Top 5 are fairly even... no ready to go superstars. It not a super draft! -
2016 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
spirit of norm smith replied to dee-luded's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think we will delist 5 players, upgrade Wagner, trade for Hibberd and grab either Zac Clarke, Michael Barlow or as free agents/delisted free agents. Leaves us 2 picks (3rd and 4th round) around 45 and 63. 3rd round options likely: Brodie Romensky, Hamish Brayshaw, Oscar Junker, Willem Drew, Louis Cunningham, Jeremy Goddard. 4th round smokies or punts (past 50, the draft success rate for a 100+ game player is about less than 10%). Patrick Naish, Sam McLarty, Brett Blair, Lachlan Walker, Lachlan Tiziani. -
Who are the Dees chasing for 2017 and at what cost?
spirit of norm smith replied to junk's topic in Melbourne Demons
agree... Aaron Davey retired too early. Was another player pushed by Neeld (what a shocking coach he was. Set MFC back 3 years). -
yes hopefully Sanderson is a top candidate for our vacant assistant coach positions
-
Demons must look at Oscar Junker from the Jets. We do need a versatile forward that screams for the footy and can kick opportunistic goals as a Gunston type forward.
-
We have nothing to offer... Marchbank is worth a player or a draft pick around 18 to 25. Certain to go to Blues for pick 22 and 40 as a swap for Marchbank and pick 50.
-
IMO...Five to go off main list and two rookies Terlich Grimes (persecution) Dawes /Pedersen M.Jones / M.White Newton Michie(r) Max King (r) Wagner to be upgraded. Add Melksham. Grab Hibberd for pick 27 swap

Can anyone compare MFC with the Lions performance and honestly say the Lions deserve a priority pick ?? Is it the AFL again showing bias against the traditional clubs. Surely the Lions academy is enough. Let them rebuild and go through a decade without finals action.

My 3 word player end of season analysis
spirit of norm smith replied to joeboy's topic in Melbourne Demons
end of season trade time ahead good drafting essential new boss Goodwin ... -
Maybe swap for Grimes... ie. we give nothing up !! Lennon is talented but soft
-
John Butcher will be back at a country club or SANFL club in 2017. Great bloke apparently but terrible skills. Needs to be within 15 metres of goal.

Dawes stays if - ?Jesse Hogan walks out and demands a trade to Freo AND - He accepts a one-year deal for $250,000 and performance based incentives Otherwise he is gone

The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here
spirit of norm smith replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
Honestly he was disinterested today. Again on 3 occasions he played for free kicks. Competitive... hardly? Hogan was rumoured to be after $800,000 a year for min. 5 year deal. wow... he is NOT worth that (just my opinion). Freo offer might be pick 3 and their 1st round pick in 2017 draft. Hmmm ... no ... no.... umm ... but just maybe... yeh !!! -

BOX HILL HAWKS v CASEY SCORPIONS
spirit of norm smith replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
agree ... 41 available. Mitch King and Lamumba unavailable. Dawes rested due to contract negotiations. MFC: we have paid $500,000 for 4 years (official) for $2million total for 50 games. $40,000 per game. Its changing to $200,000 plus performance incentives. We need to keep Hogan. Take it or leave it. -
I have consulted with an actuary and after 5 hours, they have confirmed my predictions are eligible. Next step NASA for verification of the AFLs new rules !!
