  1. Agree Daniher took unders from Essendon when he last signed... said to be around $600-650k when he could have demanded $800k at least. Assuming Daniher leaves Bombers would still have to find another half million a year. Just shows how hard it is to accommodate these huge salaries unless you are prepared to mortgage the club on a Franklin type deal.
  2. This has to be combined with his salary ask. (What is he asking?) He will be OOC so if Dons won't agree his terms.. North, Adelaide etc are in a good position to pick him up for nothing Essendon may have to take best offer Assuming Viney and T Mac leave the salary could be manageable but tight given our player mix.
  3. It will certainly be post $600k. He signed at his absolute peak. Couldn't help but chuckle when I saw his name being thrown around in the Saad trade thread. No one will take him unless we underwrite a significant chunk of his salary. Assume some team offers pick 100 and to pay $400k... Do you take it ?
  4. Ticketing for the GF will be fascinating to say the least. As for the other finals in Qld one wonders if they will get many The crowd for Pies v Suns last Monday looked almost non existent
  5. Looking forward to the reasoned post season analysis. My thoughts are we need to divide the season into blocks with the first block being recognition of the 2019 base. Another week to go but my present feeling is that we went forward in 2020 but by nowhere near as much as we should have.
  6. Where two or more Clubs at the completion of the Home and Away Matches have accumulated the same Premiership Points and have the same percentage, the following procedure shall apply: (A) the position of the tied Clubs shall be adjusted by accumulating the Premiership Points awarded to the relevant Clubs as a result of the Home and Away Matches played between them and placing the Club with the highest accumulated Premiership Points, first as between them; (B) where the Premiership Points accumulated by the relevant Clubs remain equal, the position of the tied Clubs shall be adjusted by calculating each such Club’s percentage based on the proportion of points scored for and against each such Club from the Home and Away Matches between them and placing the Club with the highest percentage, first as between them; (C) where two or more Clubs still remain tied, the position of the Clubs shall be adjusted by lot conducted and drawn by the General Manager - Football Operations so that any Club drawn ahead of any other Club shall be placed ahead of such other Club or Clubs.
  7. do you think we will be required to register for the grand finals ticket quota as in usual years?
  8. Did your friend ever find out more ?
  9. This is like slowly sinking into the primeval mud as each lifeline disappears A microcosm of MFCSS
  10. why 2 years.... just asking One at most if any was my thinking Have a look at LH's wonderful sticky on contracts. We have lots of dying/dead wood to deal with
  11. If you want to see how well commentary can be done during covid watch Sky's coverage of Formula 1. While the racing is often predictable the commentary and camera work is first class. The commentators are on course in masks. In this sense they don't try to hide the virus..they embrace it visually which in these times is very important.
  12. Correct...the date was usually in August before the end of the home and away and required a club to inform the assistant coaches if they were being renewed. This year I assume the date has been pushed to now. Traditionally all contracts ran IIRC to end October including for players. Not sure what rules there are for public announcements...
  13. A real divergence of opinion here. Just one thing to add into the mix. In the year that Hunt had his first long VFL stint... was it 2017?.... I watched him closely and even at that level he could not replicate his run and carry.
  14. Hunt that is... A favoured player for many of us and a sponsored Demonland player as well. Out of contract at the end of this year. My guess is a low one year contract with match incentives but is he worth that and will he try the trade market. Hard decision which will be influenced by who else we let go but interested to hear if others think there is merit in retaining him. On a side note I see Melksham is contracted until end 2022 which is starting to look like one year too many perhaps.
  15. A Suns win is not impossible against the Pies. Big Monday night football coming up. Hopefully no Bruce to commentate
  16. Come on a quick 4 or 5 goals from our favourite team would be so welcome
  17. Highest score this year is 119 points with highest winning margin being 75 points. Something for the Dogs to aim at
  18. Go those brown looking ornithological creatures ?
  19. If Baker and Petty can become top 15 players in 2021 we will have a far better team. This years three draft picks plus Langdon gives us 6 good players who were not available in 2019. Some hope for optimism in 2021
  20. Frawley and Scully late outs for the Hawks
  21. Not yet Jarod R invented the intercept marking role
  22. LH's wonderful contracts table in the sticky is a wonderful resource. Shows Baker contracted until 2021 Hunt is now the conundrum perhaps
  23. Increased public holidays are often the sign of a declining economy desperate to get consumers to spend. Japan is a classic example. This holiday has never really made any sense from a "date marking" viewpoint and this year makes even less sense as there is no GF in Melbourne, it's six weeks late and Melbourne is most likely locked down in a manner that prohibits travel outside the metro area. In the scheme of 2020 though I'm beyond caring
  24. Going into a shoot out with GWS is not usually a percentage game plan
  25. IF Fritta and Pickett could kick straight
