. Same, I think Jetta is a player. I'd take Jetta over Nahas any day of the week.
  11. It could happen, Andy D appears to want MFC back as a contender. The AFL will be a lot better off if MFC and Richmond are back in the fold as power clubs. It's been a long time, but it would add a lot of excitement, so hopefully we get Walsh, Roos and set ourselves up:)
  12. You can't definitively say that. Considering Ploughman went at 2 and wasn't even touted top 5, how would you know what other clubs are thinking? Probably the most ridiculous thing I've ever read in demonland to be honest. Wines had a better year than Toumpas, FACT. But, I will go back to what I said earlier, it's pointless comparing the two players against each other. I'm a Melbourne fan after all and I'd rather realistic comparisons.
  13. Yeah, the same club he tried to move to Queensland, then Tassie.
  14. Demetriou just does what is best for the AFL, no harm in that. Denies tanking, which helps us... Gives Essendon the heads up, which helps them. He bails out all the big clubs if they are in strife and wants the MFC back as a power, there is no doubt about that. Demetriou cares little for the clubs who shouldn't be in the league, ie: North and Bullies. I think the bloke is a blessing.
  15. Would be a massive coup if we could land Walsh. We were really lucky to even land PJ, so if we could land Walsh on top of that, we'd be blessed. Then Roos, then Kirk or Ling for assistants, would be heaven. Throw in Hogan, Aish, Daisy and a priority pick and it's happy days.
  16. Our song is the only thing going for us atm, by far the best song in the league.
  17. There is no comparison between Wines or Toumpas. People get caught up in draft positions, but Wines was head and shoulders above Toumpas in 2012 under 18's and still is. Nothing changes and players don't miraculously become better because they were picked top 3. We should get away from these comparisons when it comes to Wines Vs Toumpas and just let their results speak for themselves. I agree with one of the above posters about the MFC picking mentally weak kids, I guess we should be grateful that Viney was father son, but he is the opposite type of player that the MFC draft.
  18. Laidley is more like Neeld than any other coach available. So, surely we won't be taking him.
  19. Yeah, he'll fit right in at St Kilda. There is a fair chance we'll pick up at least 1 game on the way home - most likely 2. St Kilda won't pick up any.
  20. I'm glad we have moved on from Roos, it will be interesting what direction we go: Chocco or Eade? I'd like to see Chocco get his chance.
  21. He looked like he was about to burst into tears, certainly an emotional lad is Jim. But, if I ever had a game like that, I'd probably be feeling the same. From an observation point of view though, Toumpas shouldn't be playing AFL, he isn't up to it and needs to go back to Casey for the rest of the year. There is little doubt that the kid has all the tools to make it further down the track in AFL, but at present he is a very long way away from being an AFL player. Hopefully Craig sends him back to Casey and just let's Jimmy play without pressure and continue to improve his football. One thing in my opinion that has worked against Toumpas this year is that he has a very weak core - probably due to his hip injury and limited pre-season. So, next year we should see a much improved player, providing we can get a pre-season into him.
  22. Bit harsh to lump Kent in with Toumpas, at least Kent has a dip.
