Who are the Dees chasing for 2017 and at what cost?
spirit of norm smith replied to junk's topic in Melbourne Demons
Brad Crouch ... throw a 5 year contract his way. He is a gun. -
The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here
spirit of norm smith replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hogan for Taberner, pick 4 and Crozier. hmmmm... maybe -
Only if he was delisted and we could offer a rookie spot. Big talent but too fragile given constantly injured.

How many wins will we end up with in 2016
spirit of norm smith replied to junk's topic in Melbourne Demons
I thought 8 wins at the start of 2016 and think that will be the mark. We should beat Pies, Blues and Suns. I did count on beating the Saints at least once but they appear to have our measure. 8-14 record would have us about 13th-14th. The loss to a half AFL Essendon is still hard to stomach. -
Michael Hibberd and Michael Hurley
spirit of norm smith replied to P-man's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hibberd... yes yes and yes. Goes in hard. Can lock down midsize forwards ... Breust, Lecras, etc. Very good disposal. Frees up Salem and Vince. -
Ins. Kennedy Grimes Outs. Harmes Garlett Jetta T.Mcd o.mcd Wagner Frost Grimes Vince Trengove Stretch Kent Dawes Petraccccccccca Kennedy Hogan Watts Gawn Tyson N.Jones Oliver Hunt Vandenburg Bugg

Yes...

Ins. Mitch White, Kennedy Outs. O.mcd Harmes Put Salem on the long term injury list (next 5-6) weeks and upgrade White. White showed again today that his disposal even in poor conditions is very good.

1988 finals wins over Collingwood & Carlton
spirit of norm smith replied to Bring-Back-Powell's topic in Melbourne Demons
The 88 finals were memorable. The comeback against the Eagles at VFL park. We were asleep in the first half. Lyons goal and Wrensteads miss were the difference. Alan Johnson was the real hero. Game against Magpies... I felt we were always going to win. Back to VFL Park for prelim. The ghosts of 87 were still on our minds. Jackson and Wight were the heros. I still felt nervous at 3/4 time as the Blues had the wind advantage. Then at the siren... exhilaration but panic. How do you get GF tickets... a new challenge. Myself and other friends queued overnight to get tickets (Captains Club) and we went with hope to play the Hawks. We got smashed. Bad goalkicking meant we were down early and it was boys against men. We had 2 players with over 100 games experience and the Hawks had 9 with over 100 games and at least half their team was dual premiership players. Hope gave way to disappointment. I agree 1990 was our true hope and the one we should have won. -
Agreed. Jack's form in 2016 has been very good. He was good in our pre season matches and each week at Casey (would be a favourite for the JJ Liston at this stage). In fact he has been in the emergencies for 8 games already !! His marking, ability to win the footy, tackle and pace are all good. Yes his kicking is at about 65% (from 2015) but I have seen improvement in 2016. Grimes is better than T.mcd, Lamumba, Garland in terms of his footskills. Tell him to kick to Jesse whenever he gets it!! I think Roos has marked Grimes as 'out' like many coaches seem to do, sometimes at their detriment. Roos prefers blooding youngsters in the hope they develop. Grimes would find a home elsewhere in 2017 easily. I want Jack to be given a fair go and hopefully gets in on form and discarded on concrete thinking.

CASEY SCORPIONS v PORT MELBOURNE
spirit of norm smith replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
susp. Viney season injury. Mitch King injured Garland (1) Lamumba (tbc) Brayshaw (tbc) J. Smith (??) Salem (ill) -
Agree. Dunn was ok and shutdown roles against Kangaroos and Tigers. Obviously frustrated during Saints game and I think wanted T.mcd to man up on Riewoldt. Dunn has been very good in Casey games. Why is o.mcd still getting a game? he has been absolutely terrible ... a Liability !! I am confused. We need experience in our back 6.

My 3 word player analysis V Pt Adelaide
spirit of norm smith replied to joeboy's topic in Melbourne Demons
Ahead of ourselves... too many passengers... wake up Roosy... kick straight please. Any more three words needed. in Frost Dunn out Garland o.mcd -
We gave the warning last week. "WE ALL TOLD YOU SO" Too slow. Not strong enough. Lacks pace. Easily outmarked. His effort against Wines was very average indeed. Back to Casey until he gets urgency and an upper body ready for AFL.

A MUST WIN GAME TODAY ... Port, Crows and Demons will battle for that 8th position. Top 7 is locked in for me. If the Demons lose, back in the 9th to 13th pack. Can Gawn ruck all day... he looked tired last week !!!
