I am worried about them more than what Freo can do to the supporters' morale.

My favourite from Sesame St.

Old habits. I meant demonlanders. Sorry.
-
Actually neither.

Are those garments are made of crepe or rice paper, as far as us MFC supporters are concerned?
-
If we win, twats like Mark Fine will say: In classical Drew Morphett mode - "Gee with, no wonder Melbourne supporters get frustrated......wooden spooners beat them one day, then they beat top of the ladder team the next." Paul Garden-Knome will say: "I told you we should have aimed higher" Roosy will say: "Unlike the supporters, we as a coaching group don't get too excited with these wins, nor do we get too depressed about the losses" A lot of those depressed and irrational on Demonology (sic) will be ringing ticketek to book finals tickets
-
Not a ridiculous proposition that we couldn't push them. Why? 1. Fyfe out 2. Players owe Roos and supporters to play like maniacs and angry 3. Freo aren't a quick team 4. They are thinking 2 weeks ahead and may be in mild preservation mode. But as many here know, we have to play quarter 1 like the last one we will ever play.

Some serious questions need to be asked about our supporters and the media
TGR replied to TGR's topic in Melbourne Demons
Who knows about the McCartney factor? I know personally, that Macca was a bit unfair on a few players (such as Koby Stevens' milestone last year). We know that another introverted captain in Ryan Griffen didn't see eye-to-eye in him. Who knows. All I know is that it takes time and some cattle for an amazing coach to get results. Beveridge may be amazing and is surely coach of the year, but look deep and wide as well. -

Great observations H_T. Can I just throw in one thing. When is the timeframe of a game where speed is at its greatest? The start. That's why I often will dabble in HT/FT doubles thinking about this fact. -

Actually, if you read ology, there was no poster more critical/negative about the plight of the MFC circa 2002-2013 that me. Hindsight shows that if you were bullish, you were absolutely deluded. -

Suck it up princess (plural). Garry rang Mick to enquire about coaching us didn't he? Hang on....you might be right. -
http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/todd-viney-well-aware-of-the-competitive-nature-of-potential-draftee-ollie-wines/story-e6frg6n6-1226509826657 You could you make this claim? I thought it was common knowledge. Have a look at this for a start.....and his video interview in it. There is also evidence (I can't find it yet) of the ultimatum he gave Melbourne. "You don't pick me now, you have lost me for ever". The Wines family was absolutely distraught at the fact that Port chose him, instead of Melbourne.
-
Gee this was a good observation. All I would say is this. Wines wanted to come to the MFC. Prayed, pleaded, everything. To make matters worse, Port Adelaide have annointed him as next captain in his first year, ala Selwood at Geelong. For a club that had no inside contested youth. For a club that has difficulty being a destination club. For a club that has been bereft of leadership. For a club that has difficulty retaining players. Surely, this was a no brainer. Yes, we need to move on. But we also need to applaud those Demonlander's who picked it before the fact. Read my thread on brotherhood, Wines & Viney before the draft. If this was another era, we would have blamed Toumpas's slow rise on our "development" inadequacy at the club. That is another debate for another day.

Mate, we are still a bottom sector team. For mine, we played another bottom-sector team who have been underperforming. Malthouse did predict massive things for them in 2015? There was surely some self-preservation in his comments, but maybe even a scintilla of truth. Gee wiz, if you followed the Storm, and saw them getting beaten by Newcastle, you'd slit your wrists I guess. The MFC haven't had good wins or draws since "the Sydney draw" under Bailey. This year, we have had a few. Surely we have turned the corner. The wins have been good, but you have to be able to understand football, to put these wins in context, and I am afraid, 98% of MFC supporters, and 80% of demonlanders don't understand football. Full stop. And if Hannabal has quit demonland, make that 90% of demonlanders, as he has a few accounts. -
I have thought Josh Caddy and Mitch Duncan are grossly overrated, especially Caddy. He looks like Tarzan and his impact and decision-making in big games is average. Kelly is over the hill. Lincoln who? Rivers has been playing on one knee since his Melbourne days. The only player that would genuinely impact them is Stanley, who with Blicavs, has become part of the new age unpredictable quick ruck set up of the AFL. Our injury list is chalk and cheese. Petracca, Frost, Kent would give us so much of what we need.

