absolutely hopeless defense -
I think Hibbard and Melksham both have to line up in our backline. these guys will give us real drive out of the backline. It would come down to Salem, Hunt or Jetta looses their spot. I am chuffed that for once we have really problems in deciding our team because we have depth in virutally all areas. Leaves us in a great position.

The players are getting extremely well paid, the average is wage is somewhere around $75k, though there are an awful lot of people not getting anywhere near that evern. Base wage for a footballer is around $300k, 4 x the average wage, So someone playing for 3 years will earn close to $1m, which would take someone on an average wage something like 13 years to earn that same amount. Some obviously have short careers 1-3 years but at least they had a chance and some have had long careers at even greater money how much did we pay Dawes. And they get that money even though they may have been pretty ordinary seasons at times. Cloak springs to mind... In my mind there are a lot of players paid far more than they are worth. Some dont even play for years at a time due to injuries but still get huge salaries. Sorry I think striking for more is just greedy, If they dont want to play then move over there are a lot more young and older folk who would love the wonderful opportunity that they have.

2016 Player Review - # 8 Heritier Lumumba
Deecisive replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Harry is obviously chasing the $ not the job, so even if we let him go he is bound to be engaging some ambulance chasing lawyers to sue because of the mental anguish he suffered from all of his concussions with the demons have left him unable to work, or even train. So lets assume that he goes either willingly or not so willingly, what are our options to replace him, would we be able to draft another rookie, or would we be limited to promoting one of our existing rookies. -

looks an exciting prospect, a decent pre season on him should kick him up another level. -
Not sure they are making GSW look any better, these other clubs had administrative oversights, not blatant braindead coverups. they should be suspended for a mininum of 2 years for sheer stupidity.
-
As he played for a bottom side the number of opportunities he had to get the ball and score would have been far less than most if not all other teams, so his output needs to be judged on opportunities not just number of goals. I think it would be better to judge him by his work ethic, kicking efficiency, accuracy, etc... I doubt he will make it to the rookie draft, but if he does he is probably a better option than some pimply 18 who will take a few years to mature.
-
didnt geelong also get some dispensation to allow them to again trade their future picks so they could land one of their new boys. Why have a rules when the AFL just changes them as they like to suit themselves.
-
he broke the rules, he should be punished in line with others who have also broken the rules. No one likes it when the afl punishes players differently at the tribunal ever week, or on the umpires on the field favor one side over another. This is the same thing. we all want a level playing field. all 3 should be banned, and the club should be penalised for trying to cover it up. Personnally I would give them all another year on top of what ever sentence they get for gross stupidity of trying to blame this on his girlfriend who was not even in the country at the time, so tell me again who or what he was running away from when he stay away from home. Shame about his career but that will give another player who has not made those mistakes a chance to show what he can do.
-
all these years and they never raised this before, must have all forgotten, now all remember. And just to make sure the girlfriend believed them they deleted all other emails and correspondence that the girlfriend didnt know about, just to make it looked like a coverup and not look like he was avoiding her.. Wow these guys are real strategists, I can see why eddie wanted allen. Colingwood has a lot of players with 'girlfriend' trouble.
-
i could see collingwood going for him, he has most of the baggage already that most collingwood players take years to accumulate.
-
cannot say I was impressed with his disposals, how many of those disposals actually went to his team mates.
-
Was quietly hoping the JOM deal would not go through that would have really have stuffed up the hawks clearance sale.
-
He has been a good club man I wish him great success at the filth, i would personnally like it if he ended up beating howe for a position in the woods backline as they sink further towards the bottom of the ladder.

maybe essendon are worried we will have a great year next year if we finish say 4th the our first pick without any compo being given to any team would be 14, our second pick would be at around 32. with compo, father and son etc that could be anything. if essendon dont believe we are going to go any good next year i.e. finish 8, then our 2nd round pick could be 26th without compo, etc... so maybe essendon have faith that we are going to have a good year next year -
maybe not but we are trying to trade them to collingwood who has a history of trying to bend us over and screw us, so it would be nice to get one over them.

Deecisive replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
lol, i cannot see that happening, after all they just gave away their captain for pick 88 and he was the best and fairest winner, why would we be giving pick 66 and a young potentially good player for the guy that came second. no, back to the drawing board hawks. -
I would assume chris fagan will want to have a talk with rockliff before any deal was done. whether that is with melbourne or someone else. I would love to know why the lack of interest in him? what does every other club seem to know about him that rules him out.
-
isnt there a couple more delisted free agent trading periods?

we play the players that are playing the best at all time, no matter who they are. If the above drafting does materialise then we will have reaosonable depth across most areas, so players will know they have to compete to keep a place in our side. We will have injuries from time to time and may need to rest players, so apart from Gawn and possibly Hogan we should have most positions covered. so our remaining draft picks this year need to address that. -
collingwood maybe willing to give us Howe in return for garland or dunn
-
we need to try to get rockliff, hibberd and lewis deals done if we can. loosing a first draft pick next year is not a major concern, if we have a good year next year our first draft pick would probably be in the early 20's by the time the afl finishes giving out freebies to all and sundry. Anyone you take in the draft is a possible future champ, but as our previous drafting experience has shown it is not something we have excelled at. Getting into the finals will make us a more attractive destination for out of contract players and just players wanting to leave GWS and other clubs, Hawthorne and Geelong have both done extremely well with limited draft pick by trading, that is what we need to to. If we are successful and have greater depth then we are also likely to additional players who cannot get a game in our seniors who we will be able to trade for picks, etc.. I think those 3 players would add the grunt we need to set our team up for finals success.

the only risk is 1. if the rumour is correct and 2. the person spreading the rumour is actually connected in the way they say they are
