  1. Spot on. King put his nads on the line be saying the Neeld was gone after 3-4 rounds. The thing with Paul Roos, and he ticks most boxes with a big thick tick, is that his ability to put in offensive plays and strategies is highly questionable. Even Sydney at their prime with Goodes, Hall, O'Loughlin would often get slow delivery from D50 to I50. When the Swans under Roos were down by 4-5 goals, that was essentially it for them. The 2000's was the decade of defence, epitomised by Roos' Swans, and Lyon's Saints. This decade might require more offensive flair to cut through professional defensive structures. Roos, like Rossy Lyon, hasn't been able to discover the offensive switch. Lyon declared that Freo would go for 2 goals extra per game in 2014, and failed. I realise that the cake (basic skills) needs to be decent before the icing can be put on; but Lyon's difficulty with Freo's offensive progress tells us me that the defensofiles (Lyon, Roos) might never find the switch.
  2. This guy could be anything. How some supporters think he is dispensable is beyond me. A multi-dimensional medium that can play tall or smaller. With a better tank, can rotate through the midfield. Should command $$$ in a year's time IMO.
  3. If Roos can add that inside hardness and selflessness (like he has with NevJet, and the hyphen), then this guy can be special. Would be good if he can learn to run faster than Dustin Fletcher.
  4. At Hawthorn's first training session, 96% of the list will be hitting targets. One guy will be butchering it toward the freeway. Never in the history of the AFL has a poorer decision-maker and executioner earned such a contract. Surely Roos, PJ and co. wanted him to go, despite the public utterances.
  5. Agree. I still wont discount the possibility of getting Rodney, despite Adelaide's public denials. Public talk is cheap in the AFL. (Brendan Bolton won't keep being publicly interested in jobs because the public rejections hurt you. Same way that Voss "isn't interested in coaching" but if suns came knocking he would go.) Adelaide need to stick fat for the moment and hope they can tie Danger down for years, otherwise they risk a pick 11 for him as FA compo in 12 months time. I don't care what Adelaide says publicly, the pick 2&3 combo bait is enticing. Lot of unknowns over in Adelaide. Not many here now.
  6. Line-breaking and bouncing are massive flaws in modern MFC footy. Harry, Garlett, Varcoe (heading west?) is the injection we are clearly after. Looks like Roos year 1 went for inside mids; year 2 for line-breaking outsiders.
  7. C & B, if you want quantity over quality, sign Brendan Bolton up for 10 years. The MFC has only dented reputations. The guy should be paid double to mop up the mess of Neeld and Co.
  8. Bomber Thompson brought Dean Robinson and hence Dank to the Essendon Football Club. Thompson has got away with this. $30,000 is nothing. We have written evidence that Hird said in an email that "as long as everything is above board...etc..." Mark Thompson was in phone conversations with Tim Watson for half a year while he was Geelong coach. Yet Wallace was condemned for agreeing to Sydney in the weeks before his departure from the Bulldogs. Wallace was open and up-front with his players and the club. Compare this to Thompson...but the footy world loves his presser humour and thinks he is a better coach than he actually is. You know what, how far have they actually come since Mathew Knights, remembering the money paid to 2 coaches, supplements, and imports like Goddard. They haven't progressed much at all. I feel sorry for Hird. Thompson brought those guys in. Even Goodwin is on record as wanting "the good stuff". These guys have been rewarded, yet Hird is forced to carry the can, and apparently is not allowed to defend himself in court. One rule of one, different for the rest.
  9. Ben Hur lifts the average intellect of your our supporter base by many notches. The guy is absolutely clinical with his thought process. Many of us need to toughen up when he gives us a bit of a dose of his ultra-clinical opinion, albeit without sentiment. Bring back H.
  10. Roos' ability to pick established players is second to none in the history of the game. So its not like the good old days of us on the web second guessing the club on its moves. I reckon privately though, Roos has had enough of Watts, so it wouldn't surprise me that he does get traded. Mitch Clark though, or Mitch Who as Rossy called him. I want to leave Brisbane. I want to go to Freo for family reasons. Hang on, Melbourne have offered me $$$$, I'll go there. Hang on, that is not a good place for my headspace, I will go and talk to Cwood. Hang on, I think Geelong. Poor guy. Doesn't know what stick fat means. Will always go the soft easy option when ever it presents. Will always raise his condition as an excuse for getting what he wants.
  11. The choice of Hodge or Judd etc... is only half the story. What we all forget is that Hawthorn put their nads on the line to get pick 1 in the first place. Remember Trent Croad? Using your picks well is half the battle. The other half is trading out overrated trade value, and having the balls to do so. Hawthorn got rid of Croad (for pick 1 for memory), Johnny Hay, Nathan Thompson etc... Some smart people were demanding that this club do something similar with a Jeff White, Cale Morton (after year 1), etc...
  12. Luke Breust - Fair dinkum, he never holds his feet in a contest. Throws his head back constantly. In an average side, this guy would be shown up big time. A+ grade set shot, but that is it. Has thrived on getting the 3rd or 4th best defender for years; and also thrived on quick perfect delivery. Mitch Duncan - I hope we don't get him for Clark. Might as well let Clark go in the draft.
  13. To be honest, when Frawley won his AA, I thought he was a very flawed footballer. Like Luke Breust, Shannon Byrnes, Matt Spangher etc... they can hide with elite around them.
  14. Frawley aint worth pick 3. That is assistance in my book.
  15. Myth. He wasn't even in Adelaide's final 3. Didn' t do well in the psychobabble test apparently. Unfortunately, the brains-trust of the MFC thought that Adelaide were about to pounce.
  16. Neeld had poor oratory skills. This guy aint that much better. Roos and Jeans are/were A grade. I hope his footy brain, and communication ability, and stake-holder massaging ability is better than his oratory skills.
  17. Should put the statue a metre in front of Bucky.
  18. Rivers was always good; albeit hampered by knee issues over the journey. Frawley was always overrated. Geelong won't turn Frawley into Rivers. No chance.
  19. According to Quayle this morning, we could force Collingwood to use pick 8 on Moore by bidding with the Frawley pick on him. Surely, this will come into play with Clark, O'Brien, Lumumba, and anything else. Collingwood need to massage us a little bit I think.
  20. The thing that hurts with Wines is that he wanted to come here. As I posted with my first post on land, basically there was a chance to build a fraternity here…a brotherhood. I'd love to know the inside machinations of the decision. Neeld probably wanted to exert his power over Todd.
  21. I have paid money to watch pansies for a decade. I'll have Robinson over 90% of the try-hards that have put on the jumper. At least with him there is unequivocal commitment to the pill or the man with the ball.
  22. http://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/mick-malthouse-criticises-mitch-clark-for-reluctance-to-rejoin-melbourne-and-look-elsewhere/story-fndv8pdq-1227055496165
  23. He aint a goal kicker though. For a guy with his attributes of pace, ability-to-break-a-tackle, disposal efficiency etc..., he doesn't cap it off enough. Having said that, we can't be too choosy. As long as it aint Neeld's sloppy seconds-stuff from a few years ago, we will be OK.
  24. Now Prickly Mick is weighing in on the debate. I presume he doesn't want Bucks to be gifted a clunking 2nd tall in his forward half. He is right. Let's play hardball. First round pick or try your luck with St.Kilda, Melbourne, Dogs etc.... via the draft.
