  1. hopefully Georgiou will be able to keep him quiet
  2. Hugh Goddard and if Chip leaves Sam Durdin with the compo
  3. jesus, that second one will haunt me for a long time, Dangerfield was a victorian boy too!
  4. He is playing the best footy of his career so i'd like him to stay, but if he leaves i won't be upset either, much more concerned with what his mate in number 8 does
  5. I'd be shocked if we didn't get band 1 compensation, if he leaves he is looking at 700 k and at least 4 years
  6. I reckon Dunn will stick around, mostly because i can't see any other team being that interested
  7. His contract was apparently very front loaded and when you factor in the sort of money Dawes, Clark, Watts, Grimes Jones and Howe are on it's not all that surprising, nomatter what he does at the end of 2014 i imagine he will be earning at least twice as much
  8. If he is unrestricted we still get compo but he can walk without us being able to match the offer.
  9. Exactly, then when Wines was not as effective in a much worse side we could have rattled on about how we should have taken Toumpas because we already had to many inside mids.
  10. I think at the very least they would be run by the coach, in terms of drafting the recruiters have all the information i imagine the coach would give them a profile of what they are after and they'd stick as closely to that, in Neelds case it was best available player
  11. What's this potential norm smith medallist nonsense, every player in the comp right now is a potential norm smith medallist I get you mean he is a big game player but there are plenty of those out there, Jimmy Toumpas is one of them.
  12. Yeah things seem to work like that around here, i too would be happy with half as good, a consistant 200 gamer would be plenty for me, and i see no reason that can't happen
  13. That's fine, but what says Toumpas won't because he was quiet in his first year? sure if in 3 years he's done nothing then we have this convo for now we really have no idea the only consistant knock i am hearing is that he's apparently abit soft, i remember hearing the same knocks on Gary ablett jr in his first two years
  14. Bloke wasn't averaging 25 touches a game in his first year, delist him. seriously? Wines is playing well good for him, the fact Wines had a better first year doesn't make any difference to us, he plays for Port, Viney and Toumpas will be fine, they have Roos and Stone developing them and they both have talent, you don't get rated that highly for no reason.
  15. Great football person and a great bloke, heart goes out to his family!
  16. Do we have a practice match or intra club this week?
  17. Roos said he would make Rawlings fill the role of senior assistant for 2014, i'd say that's a decent head start
  18. Wines played well in a good side, Jimmy struggled to get the ball in a team that struggled to get the ball, but that doesn't mean in any way shape or form that Jimmy can't be a good player in his own right, and to say there is no way he can be is an unfounded prediction, players have been accused of being soft before and gone on to be stars.
  19. Don't underestimate this, if Toumpas was in Geelong or the Hawks side he would have looked alot better than he was ever going to last year for us
  20. I firmly believe it was a handshake deal involved in our trade with Jesse Hogan, alot of people believed we paid overs and i agree
  21. The immature kid who needed hip surgery was captain of his state, had been playing senior footy for 2 years before he was drafted, was considered a top 2 pick for most of the year and we already had jack viney as a more highly rated inside mid than wines, the doggies would have also drafted toumpas if we went for someone else
  22. Hogan isn't training at all right now and i don't believe Dawes has been with the main group in a long while, reckon Fitzy, Pederson and Howe will be our forward targets
  23. I understand what you mean OD but you don't hear Geelong saying why aren't first year draftee's impacting games, freo's first year draftee last year played one game, they get significantly more exposure at MFC and alot of the time it's far too early, but because we are sick of losing if they players can't walk off the street and make the step up in round 1 we have selected badly. having said that i would have taken Wines because Wines and Viney would have been our engine room for the next decade but we have Jimmy
  24. He was fine with the hard ball at junior level and in the SANFL, i reckon it's a confidence thing, but i will give him 3 years before i will write him off totally, wouldn't be the first player who hasn't been great in their first year and come good in a big way
  25. I understand your stance WYL but do you reckon it's a little unfair to totally write a young bloke off after one season? just because Wines is good doesn't mean Jimmy won't match him in time
