Given we rarely wind consecutive games, dont play well in perth this was an awesome win, we were undermanned, had a lot of players playing poorly, injuries, some poor umpiring decisions but the players kept pushing through, kept up the momentum that won them the game. One of the best wins in years. could not be more proud of the team

i doubt oliver was staging, his a kid who got a swipe in the chops from a pretty hefty player that took him by surprise. he has always seemed to be a pretty tough kid from what I have seen. he certainly looked [censored] once he got up and still [censored] in the rooms.

hopefully that hit on oliver will fire him and the team up. so they come out and play a lot better football than they have. Our defense has been good, but we need to kick those goals, need to be a lot cleaner with our possessions. and do tackles that stick. eagles players seem to be slipping out of our tackles too easily

not playing well as a team, need to tighten up, we can play far better than this. Lucky our defense is doing well. Main issue is always going to be pettrie we always had trouble with him when he played for north

an awesome display, i cannot remember a better 4 quarters of contested, hard at it football from the Dees. I hope that this opens the players eyes so that they can see what they can and must continue to do for 4 quarters every game.

the dees have had a horrible history of failing to win after a week off in the mid years, this year we won. The dog have been playing poor football, while they are bringing some players back, you have to wonder if they are rushing them in because they are worried. If we take care of libba and the bont then we should win. Our players just have stop kicking it long into the forward line with their hail mary punts we dont have a high marking forward down there so please think.

Interesting approach match their non-ruckman with our non-ruckman. Wouldn't it make more sense to have a reasonable ruckman while they dont so that we have a greater chance of winning clearances. For me I would like to see Gawn or Spencer in to control the ruck and perhaps rest down forward. Also bring in wagner he would provide a bit more down back Out would go, Oscar only due to the smaller doggie forward line and ANB, while ANB got a bit of the ball is effective disposal average was pretty poor, he needs to work on that.

time for melbourne players to step up and beat the pies. virtually everyone needs to lift, need an inspirational half time talk, we have had our putrid quarter now is the time to come out and play football.
-
pies have a lot of outs, hopefully the dees do not see themselves as a shoe in as they have so often in the past lost when going in as a favourite. Need to go out there expecting to play a hard match against 22 opposition players all playing for their future. We need to win and win well.

Gutted at the performance, another game we could have won but did not. Disappointed in the kicking it back and playing keepings off in the last 2:30mins that put us on the defensive and gave Freo the heart to go on the attack and they made us pay. The lack of self belief in going forwrd and attacking is worrying. The lessons from a couple of weeks ago of lowering our eyes and picking out targets instead of bombing long appears lost again.

our kicking for goal was our downfall missed far to many let geelong get a sniff and they took it. No point blaming hogan, weiderman, or anyone else it was a poor team goal kicking effort everyone has days like that, better to have it against a good side the a poor side. today was still an improvement over last year. we need to continue to play young players get games into them, let them mature. future looks pretty good

I like the idea of Spencer going forward and helping out with the ruck work. Having a real tall down forward may soak up a couple of backmen as Geelong tries to cover them. That may give us an edge around the ground, or for our crumbers. Though giving tim smith a go is also probably a good option. We have a few players that did not have a great game, we need to persist with them and only push them back to Casey when someone from Casey forces their way into the team.

THE DROUGHT IS OVER by George on the Outer - POST MATCH DISCUSSION

i thought the game changed for us in the second quarter when Hogan and oliver went on the ball. That seemed to give us some real hard grunt around the ball and change the teams approach and attitude that just kept on going. I do worry about oscar he does appear to be almost like a roo in the headlights when he gets the ball, not sure what to do, maybe he is looking around too much for his brother. Hopefully he can work it out when to play on and how to dispose of the ball, maybe a stint in casey would help. -
8 frees to 2 again we are getting sucked into giving away frees
-
absolute poor, why do we let them have a spare man in defense, our extra man around the ball or where ever he is, is giving us nothing so damn well man up
-
disappointing start. need to get more our of our midfield and need to tackle these guys into the ground

not just kenney alone, half of the eagles side is by themselves their kick outs are to free players in space ours are to boundary lines and then we get caught kicking backwards -
