  1. Hanley won't leave Brisbane and for pick 1, we lose out on that trade anyway. Sides will want pick 1, we'd get a better deal than that. Watts for pick 9 only happens if Watts wants out. I think if we get a priority then 1,3 and 19 is enough to work with. Sylvia leaving will probably be where we get another handy pick. We'll need to trade our pick 1, consider it an investment to keep Frawley, we'll need a ready made mid. We should see pick 1 as a bonus and trade it for an elite mid fielder.
  2. Crouch, Dunstan or Durmont, cannot go wrong. Hopefully Essendon lose their pick and a side bids on McDonald forcing North to take him early. That would bump us up a couple.
  3. Sheed, Crouch, Durmont and Battesby would all be suitable options for us.
  4. Only if he slips for mine. But I still wouldn't cry if we did pull the trigger on him early.
  5. Pick 9 for Watts is a realistic trade. Sides get a ready made, versatile player who hasn't fulfilled his talent - yet looks more than capable. We get pick 9, which gives us access to a very good player. On Rockcliff and Sidebottom, both their clubs would see pick one as enough, no extra needed. I believe Sidebottom is worth pick 1, Rockcliff and Rory Sloane would just fall short of pick 1.
  6. He should be there, we can't use our pick 19/20 on him, because a topliner will slip. It's a great draft to have 19/20 at, because I believe it's fairly even. Out of Crouch, Dunstan, Durmont, one of those could easily slip to 19/20. If Jones is there for our 3rd round, I'd take him or Garlett.
  7. They'd never give up Crouch. Two young kids are off limits for SA clubs, Wines and Crouch, they are players you build sides around. My sources tell me young Crouch is as good, if not better than Brad Crouch.
  8. If Magner doesn't come back in this week, you'd think he's just about done with us. No big loss, just surprised he hasn't had more of a go, same with Couch. It's not like we've been killing it. I reckon Gold Coast would beat us atm even without Ablett jr. Outs: Davey, Toumpas, Howe, Trengove. In: Blease, Strauss, Dawes, Tynan. Blokes like Tynan deserve a chance before the year is out. Any players we are carrying that haven't got a chance, they need one before the year is out. We have unearthed Gawn and Fitz, now it's time to give the rest of them a go before next year.
  9. Good thread, I agree with Demonfan, I think PJ and Walsh is a step in the right direction. Another pre-season into Jack Viney is exactly what we need, thank god for Viney.
  10. How did West Coast do it, well... If they can make the finals, they try to, if they can't, then they pull the pin and use the picks system. West Coast and Collingwood shown everyone how to take advantage of the PP system the smart way. Melbourne, Carlton, Hawthorn, St Kilda and Richmond fell in love with the system too much and it affected their culture.
  11. Brisbane won't be a heavy loss for them, especially with Brown out - who's leadership is underrated. Those GWS kids could take it right up to Brisbane.
  12. We won't be accused of tanking this year, we are the worst side in the comp by a space. GWS and the Bullies have improved out of sight the past month. The Bullies were always going to improve as well, regardless of how the media like to spin the Bulldogs, their list isn't that bad. They have Griffin, Cooney and are surrounded by experienced blokes like Gia, Murphy, Boyd and Cross, they were always well ahead of us. We can't afford to play without Clark, Dawes and have blokes like Frawley get injured, we just haven't got the depth to cover them. Then on top of that, Jamar and Evans are out, leaves us pretty vulnerable. I wouldn't be surprised if we did win the spoon, but I wouldn't lose heart about it, the MFC are on the right track. PJ is a god send and the best thing that has happened to this club since we made the Grand Final. PJ gives me hope that i'll see a Demons flag before I kick the bucket.
