  1. I'd take Rich and Hanley in a heartbeat. Hanley is underrated, has had a great year and looks to have a real future. Daniel Rich is going to be a very good player, would fill a massive need for us - big bodied midfielder with a great boot. Brisbane wouldn't offer both. The thing is, most clubs in need of Boyd - only have young talent and talent they wouldn't give up. I'd look to dangle Boyd in front of the big clubs, because they are the clubs under cap pressure and they know the need to get talent in for the future. Hawthorn don't have much in terms of players suited to our rebuild, they've really maxed out to win this next flag, a lot of their players are older. But Sydney have Parker, Adelaide have Sloane, Collingwood have Daisy, Sidebottom, Beams and a lot of youngster, these are the players we should be after. We need a big bodied midfielder to help out Jones and for pick 1, he'd want to be at least Jones equal. Put two quality mids under Jamar with the addition of Clark, Hogan and a fit Dawes in our forward line next year and that is rapid improvement. We have a hell of a backline and need to keep Frawley at all costs.
  2. Well, he was a Dees supporter as a kid, so we can only hope!! Time will tell whether not winning a game will affect the GWS case for Buddy, IMO it will, they haven't won a game and I don't think Buddy will go there. Can't imagine losing to us would help, dare say the damage is already done for them. Buddy isn't Scully and won't just sell his soul for a dollar.
  3. I agree with DF that Pendles is easily worth pick 1, he'd be worth more than that. IMO Sidebottom would easily be worth pick 1, very underrated. Beams would be, but given his injuries this year, would be a big risk. But, I always thought Collingwood could've got away with trading Swan to GWS and then built a side around Pendles and Thomas. Now they'll probably end up losing a young gun instead of Swan. Because their salary cap would be getting very tight, surprised more isn't spoken about Collingwoods ability to retain all these top notch players.
  4. Not Barlow, he is too much of a risk with his knee. Barlow isn't worth pick 1, he is a good player, but for Tom Boyd, clubs should offer up a better deal. I wouldn't be surprised if Collingwood came into player, they are under cap pressure and it would serve them well to offload a star - for a great young kid. They should trade Daisy or Swan.
  5. Carlton are in desperate need of a young developing forward, they really have messed their timing up Carlton. Logically, Cartlon actually need a forward a couple years older than Boyd, they should've got Fev back after his Brissy stint. Bulldogs need Boyd, he is a great fit and timing is perfect for them, it would also take pressure off Grant and Jones to develop into something. Freo will need a forward when Pav retires, but not as bad as other sides, Freo are predominately defensive, plus they have conjured goals this year without Pav. You are right about Brisbane, they will desperately need a forward from next year onwards. What can these sides give up... Carlton: Yarran, Lucas. Brisbane: Polec. Fremantle: They won't give up anyone, it will set their coach back and he didn't go there to develop, they can only give up picks. Bulldogs: Higgins and picks.
  6. All I got out of that was Paul Roos is an Alan Stockdale fan.
  7. Hawthorn is probably the very last club Martin should be thinking of going to, given their past - in regards to drug strikes.
  8. No, I have only seen him play the carnival games. I make my assessments on all the good players based off carnival games or senior football - VFL, SANFL or WAFL games. As far as TAC Cup games go, I only count finals and I try and get to them if I can - otherwise just watch the GF on TV. Players I thought absolutely stood in my time watching carnivals as locks for our club: Martin and Wines. I thought Sidebottom had a good carnival and a hell of a grand final and should've been looked at more closely than he was. Daniel Rich I liked, because he was playing VERY good senior football in the WAFL. Hamish Hartlett oozzed class for SA in the championships and I had Rich or Harlett going 1 or 2, thought it was amateur we chose Watts. But I will admit, I've came to really rate Watts this year and unlike most, I still see a big future for us. I favor kids who win their own ball and go well in senior football - if they have tasted it. I'm still really disappointed we overlooked both Sloane and Rockcliff in their years. Hovrat I liked last year. VFL and WAFL over SANFL... I watched a lot of Lewis Jetta when I lived in WA before he got drafted and he's the best I've seen come through the WAFL in a long time. Clubs were just sleeping on Lewis Jetta and he tore up the WAFL that year and put on a clinic, yet we overlooked him when he was ideal for us - but other sides did to. I think classy players in the SANFL can be made to look better than they are - because it's more of an outside style of football, just my opinion. Players I like this year: Sheed is a standout from what I have seen. Dumont is going to be a VERY good player, I think there is a bit of Hartlett about him. Also like Battesby this year if he slides. I am now completely off James Aish, I think he is too outside and plays soft. Never liked Toumpas and not a lot has changed.
