2020 Grand Final
Yep I generally try to have a second team that is of interest to me but neither of today's team excite. The Bulldogs win really brought home to me our lack of success. We are alone now on the bottom rung of the failure ladder with only the Saints anywhere near us. Go Storm !!!

Free agency - the rich (clubs) get richer
If it can be proved that this is the reason more money is being paid it is draft tampering. Remember that the formula is discretionary. Then again the AFL may be happy to give these two clubs a helping hand. MFCSS tells me that if we tried it we would be fined and lose the compo pick

Board Changes
Eddie being inappropriate again perhaps.... "Morrison rejected claims from the Collingwood Football Club president, Eddie McGuire, who told news.com.au that Holgate – a Collingwood board member – was the victim of “a pile on” because “hacks” and “dullards” were trying to drag her down"

2020 Grand Final
Must say I'm quite hoping for lightning and the game is postponed. Very 2020

Oliver Rumours on Footy Classified
Interesting diversion. fifty odd years ago the general belief was that it was easier to win a Brownlow at a struggling club because other players in your team did not take votes away from you. Fast forward to the last ten years and the Brownlow has almost always gone to a player in a finals team. Wonder what has changed

Free agency - the rich (clubs) get richer
Especially when Fox/Kayo is paying almost two thirds of the media rights. It's always been a strange marriage

Revamped VFL
If the AFL bubble is with us for a while in 2021 it makes it very difficult to have a full second team comp as the top up players will need to live and work outside the bubble

Free agency - the rich (clubs) get richer
yep you've picked it in one even in 2018 our slow start would see us ignored 2020... maybe one at best... probably bulldogs v us

Free agency - the rich (clubs) get richer
Gil doesn't get it "AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan has defended free agency and flagged the possibility of fluid fixturing next year so that the most appealing games appear in the prime broadcast slots. With a place in this year's grand final and three first-round picks in the draft to follow, the Cats scarcely fit the profile of a club in need. But the short history of free agency has demonstrated over and over that players on the move prioritise success over money. McLachlan said the Geelong/Cameron nexus was not an accident. "That is free agency. They've got to attract him, they've got to fit him into their cap," he said. "If you create good environments, good footy clubs, players will come to you. It's a credit to Geelong." https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/free-to-a-good-home-mclachlan-backs-cameron-move-20201021-p5679s.html

Jimmy Webster
So summing up the posts: injury prone 27 year old on a decent contract who played zero games in 2020 and 8 in 2019

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
there's also Smith ?

Jesse Hogan on the way out at Freo?
had forgotten the covid breach. Remember his lawyer asking for no conviction to be recorded. The AFL contracts have morality clauses which he could quite well have breached allowing a free kick trade wise for Freo. Interesting

Time to have a talk about Jayden
Suspect he's been offered a less than "wow" contract and he's weighing up his options Hannan's likely departure has strengthened his hand a little
-
Luke Jacksons best position for 2021
Not sure I could take another season of "will he go home" a la Hogan. Sign him until end of 2023 and let's see. Hope we don't waste him in the ruck. It's become a dinosaur position the way most play it not to mention hard on the body

Jesse Hogan on the way out at Freo?
Hogan is reportedly on an amount in excess of $900k per year with a contract going till the end of 2021. He's Freo's T Mac Hard to make those numbers work for any suitor unless Freo stumps up around half. Would Hogan move on a one year deal or would he want 2 or 3?
-
Jesse Hogan on the way out at Freo?
Problem is that there are probably several clubs that would pay more for Jesse than we would. But perhaps we are hos destination club ?

Jesse Hogan on the way out at Freo?
At his best he would have also taken the pressure of Weid and Fritsch He was a strong mobile forward.... not many of them Mind you he could appear a little lazy at times and I hated the annual "will he go home threads"

Esava Ratugolea
Our forward line is systemically a mess. (So much depends upon trading T Mac or his recovery). As an M Brown replacement and at the right price and contract length (2 years) might be worth a go but please not another Tomlinson style deal. If a good deal can't be done I'd roll with M Brown for another year My interest is in someone to challenge Melksham and AVB especially as we are losing Hannan.

Jesse Hogan on the way out at Freo?
I really thought Jesse would deliver us that elusive flag as a goal scoring chf but ..........

Free agency - the rich (clubs) get richer
sorry... next year maybe.. one decent year doesn't make you top ten in the league He's probably 10-20 though
-
Free agency - the rich (clubs) get richer
but if he was at the better team he would be paid less because the "Stars" will be getting more Until recently we have not had a marquee player and we don't yet have a top ten player. Why were we paying the full cap. Players like Jones were quite likely overpaid by market standards
