  1. In the link below there are shots of a match sim at Casey. It clearly shows a large development on the fifty metre line at the Berwick end. Anyone have some details?
  2. The measure of a good coach surely is the maximisation of the talent of his list by various means including gameplans etc. Can anyone really say that Goodwin has done that? Let's not forget the final round of 2017 which in its own way showed us the measure of this coach. 2018 was a six odd game streak coinciding with amazing not to be repeated form of Brayshaw. The next four games will tell us but let's not forget the Board who I have no love for has said that finals in 2020 is a must.
  3. Is that prosciutto I see next to the avocado?
  4. Definitely ... straight to the Hall of fame for "Our Gill" if not a Legend !! Perhaps a statue as well.
  5. Hellish could you imagine the unsupervised riff raff being allowed unsupervised into a super box. We are of course.. Melbourne ... but we do have supporters who cannot ski let alone know their pinot from a cabernet !!
  6. The exemption in NSW is justified on the "pub rule" namely the boxes are no different to a pub where you can have up to fifty people in one room provided there is 4 sq metre per person etc. The MCG probably has at least one hundred odd "rooms and boxes"of varying sizes. The problem is that it would not be a good look if the corporates got in but the fans did not. Then again..what's new.
  7. Breaking news.....NSW Govt gives NRL permission for fans to attend games from next week. Details to follow
  8. Broncos did have a large number of outs but it was an amazing outcome. Given the first and second try were in the first ten minutes I doubt that even the Broncos manic supporters would have made a difference. The broadcasters will be very upset as the Broncos are the Collingwood of the NRL
  9. hell I must be bored...... https://morsecode.world/international/translator.html
  10. They got the crowd noise so wrong tonight. If it had been a Broncos crowd there would have been dead silence. Forced laughter came to mind.
  11. who knows... it is such a strange and contrived deal (almost Alan Bond like) anything could happen. If they were businesses it would be like round robin invoicing commonly used to pump up revenues but surely the parties couldn't be that desperate. .
  12. There is already the call for a similar subsidy to go to the Docklands clubs and I'm sure the interstate clubs will not be far behind. A strange deal to say the least. Could do with a little more transparency.
  13. This was raised but just in the context of scratch matches. Do you have a recent source. Cannot see how they would allow them to be played as curtain raisers given ground conditions. Also hard to see how full teams could be fielded given the usual run of injuries.
  14. Reminds me of the pea and shell game....Need some more details as to why
  15. The money comes from the absence of the drop in membership if we keep him. Pass mark is 8 wins. That's being kind.
  16. That's the likely team but it's very conservative. Five odd players who on recent form don't deserve a game but reputation gets them selected. O what we would give for a pre season resumption hit out.
  17. One thing I'll be looking for is use of our dominance in the ruck. Why we don't have four set plays with say two variants per play just amazes me. I also wonder if our tactics are better served by a secondary centre bounce than the primary bounce No use banging it into the forward fifty for the inevitable ball up that brings 24 plus players into the forward fifty.
  18. Seems that the charity dodge is growing legs. I have a strong objection to clubs using such questionable tactics to effectively transfer one third to a half of their costs to the general taxpayer. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-06-03/afl-clubs-risk-misleading-fans-over-membership-amid-coronavirus/12297102 "AFL clubs trying to convert membership payments into tax-deductible gifts are at risk of breaching federal consumer and tax law, and supporters could be left bearing the cost, experts have warned. With the likelihood that members will be locked out of attending games for the foreseeable future, clubs have begun pleading with members not to seek refunds, instead urging them to convert some or all of their membership payment into a tax-deductible donation. Several clubs are seeking the donations via a third party — the Australian Sports Foundation — because sporting clubs are not charities and cannot offer tax-deductible status themselves."
  19. Increasing question marks over these players. If they cannot deliver against Carlton I think we have our answer. My concern is that Goodwin will not have the players up mentally for this game. To say we need to win this one is an understatement.
  20. Agree but during that 20 years you need three flags and five more finals appearances with only one or two years in the bottom four. Can we do that? PS...these days I'd be happy for two winning seasons
  21. Here's a suggestion offer very cheap memberships ($20) to MCC members who support MFC. Impact we might have more "members" than Carlton = Improved perception on size and following. Cost at best.. neutral Time to think out of the box
  22. and why has our supporter base not grown incrementally over the last fifty years. Atrocious on field performance accompanied by lacklustre leadership. It will take 10-20 years to have much impact supporter wise.
  23. The reality is that we will not be able to challenge the power clubs for many years. It would require 10-20 years of success. The aim over the next five years should be to break out of the bottom bracket and move into the next bracket. The immediate goal should be to equal if not move ahead of Carlton and the Bulldogs both on and off field. I'm not sure we have the Board or the coach to achieve this but for once we do have the players. By pursuing a training ground etc in the Jolimont park precinct demonstrated that the Board lacked knowledge of realities. If we had adopted the Gosch's Paddock initiative three years ago it would be well in progress now if not completed. Coaching.... well we all know that story
  24. I was testing my kayo a few days before the NRL and came across a show called the Big Marble or similar. Yes it was a game of marbles played in a non contact manner.Believe me after five minutes of that the NRL was scintilalating. Mind you Melbourne Storm played like the Dees. Massive time in their forward twenty with no result while Canberra waltzed up the other end and scored. ?
  25. Not quite sex dolls but..... Over the weekend a photograph of mass murderer Harold Shipman made an appearance in the stands, then a TV sketch featured an image of Adolf Hitler, prompting furious criticism from Australia’s Jewish community. The broadcaster and the show’s host subsequently apologised, while the NRL said it would review its screening process. Shipman was found guilty in 2000 of murdering 15 of his patients by lethal injection, and while he may not be as infamous in Australia as he is in the UK, the inclusion of his likeness raises questions over the vetting procedure used by the NRL in its scheme
