  1. Would prefer us to try him in defense before accepting SWA - definitely no for Schache who has half the intensity of Weed
  2. Get set for another extended period in the also ran category with sharp creative thinking like that
  3. JVR will have a much better chance of success if Petty is playing forward Turner will have more chances if Petty plays forward Howes - I am doubtful he will make it given his lack of physicality - please don’t even try to compare him to Robert Flower Laurie is skilful but he lacks speed and imo is too similar to Spargo Chandler performed really well in VFL - that unfortunately doesn’t guarantee it will translate to AFL - he probably deserves a few chances in 2023 AMW has skills but doesn’t get much of it at VFL level - hard to see him playing AFL tbh Taj W could be a very handy player just seems to lack pace - if he had Bakers speed he’d be a walk up start
  4. We will never know unless we try it I'm a big fan of Petty forward providing it doesn't undermine our back six too much I have doubted Weids ability to be a KPD due to his lack of aggression but the more I've thought about it the more I think it's worth a shot Some may disagree with me, but it seems KPD might be a bit easier than KPF a) you are not doubled teamed b) you have to follow your opponent rather than being the play maker - of course it helps if you can read the play and peel off to intercept at times but is seems an easier brief to stop your opponent marking the ball and compete at ground level rather than having to take contested marks and convert shots on goal If Grundy comes on board, I think this could be the logical next stop for Weid - it could be the best for him and the team overall if it allows Petty to play forward
  5. Maybe right but IMO that would equate to us getting a very poor return in investment
  6. And the question stills hangs out there - what happens if both WA clubs offer tripe for LJ? Does he do the right thing and sign a new contract with MFC or does he screw the MFC and run home and give us the bird I'd be a little nervous if I was him - looms as the meat in the sandwich if you ask me Fremantle have had plenty of time it seems to get their house in order to do a fair trade but look miles off doing so atm
  7. But I thought it was MFC deciding where he goes depending on the best trade?
  8. Harsh - maybe its more of a reflection of everyone outside of Melb knowing our small forwards were not performing to the same level they were in 2021 but our coach being extremely reluctant to make changes or take a few risks with selection or positional changes
  9. The club should ignore Cornes and do two things 1. All it can to make Kossie happy with his life in Melbourne 2. Sign a new contract before the start of next season If they can't get these done it will become another ugly circus very very quickly
  10. Pretty sure it’s the bit about Jack being midfield depth - he isn’t he is the one that usually sets the standard and when he is fit and firing we win almost always
  11. None of those have Hunts pace which imo we lack - Turner is a tall defender Bowey is ripper and I really hope locks down a best 22 spot next year Rivers is a bit hit and miss so in that respect on a par with Hunt without the speed I hope Laurie and Howes are surprise packets next year but I haven’t seen enough at VFL level to feel confident about that
  12. Is Jackson going for $s ? I thought it was some pressing need to live in WA. I’m sure he was offered good money to stay but there were other reasons than just cash Who are the kids about to pass Hunt - please don’t suggest Laurie or Howes as both are a very long way off in my opinion Great midfield depth ? Really we’ve been lucky that both Trac, Viney and Clarry have been available most weeks - one or two get an injury and we looked thin especially if Harmes is going. Dunstan is an honest footballer but that’s it
  13. Agree - I was really just responding to the idea that “we are a destination club and for the right price players want to play with us” personally I think that’s just BS Most players will look after their own interests - they will seek success if they crave it , they will seek money if that drives them , they will run home if they are that way inclined The idea that we dangle a carrot in front of any player and they will rush to play for MFC as a destination club is pretty naïve if you ask me
  14. Well we paid up big time to get both Lever and May - not saying they haven’t been great for our team but May I believe was quite happy to play for the filth but we had the draft hand to get the deal done In Grundy - he is really being pushed out the door because they don’t like his contract - jury out whether he will perform at the highest level for the balance of his contract - hopefully he can get really fit over the summer and perform Dunstan can’t get a game - absent injuries I don’t see that changing Tomlinson can’t get a game - absent injuries I don’t see that changing Hibberd I rate highly but really doubt he has much left in the tank beyond 2023 Melksham performed better than I expected but when the heat was on went missing at the pointy end Ben Brown - his best was well and truly behind him when he arrived Langdon is a great wingman and was a fantastic acquisition
  15. Luke Jackson, Toby Bedford, Jayden Hunt, and maybe James Harmes all say G’day
  16. The ability to run, carry and bounce is quite important in getting the ball past opposition teams defensive zones - these skills are something that JH has - not saying he is faultless but I like what he brings and would prefer he stays
  17. Maybe but if we finish up losing Jackson and replacing him with Naughton and Grundy I’d say that’s a pretty good outcome
  18. How are they getting two top 10 picks ?
  19. I never said a capable forward needs to be huge
  20. Maybe it’s because Max currently has zero ruck support - Maybe it’s the reason we have interest in recruiting Grundy IMO we have been relying far too heavily on Max thinking that he is invincible and not adequately planning for a plan B - It’s going to be a much bigger problem Now that Fluke has moved on
  21. I agree with this but I also think players tire when their relentless pressure and tackling doesn’t get rewarded and the opposition defence easily clear the ball To be successful we need both elements , relentless pressure and tackling coupled with an effective system of delivery to capable forwards - I’d suggest the last two need a bit of refinement
