Having midfielders who know what they are doing can only help the young kids. If we had Tapscott and Blease running through the midfield and getting kicks as our best players, they'd learn nothing. These types learn for Magner and Couch, that is why they are vital to have around. Not only that, it gives any forwards a chance to kick some goals, as we see with Hogan. Plus, when Viney was at Casey, he was in the midfield whenever he liked, so it's just a case of us having no other young mids coming through. Stark might get a run in the there next year, but he needs to put on some size or he'll get flat stanlied.

Just like supporters are also smart enough to see that we draft outside players - instead of inside types who actually go in and get the ball. Supporters aren't silly, we have to watch the Cale Mortons and Jordan Gysberts' year after year, when we could have the Dangerfields and other great players. We have to watch the Dustins Martins and Ollies WInes go around dominating the competition when they were exactly what we needed at the time. MFC drafters seem to have the mentality that they need a Chris Judd type player, when there are usually an abundance of Selwood types on offer, which is what we've needed the past decade. After years of talking down Dustin Martin, I guess now it's Dees fans to talk down Ollie Wines, but it's not Martin or Wines fault they are absolute guns.

Viney is hopefully going to be very good. But on what we've seen of Wines, nothing suggests he is below Jack in any area. Viney is more explosive, but Wines is bigger, stronger and there is nothing wrong with his skills. Ollie has the points on the board, Dees fans only knock him because we haven't got him. That is not Ollie Wines fault, he also had a strong desire to play for the MFC. I much prefer Wines Vs Viney comparisons though, than Wines Vs Toumpas. Viney has shown that he might catch and surpass Ollie eventually, but Toumpas hasn't shown that.

Slight chance, it's hard to say as Dunstan is rated around a 10-20 pick. It's possible he will be there, but regardless, there will be a good player that slips to 20.

I think Evans is the victim in all of this. Evans was just trying to do what is best for his players, then he came up against Hird - who is trying to do what is best for himself.

I am starting to think James Hird is a sociopath in the mould of Lance Armstrong. He lied through his teeth before taking the coaching job, this was very easy to him, failed to take responsibility for that lie, continues to fail to take responsibility for his role in the the drugs and continues to preach that Essendon have done nothing wrong when evidence says otherwise. Hird is delusional, unaccountable, untruthworthy and unremorseful. On top of this, there are blokes like Dank and Robinson who say that the whole program was Hird's idea! Then throw in his past work with Charter in 2003 where he apparently paid him a large fee just for advice... Like Armstrong, we might find out that Sir James is no saint afterall
