  1. Agree - I was really just responding to the idea that “we are a destination club and for the right price players want to play with us” personally I think that’s just BS Most players will look after their own interests - they will seek success if they crave it , they will seek money if that drives them , they will run home if they are that way inclined The idea that we dangle a carrot in front of any player and they will rush to play for MFC as a destination club is pretty naïve if you ask me
  2. Well we paid up big time to get both Lever and May - not saying they haven’t been great for our team but May I believe was quite happy to play for the filth but we had the draft hand to get the deal done In Grundy - he is really being pushed out the door because they don’t like his contract - jury out whether he will perform at the highest level for the balance of his contract - hopefully he can get really fit over the summer and perform Dunstan can’t get a game - absent injuries I don’t see that changing Tomlinson can’t get a game - absent injuries I don’t see that changing Hibberd I rate highly but really doubt he has much left in the tank beyond 2023 Melksham performed better than I expected but when the heat was on went missing at the pointy end Ben Brown - his best was well and truly behind him when he arrived Langdon is a great wingman and was a fantastic acquisition
  3. Luke Jackson, Toby Bedford, Jayden Hunt, and maybe James Harmes all say G’day
  4. The ability to run, carry and bounce is quite important in getting the ball past opposition teams defensive zones - these skills are something that JH has - not saying he is faultless but I like what he brings and would prefer he stays
  5. Maybe but if we finish up losing Jackson and replacing him with Naughton and Grundy I’d say that’s a pretty good outcome
  6. How are they getting two top 10 picks ?
  7. I never said a capable forward needs to be huge
  8. Maybe it’s because Max currently has zero ruck support - Maybe it’s the reason we have interest in recruiting Grundy IMO we have been relying far too heavily on Max thinking that he is invincible and not adequately planning for a plan B - It’s going to be a much bigger problem Now that Fluke has moved on
  9. I agree with this but I also think players tire when their relentless pressure and tackling doesn’t get rewarded and the opposition defence easily clear the ball To be successful we need both elements , relentless pressure and tackling coupled with an effective system of delivery to capable forwards - I’d suggest the last two need a bit of refinement
  10. Gary Rohan doing his best work again
  11. Pathetic would be overly generous
  12. Much rather Joel Amartey if we are trying to raid the swans
  13. He looks v slow to me - no way he gets a game in our team if we are looking to improve from this season - would be paying a big chunk of cash to bloke who would likely play the entire season with Casey The fact they are prepared to part with pick 7 to see the back of him says it all NO from me
  14. Actually Harmes kicked it to a leading Fritta not BBB but whatever
  15. Interesting idea and maybe worth a go but I'd question if he has the leg speed to play that role I know Jetta wasn't exactly quick but he managed to read the game better than anyone which helped compensate - I'd suggest towards the end his lack of pace really became his enemy
  16. ahhh - which ones area available ? Please copy us on the list of those that are 1. available and keen to join the MFC 2. capable of having a meaningful impact say average of 2 to 3 goals per game I'm on record as saying Petty is our best KPD but unless we find a KPF who can compete in the air and on the ground I don't think we are going to improve next year As far as finding our new KPF in the draft currently we don't have a single first round pick and I suspect we wont get a top 10 pick from the Jackson deal - in any event if we did draft a KPF they generally take years to actually have a impact on a consistent basis
  17. It would be tempting but at the end of the day that would be like pooping in your own nest I am disappointed he decided to leave - I think I'm going to be more disappointed with the tripe compensation that will be offered - hope I'm very wrong and we are fairly compensated but just can't see it happening
  18. Bowey could be an option on wing but the question is whether or not someone like Jordon is a better all round winger Woey has shown some good signs and is a better than average user of the football - his challenge is to get it more of it - also seems a bit one paced
  19. Chugg sounds like he'd perform well on Mad Monday - pass on both for mine
  20. Chandler is not slow but I would say Bedford is just about the quickest on our list so having watched a fair amount of Casey I'd say he has Chandler covered for speed
  21. To be fair if the coaching group didn't rate Toby they wouldn't have selected him as medi sub so often - there is no doubt in my mind he is on the edge of regular selection and some of our regular small forwards (probably with the exception of Kozzy) are very much on notice
  22. Agree Toby is what I'd describe as a work in progress - shows some flashes of brilliance but he lacks consistency One thing he does have in spades is speed and excellent acceleration - these are qualities that we don't have in abundance so I would prefer Toby stays a Demon and strives to improve and force himself into the starting 22.
  23. Thanks DD - I wasn't suggesting any of the "options" were for ruck duties only a KPD role
