  1. every team has injuries and issues, our place in the finals rested on our last game against collingwood. They were missing a large number of players we were missing 1. simple as that. they came to play, we, just turned up and acted like witches hats for them for a quarter. The whole side played and watched that and did absolutely nothing to stop it. It was only after the quarter time talk from the coach that we turned it around. These guys need to think for themselves and should have a better understanding so as to see what is happening and modify their behavior accordingly, i.e. tackle, chase, kick to your team not the opposition, etc...
  2. crows look absolutely hopeless, Thankfully the umps aren't influenced by the local crowd.
  3. what is fair, we all have different draws, and play some teams twice and others once. some play interstate more than others, some like geelong and interstate sides have huge home advantages. we cannot make this totally fair. our players need to turn up and play regardless of where, when or who.
  4. if we do make the finals thanks because of Adelaide we will not go very far. The attitude of the players when it is time to stand up is still very questionable. Swans, Richmond, Port even Geelong have all come out and had good solid wins, we could not ever achieve an honorable loss. We are a few players short and still missing a lot of heart and common sense from being a great team.
  5. You can't think of that now! not sure I agree with that, he and the rest of the players should be thinking about that. They should be looking hard at what they did or did not do that contributed to this situation, so it does not happen next time we come up against any side especially one where the team think we got this before the ball is bounced.
  6. we have trouble putting away teams, we do not have big wins, not this year, its been awhile since we whooped anyone bad and stamped our authority on the game. We always fumble and loose to teams we should beat, loosing to the Essendon VFL team still haunts me to this day. We have a team of immature individuals who do not take their job seriously, yes they see this as a job and a bit of fun, but they do not seem to want to commit the way other teams do, or emotionally the way the fans do.
  7. Anyone know if bernie is contracted for next year? As I think it is probably getting time to give it away. he does some good things but he more often than not bleeds a few goals a game.
  8. if we are good enough club then we will win in Darwin. As for home game advantage, did playing at the MCG in a collingwood home game hurt us today. Our problem is the lack of effort from our players, they were playing to ensure themselves a spot in the finals and they could not even rouse them selves to turn up until the 2nd quarter. by then the damage was done. While we had our chances and missed a few easy shots so did the woods. the difference was the first quarter. if playing finals does not inspire them to play then what the hell will. Does not bode well if we do manage scrape through into the finals.
  9. Tom needs to stay forward, he is a good marking target and seems to have far greater accuracy kicking at goals than away from goals. Leave him forward. Bring frost back to cover in defense.
  10. our midfield without Jack looks poor. If oliver wasn't there then we would have been decimated. Tyson is questionable he gets the ball but does not control where it goes, his disposal is poor, ANB can be iffy as well. we need another quality midfielder to support Jack and oliver.
  11. even if we are fortunate enough to make it through to this years finals, how do you go in knowing you just barely beat this years wooden spooners and we let collingwood run over us like we were not there. What sort of confidence does that give a side going into to a cut throat final. i just dont understand why our players cannot seem to fire up and play football for 4 quarters.
  12. look on the positive side we get a slightly earlier draft pick. On the negative side we suck big time when we are favorites. How we can allow sides to come out and blitz us like north and collingwood both did and we fail to fire a shot. i really worry about our so called zone defense, running sides like north and collingwood run around us and over us, they seem to have free men everywhere while our forwards think they are bananas that have to bunch up in the forward line. you would think that when we bomb it forward that their should be an almost equal opportunity for our forwards, but more often than not the opposition intercepts. where are our forwards?
  13. we are coming up against 22 players who want to win. we barely got over the line last week against the bottom of the ladder side. So lets not get too over confident, we have a habit of blowing those matches. Everyone needs to focus on tomorrow and beating collingwood well.
  14. Tom is down the back at the moment because we lack another big backman. But even tom at his best still struggles with Daniher, Brown, Nick and others. I personally would like to see Tom moved back forward as it gives us a lot more marking and scoring power.
  15. i would be a bit disappointed to loose frost, his form at the start with the dees was not great but has grown in confidence and started to show he can be a pretty handy halfback player with this height, speed, run and carry. I think he still has a lot of upside as a player another good pre-season (after we win this years flag) will set him up for a really great year next year, hopefully with us, if not hopefully we will get something decent in the way of a trade for him.
  16. We have a player here potentially in reasonably high demand from other clubs and we are bagging him as not being good enough, way to go to lower his trade value.
  17. we start paying big $'s to get or even try to lure kelly then we will start to see our better young player holding out for more $'s too eventually which will see them poached by other teams. We need to have a team we can afford, and we need a team that can play together, just having individuals that can play well is not as good as having a solid team.
  18. disagree there is no merit in losing to collingwood and going into the finals having lost the week before does absolutely nothing for the teams confidence. We need to go into the finals having wooped Collingwood, not just beat them but wooped them. We are not playing great football compared to most if not all other finalists, so we need a rousing win to lift our confidence and spirits, on our day we can beat any of these teams. Problem we are going to need to have to beat at least 4 of the remaining 7 finals teams, that is after last weeks win and then a win against collingwood. That will require us to win 6 games in a row against the best to win the flag. Fight like hell and give it a red hot go Dees.
  19. lets beat collingwood, then beat who ever where ever is next to progress. one week at a time, we should not be afraid to play any team, we should have the confidence to know if we are playing well we can beat anyone anywhere. We have already proven we can win interstate this year. so nothing new here, just a matter of who do we face first up.
  20. we seem to be in a pretty good place at the moment that we have some reasonable players to come in but are scratching to agree on who is playing badly enough to be dropped. Collingwood will be a hard game, a few players will be playing for their careers, so will their coach. We torch them and it maybe bye bye Bucks. .
  21. This is a game we need to win and win well, we need 4 quarters of team football. We still have to face collingwood next week and then hopefully finals, any player putting in less than 100% until the end of the year (when we are holding the premiership cup) should be dropped and replaced by someone willing to work and want to play finals football for the dees. put all the players on notice, if they want to play finals then need to turn up to play.
  22. Keep the same side, we need some consistency. Weeds was probably pretty nervous he needs more time playing in the seniors to get used to the pace and the teams style and confidence, picking him and then immediately dropping him it not a good way to go. We may need him in the finals if we progress and have injuries/suspensions. Watts needs another week at Casey, he needs to get his form back for the collingwood and hopefully the finals.
  23. So given the above if the bounce goes over to one side of max and he stands between the ball and the opposition ruckman and taps it then he can be pinged for blocking? putting an arm out is blocking but jumping into a player to push him out is not, Who know ruckwork was so hard?
  24. funny how putting your hand up to fend off a player jumping into your face is not allowed, but at throw ins you can drag the opposition player down by the arm as much as you like and not give away a free. disappointed in some of the umpiring at times they just let what ever happen then every now and again pull something out of the hat.
