  1. having numbers around the ball up's results in 1 meter handpasses as we everyone tries to pass it to someone under less pressure. We often have an extra around the ball and allow opposition players to play an extra back of two. So when we inevitably kick short out of the pack we usually find one of these spare opposition players cleaning up and turning our attack into their attack. we have too many instances where we kick into an outnumbered forward line.
  2. i want players who want to try every time they run out onto the field, kent does not strike me as that and even hannan goes missing too often. These guys are paid a heck of a lot of money to play football, they dont realise how fragile that future is, if they dont put in they will lose their career and possibly millions of $'s for a half decent footballer with a 10 year career.
  3. if we got the right offer he would be traded, it would be irresponsible not to consider any trade that benefits the club.
  4. Start of the season with a highly billed revenge match between the dees and the pies, I would hope that this would see the player come out and start the season off with a bang not a whimper like they did after Jimmy died. I want to see real intensity in tackling, some of best side I have ever seen playing AFL always kept pressure on the ball carrier at all times, if they slipped or made a mistake they were gone. Our game plan seems to be corral them and box them in rather than attack so if they slip or make a mistake we arent always there to take advantage.
  5. I just hope that this extremely close lose kicking us out of the finals makes the players think about how every goal can be important throughout the year, and that they remember not to get ahead of themselves, and lose to bottom teams.
  6. a good idea, though i think that at least once a week after training between now every player has to sit down watch the replay of that last game, i know i replay it in my head often enough.
  7. Tom forward, he kicks straight at the goals and his turnover at that end of the ground are not so bad. Melksham wing or half forward he has kicked a few goals when sent forward l would like to see him get more time there. Bernie maybe forward, if at all, when he gets the ball forward he has a decent long kick, again like tom reduce his turnovers that cost us goals. I would like to see Frost back in the back line, i think he adds a bit or run there, given a bit more time i think he will only get better. Trac more time in the midfield, his a big bodied lad who can make a difference.
  8. The free kick count in favour of the eagles got them into the finals. I wonder if the would even have won if the umpiring had been a little more consistent for both sides.
  9. Hot Pies and cold demons seasons over. time to concentrate on fixing what needs fixing. That includes who we draft, who we trade and who we get rid of. Players desperately need to improve their skills. Think up more appropriate training programs i.e. every time our players are meant to run they should do so at full pace bouncing a ball, or handpassing back and forth at tilt and then trying to do an accurate kick or handpass at the end. Practice spreading out when we go forward so we are not in one big clump. More practice tackling and learning to do it right, practice breaking tackles, practice kicking instead of handballs all the time, practice chasing i.e. give a player the ball and get him to run 30m with somone on his hammer chasing him.
  10. I cannot see anyone giving a first round pick for a couple of demon also rans.
  11. we seriously lack depth, having said that we have often been our own worst enemies in games, kicking it directly to the opposition, fumbling, failing to lay tackles, giving away dumb free kicks and 50 meters, etc.. If we could improve our skills and kicking/marking and tacking efficiency, i would suggest we would win a lot more games than we currently do. Turnover costs us biggly all year. maybe a lot more effort has to focus on our skills, and training under greater pressure so that players get use to it.
  12. every team has injuries and issues, our place in the finals rested on our last game against collingwood. They were missing a large number of players we were missing 1. simple as that. they came to play, we, just turned up and acted like witches hats for them for a quarter. The whole side played and watched that and did absolutely nothing to stop it. It was only after the quarter time talk from the coach that we turned it around. These guys need to think for themselves and should have a better understanding so as to see what is happening and modify their behavior accordingly, i.e. tackle, chase, kick to your team not the opposition, etc...
  13. crows look absolutely hopeless, Thankfully the umps aren't influenced by the local crowd.
  14. what is fair, we all have different draws, and play some teams twice and others once. some play interstate more than others, some like geelong and interstate sides have huge home advantages. we cannot make this totally fair. our players need to turn up and play regardless of where, when or who.
  15. if we do make the finals thanks because of Adelaide we will not go very far. The attitude of the players when it is time to stand up is still very questionable. Swans, Richmond, Port even Geelong have all come out and had good solid wins, we could not ever achieve an honorable loss. We are a few players short and still missing a lot of heart and common sense from being a great team.
  16. You can't think of that now! not sure I agree with that, he and the rest of the players should be thinking about that. They should be looking hard at what they did or did not do that contributed to this situation, so it does not happen next time we come up against any side especially one where the team think we got this before the ball is bounced.
  17. we have trouble putting away teams, we do not have big wins, not this year, its been awhile since we whooped anyone bad and stamped our authority on the game. We always fumble and loose to teams we should beat, loosing to the Essendon VFL team still haunts me to this day. We have a team of immature individuals who do not take their job seriously, yes they see this as a job and a bit of fun, but they do not seem to want to commit the way other teams do, or emotionally the way the fans do.
  18. Anyone know if bernie is contracted for next year? As I think it is probably getting time to give it away. he does some good things but he more often than not bleeds a few goals a game.
  19. if we are good enough club then we will win in Darwin. As for home game advantage, did playing at the MCG in a collingwood home game hurt us today. Our problem is the lack of effort from our players, they were playing to ensure themselves a spot in the finals and they could not even rouse them selves to turn up until the 2nd quarter. by then the damage was done. While we had our chances and missed a few easy shots so did the woods. the difference was the first quarter. if playing finals does not inspire them to play then what the hell will. Does not bode well if we do manage scrape through into the finals.
  20. Tom needs to stay forward, he is a good marking target and seems to have far greater accuracy kicking at goals than away from goals. Leave him forward. Bring frost back to cover in defense.
  21. our midfield without Jack looks poor. If oliver wasn't there then we would have been decimated. Tyson is questionable he gets the ball but does not control where it goes, his disposal is poor, ANB can be iffy as well. we need another quality midfielder to support Jack and oliver.
  22. even if we are fortunate enough to make it through to this years finals, how do you go in knowing you just barely beat this years wooden spooners and we let collingwood run over us like we were not there. What sort of confidence does that give a side going into to a cut throat final. i just dont understand why our players cannot seem to fire up and play football for 4 quarters.
  23. look on the positive side we get a slightly earlier draft pick. On the negative side we suck big time when we are favorites. How we can allow sides to come out and blitz us like north and collingwood both did and we fail to fire a shot. i really worry about our so called zone defense, running sides like north and collingwood run around us and over us, they seem to have free men everywhere while our forwards think they are bananas that have to bunch up in the forward line. you would think that when we bomb it forward that their should be an almost equal opportunity for our forwards, but more often than not the opposition intercepts. where are our forwards?
  24. we are coming up against 22 players who want to win. we barely got over the line last week against the bottom of the ladder side. So lets not get too over confident, we have a habit of blowing those matches. Everyone needs to focus on tomorrow and beating collingwood well.
