I think it's foolish to think that any one game can define where a team is at in an overall sense, beating Hawthorn today wouldn't make up for the Suns losing consistently by 70 plus points this season.

The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here
Ted Lasso replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
No chance, hasn't played all year, Mark my words the deal will be equal to a third round pick at most. Freo don't have a second round pick this year and there is no chance they're going to part with a top 10 pick unless GWS want to throw in Jonothan Patton or something else into the deal. -
Would be shocked if he didn't feel a fair bit of regret walking off after being belted by the Dees
-
Had a really strong relationship with Bucks and i'd heard he wanted to play as a forward and Roosy had basically locked him in as a defender if he stayed. The irony being he's gone to a team behind us and is playing in defense after a short failed stint as a forward.

I can't understand why a serious AFL footballer would re-sign with a club that wronged them so badly. i know some have been offered insane dollars but outside that there is no carrot, they're going to have to totally re-build
-
I think he'll be better than his brother, not sure he'll be as good as SOS however.
-
Jetta has underrated skills, Lumumba offers run and experience the other three it's hard to argue but they all should improve in this area over time, i think Frost and OMAC can develop into very good key defenders.
-
It's an awful idea that destroys any notion of Equalization, players from lower clubs will be lining up at the door to get to the top sides. A mid season draft however could work, allowing sides to delist players and add in unsigned from state leagues or anyone delisted in that time.
-
Jetta Frost Omac Hibberd Tmac Lumumba releases Salem up the field and looks a very offensive backline with good skills, experience and a mix of youth.

Crouch is a very talented inside/outside midfielder who fits the bill perfectly in terms of the type of mid we want, tough, competitor, and good outside skill and speed, issue is he apparently has some off field troubles as Dazzle says, having said that the club offered the Crows pick 2 for Brad when we got Tyson so clearly we rate him as a top 2 pick. I think he's someone we'll definitely look at if he decides to come home
-
Would cost every bit of 2 first round picks that we don't have and doesn't fit the bill of the type of midfielder we recruit, i don't consider him to be a "competitor" though he is a very skillful player.

Greater Western Sydney (a dynasty to rival the Hawks)
Ted Lasso replied to Diamond_Jim's topic in Melbourne Demons
Giants are loaded with talent, but i don't rate Leon Cameron as a coach, and i think they can be exposed in contested ball, they fall away massively in this area if Mumford isn't at his best, and you don't just find players like Mumford easily. but my god it'd be depressing to miss out on a flag because of them. -
Respect is growing, that's all that really matters here, it's not just jack either, a few clubs are a bit jealous of the quality of our kids.

I agree with you SWYL i think we desperately need to bring in real leader who has tasted success and is still good enough to contribute. Luke Hodge is rumored to be the one the Hawks will move on at years end, could a one year deal with an extra year as an assistant coach convince him to play on for one more? Nathan Jones and our young leaders would learn a huge amount just having him in the club, he would be worth it even if he only played 10-15 games and mentored our players outside of that. I really like our young list, and i think Nathan Jones is definitely the right person to be captain but he hasn't tasted success, we're currently relying on Dawes and Lumumba to be that finals guide and imo neither are certain best 22 players.

If you go to the one v one feature on the AFL app and do Jack Viney vs Dion Prestia it's amazing how similar they are as players, most of their stats are very close with Dion just ahead in a few areas.
-
Watts is going to kick around 35 goals himself this year, but his skills, class and smarts will create at least that many more for his team mates. I am involved at a different AFL club and i can tell you the respect for Jack outside the MFC has gone through the roof this year, he would have attracted significant interest if he remained unsigned.
-
James Frawley said if you cut his wrists he'd bleed red and blue in his final year, until he puts pen to paper everyone will be uneasy about it.
-
If we can offer Danger the sort of money we apparently did then surely we can pay Jesse whatever he's asking for. I understand the importance of not selling out our future for one player but surely the club has been expecting Jesse to demand a huge contract for a long time and has been planning accordingly to allow us to keep him.
-
If Glen Barltett said what Eddie did the AFL would have forced him to resign. It won't happen but i can't see any way he should have to do the same, he's actions as the president of a club have been quite poor over a long period of time.
-
Just hope he isn't one of those players who finds a gear when he's OOC and then goes back to his normal ways onces he's signed on, we need him to keep building on this form, even now i think he has a lot of improvement left in him.
-
He's definitely got a bit to work on with his attitude, i'm really confident Sam Weiderman holds the key to this not happening anymore, when he comes in and shows how talented he is the three pronged attack of Watts, Hogan, Weiderman will be far to dangerous for Hogan to be double and triple teamed and he'll be able to build that confidence in game much easier on a week to week basis.
-
He's one of if not the best Aerobic athlete at the club, with the interchange cap coming in this to me says he's probably the most suited of all our midfielders to the modern game. I personally believe all these judgments should be reserved to the end of the year and allow Jack to build some form and remind everyone how talented he is, we've seen flashes but i'm sure they'll happen more and more over time
-
One of the best posts i've seen on this site in a long time Jesse isn't perfect, and we probably rely on him far more than we'd like considering his age/experience, i do believe Jesse is just starting to understand we can win games if he doesn't dominate so the pressure to destroy opposition has lifted a little and he does seem to be enjoying things a little more. He isn't great defensively but he works bloody hard, so i'm sure over time that will improve, he leads right up the ground and goes behind the ball and he's really becoming a very good all round player for us.
-
I'm not sure what others are seeing in Trenners that looks so bad, i've felt he's been solid without being fantastic, but definitely building back into it and certainly doing enough to hold his spot, need to remember he's missed two years, it was never going to happen right away, but i'm seeing enough to think he can contribute.

I thought Nathan brown would develop into one of the best defenders going around but he seems to have stalled, he's not super old yet so maybe a new team might re-ignite him as a player and could prove to be a value pick up, he's a premiership defender and in my opinion a better option than Frost or Omac for now and wouldn't cost very much in a trade i wouldn't have thought. he's definitely a player who if not the MFC i think another club will be pretty happy to pick up, plenty of clubs who could use him.