  9. GWS will want to win, time is running out for them to impress Franklin, because as it stands Buddy would be silly to leave Hawthorn. Money isn't everything and if GWS can't beat us this year, then no amount of money would entice Buddy, they'd know this. GWS need to start winning games.
  10. A fair comparison for Tom Mitchell would be Jack Viney next year. I'd expect Jack Viney will be doing what Mitchell is doing now - next year.
  11. Well don't stress, Sheed is too much of a pure footballer to end up in the red and blue. If you don't like him, you might like AIsh, he fits the MFC type.
  12. I'm watching it now, Aish must have a big second half, because he hasn't done a thing so far and it's half time. Very outside, sheep doggishly loose. Overall I am not all that impressed with this match so far, the SANFL has dropped off a bit. That Durmont kid, there is a bit of Hamish Hartlett about him, he is expected to go top 15 - but could drift, certainly a prospect. Nothing I've seen about Aish this year suggests we take him before Sheed... I reckon Sheed would tear that lot in the SANFL a new one. Aish is so outside, he is classy as hell, but stick thin and going to take time, he is far from a lock at 2.
  13. I haven't seen a kid stand out as much in the nationals since Dustin Martin. Dusty done it so easy, but Dom done it on his ear, Sheed just put on a clinic and slotted goals to top it off! By all reports, AIsh has the points on the board and I respect those who have more knowledge than myself, but still, I've watched the nationals for many years. Those who perform on the big stage, like Dusty, Steele and Ollie have for their state - those players have gone on. Midfielders that perform in the national championships should be judged highly, because they nearly always go on to perform. On performance on the biggest stage, Sheed is a deadset stand out.
  14. No wonder the big clubs aren't concerned we are going to get a priority pick, they are too busy getting on the gear!!
  15. I do agree with you, but at the same time I understand where other sides are coming from to a certain extent.
  16. In a way I can see where oppositon fans come from though - in voicing their distain about us receiving more high picks, especially Bullies fans. Consider this, when we got Scully compo, we cashed out there - whilst the Bullies got bugger all for Ward, who looks 3 times the player Scully is. On top of that, we got Viney for an absolute steal. All the cards have fallen our way the past few years in terms of being lucky - or assisted by the AFL with the Scully compo. Now, these sides have to sit back and watch us received the number 1 pick, after we've already had a lot of breaks. So, I see why opposition fans are frustrated. All in all, it probably just highlights our development - or lack thereof.... Because, surely it's development and not recruiting, Trengove did look a legitimate A grade gun when drafted and even in his first year and now he looks like an absolute plodder.
  17. In a heart beat, I'd even straight swap that pick for Shiel alone.
  18. Yeah, I don't think we'll get a pick before the first round, it's likely to be before the second. But... It really is hard to predict. For instance, do the AFL want us to just be competitive, or do they want us to be a powerhouse club again. If it is the latter, then it's possible that the AFL will give us pick 1, but if the AFL bow to other clubs, we'll get a later PP.
  19. Rightfully so, when Jack Trengoves getting a gig on the banner, I'd say the majority of the side would be peeved.
  20. I think Watts is just being loyal to Neil Craig by holding off. Because we know Watts will sign if Craig is coach, so maybe Watts is just being loyal. With the amount of stick Jack has already copped in his career, there is no way he'd leave. If he left, he'd cop it ten fold worse. Opposition sides love to hate on Melbourne, but if Watts left, they'd hate on him.
  21. Watts won't go anywhere, it's not even worth potting him over.