  13. Barlow, yes, the bloke who Freo rookie, right after we re-rookied Matt Newton for some unknown reason, then went onto re-rookie Meeson. That was a good rookie draft, these blokes were taking us no where, yet instead of looking in the VFL, etc.. We just go Newton and Meeson, on ya Dees. As for Nat Fyfe, he is clearly an exception and all sides shake their head at that one, that does happen. Sunny Walters is a pure footballer and has always oozzed class, as has Wingard... Lucas Cook has not, he was a prospect, a project type we chose early for some reason. You won't catch me blaming our development either, I don't think it has been the best, but that is an easy excuse - I firmly believe we drafted a combination of soft kids who some happened to also be stick thin insects as well... Toumpas is just soft, I guess we should be thankful he isn't an insect. Ollie Wines is a man, looks and plays like one, don't you date put Toumpas in the same sentence.
  14. Well you clearly don't like the big bodied midfielders who actually have a dip, or you wouldn't be still whinging. Let me guess, you are still attached to Morton, Cook and Gysberts? It's ok bud, don't panic, we'll probably get more athletic insects in.
  15. Big bodied players who go in and get the ball. If Scully gets in the road, run through him. We wouldn't even have a player able to run through Tom Scully, which is sad. I can not make it anymore clearer what I believe to be our downfall - we draft the thin athletic types instead of the well built footballers. Machiavelli, you can hold onto hope that we have done the right thing, but I don't think we have. I don't think we should've overlooked Sloane in favor of the flashy Benell... Overlook Parker/Darling in favor of a stick thin athlete like Cook. The MFC continues to draft these types, I understand you like these types Machiavelli, I personally don't, it's a matter of opinion and whilst I don't agree with yours - I respect it.
  16. I am of the belief that was Neeld's doing. Viney selected Terlich and Jones IMO. Hopefully Todd will clear this up in time.
  17. We are talking about Joel Selwood, Luke Parker, Rory Sloane, Dustin Martin, Callan Ward, Ollie Wines, those types of players. There will always be room in the game for these players. The MFC probably decided that game no longer exists when they drafted Morton, Cook, Gysberts, etc. But, they forgot to take into account that the aim of the game is to score goals and to do so - you actually have to get the ball. Todd Viney appears to be on the right track, Terlich and Jones were great pick ups and good on him, he has done an amazing job.
  18. Well said... The MFC don't like hard bodied, hard at it types... We've been going through a phase of collecting stick thin athletes, what for, who knows? Maybe oneday they will announce that they've just been taking the p*ss for the past decade.
  19. It will take a 3 year deal and top dollar to get him here. He certainly won't be offered that at Hawthorn. Luke Parker is another one we should be targeting, he'd be perfect and is in a more attractive age bracket. With Mitchell coming through, it's limited Parker's time in the midfield at Sydney. Now both Mitchell and Parker spent more time outside the midfield and even McVeigh has been pushed down back. I can't imagine Parker would see himself getting anymore time next year, he'll get even less! We should offer him an attractive salary, it would be worth a shot.
  20. We should get the best PP available to us, which would be within the first few selections. If it's pick 1, float it up for trade - a couple of selections in the top 10, or a player and a pick in the top 10. Take Sheed with our pick 2 and take Durmont or another midfielder with the other pick. Then we'd still have pick 19, which a handy player will slide out of the first round, they always do.
  21. Haven't you got school tomorrow?
  22. Is that you Barry P? "Class always wins out in the end". That basically says to me you have absolute no idea about football or even what it takes to succeed in sports in general. So, I have nothing more to add, you are completely ignorant.
  23. Ollie had 7 tackles today, our highest on the weekend was 4. Wines represents hard work and having a crack, not sitting on the outside and looking pretty hitting a target every now and then. The MFC is desperately in need of these players. Ollie Vs Toumpas? Seriously, not even a comparison and never was. Don't insult Ollie Wines, for christs sake.
  24. Hogan and Viney play aggressive football, they are men's men. Trengove is a girl, Toumpas is a girl, Cook, all these guys you probably love - Morton, I could probably roll on. I don't care how seriously you take me, but Nathan Jones should be captain and Viney and Hogan are cut from that cloth. The trouble with MFC is that we have too many skirts on our list. Do you think Tom Scully was worried on the weekend, that he would feel a hit? Not in the slightest.
  25. We are not a charity case, if we give up any picks, they'd want to be for a Crouch, Wingard or Wines type players. Players get home sick, we should be asking questions to any young talent.