Can't fix speed on the outside? You cant magically fix this up in 1-2 seasons. I am glad Roos got us to Bruise-free to contested. Now we can think about speed. Garlett for pick 60 or whatever it was, was one solid step. -

Irony is that if Cloke didn't mark everything and kicked 7 straight or whatever it was (unrepeatable), Melbourne would by only 1 game behind Collingwood. I don't hear many Collingwood supporters calling for Buckley's head. And, and, Collingwood didn't have the wrecking ball in Neeld and Co. trashing the place 3 years ago. Collingwood supporters can see where they are going, despite the bumps. Richmond supporters have stuck fat with Hardwick, despite big questions (me included) early this year! Melbourne supporters sook, whinge, want to be cuddled, and want apologies for the past. How pathetic. -
3. Get Medical Staff that can sort out our injury list; especially consider full-time lower-limb experts (particularly foot and ankle) Jeremy Howe (hamstring) test Jayden Hunt (back) 2 weeks Dean Kent (heel) test Alex Neal-Bullen (knee) 3-4 weeks Christian Petracca (knee) season Jack Trengove (foot) indefinite Bernie Vince (hamstring) test Paul Roos (ego) 3 weeks Paul Gardner (relevance deprivation syndrome) 8 years MFC staff (depression) 4 years Nathan Jones (introversion) 2 years Paleo (joke) life Supporters (heart transplant) 2 years Culture (premature) 3 years

Maybe Fyfe hates the fishbowl of Perth? Who the hell knows. Maybe we need to bring the inevitable forward (Hogan to WA???)? Don't forget, when Freo & WC are higher on the ladder, our position is strengthened. We just need to be ruthless and entertain absolutely and utterly everything.

Some serious questions asked about Paul Roos ...
TGR replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
I agree with Thomas. The comments were directed to the entire club, especially staff within it. He has back-pedalled because he has walked on broken glass. If he doesn't back-pedal, we have Neeld all over again. If he does, he has to cop what Thomas rightfully says. The issue isn't with Roos. It is cultural. It is the fact that the club has a soft underbelly that permeates from supporter-base to staff to coterie groups to everywhere. Even Jesus H. Christ can't fix that in 19 months. Of course this was never directed to us supporters as a whole. -
And vice versa during his rule. That is the problem.

Just been to the club and spoke to Webber and the Medicos and another Cert III personal trainer, and have come up with an updated injury list... Jeremy Howe (hamstring) test Jayden Hunt (back) 2 weeks Dean Kent (heel) test Alex Neal-Bullen (knee) 3-4 weeks Christian Petracca (knee) season Jack Trengove (foot) indefinite Bernie Vince (hamstring) test Paul Roos (ego) 3 weeks Paul Gardner (relevance deprivation syndrome) 8 years MFC staff (depression) 4 years Nathan Jones (introversion) 2 years Paleo (joke) life Supporters (heart transplant) 2 years Culture (premature) 3 years

Some serious questions asked about Paul Roos ...
TGR replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Maybe Lloyd is right. But Roos' thinking hasn't got old. Conversely, the AFL have done everything in their power to eliminate stoppages, which is where the Roos game plan starts and ends. I notice lately that umps sprint in to ball up even if no ruckman is there. That is one example. Where I have faith though, is that Roos aint an old dog like Malthouse. I have faith in him to tweak. I actually liked some of his moves (McDonald on the ball). In 2016, Garlett needs to become a midfield for us. That is the key thing that must happen in my view. -

That is smugness. They come from the same stock in the civilised eastern suburbs. As I said in another thread...."MFC supporters just cant stick fat with a solid process and take the hits that come with it. We are soft eastern suburbs of Melbourne types that complain when our son gets tackled a tad hard"
